Listen, as a bruins fan, i bought an amazing ticket to game 2, the same day, for 200 USD (including fees). I wasn't even in the nose bleeds. Those would have been cheaper. Right now, the *cheapest* seat for game 4 in Toronto is 420 CAD, and u get no seat, and my view is obscured. I'm sorry, but part of it is clearly the price. Bruins aren't only dancing around and screaming cause we've won before. it's the real fans. It's these hard-working people or super fans who can actually afford to go to the game. As a European football ("soccer") fan it always amuses me when Americans and Canadians talk about arena atmosphere and fan support during games. If you root for a team, it doesn't matter how successful they are or how many times they choke. If you're not in the arena/stadium to cheer your team on, don't bother coming. Especially for a playoff game. Trust me, my hometown football club has been playing like dog poo for the last two months and our fans still sing, chant, and scream their lungs out for 90+ minutes to spur them on. Yes, they are multimillion athletes that should get the job on themselves, but in Europe the fans and the athletes feed off each other. That's how it should be. And this applies to all sports. Football, hockey, basketball, etc.. Playoff hockey is awesome but even the best atmosphere during an NHL playoff game is worse than an average, meaningless European football match. You can get mad at me, and I don't expect you to understand me, but it's a difference like night and day. It's like that Nikola Jokic reply to a reporter asking him if he was intimidated by the hostile atmosphere. "I played in Serbia, brother" 😂
To add to the point about how the Leafs themselves sabotage their atmosphere (as a Bruins fan, it was wild seeing the seats empty and how it looked like a super bowl crowd in the lower bowl compared to the fanatics pounding the glass all game in TD Garden), there's a relationship between age and economics. The people that can afford the lower bowl seats are going to be wealthier, meaning overall they're going to be older especially since it's mostly businesses buying those seats. Not a lot of teenagers and 20 year olds with corporate money for Leafs season tickets. And they cut to the Maple Leaf Square, not only is the crowd out there losing their minds but they're also noticeably so much younger. The Maple Leafs have basically told their younger fans they're not allowed anywhere near the ice, and while there can for sure be people who are older who bring energy, that has an effect on the energy of the building when the people inside are skewing upper class and older. And for Steven's point about why do they play old hockey music...they're appealing to the wealthiest ticket buyers possible who skew older and who like that stuff as nostalgia and get annoyed at loud music and people cheering around them. They're paying those prices specifically to not be around people who are loud and energetic, like a private bar. They need to drop the prices so that the demographics of who can sit anywhere near the ice changes. Although again as a bruins fan, bless MLSE for never ever considering doing that. Keep up the good work killing your arena.

Hi Steve,Adam,Jessie Kyle here watch every podcast and love what you guys are doing and i look forward to every show! Keep up the great work ! In the past season if you compare Sammy and woll they both have completely diferent play styles, Sammy seems to look like when the goalies started to and learned the butterfly , and has too much of the mind set of if I go down the puck should hit me and not trying to see the shooter when he is being screened. Even though we have seen that he couldn't stop the puck that was right in front of him.also he seems to have to think about doing somthing instead of instincts doing it for him and chasing the play. Also worst save percentage in the league when being screened! Woll is very technical and positional and majority of the goals that he's let is is usually d break down or perfectly executed plays/shots. When woll is on his game his instincts take over and he's always on top of the play. The Two goals Steve was referencing he should stop he should. When I learned the rvh and had to break my old habits of standing and putting one leg up or just being in a butterfly , I saw a great difference in saves and how players reacted. Players know his positioning is not the greatest and they know that the leafs are playing a certain way to limit those situations which I think isn't helping them play better. This goalie problem is almost like looking in a mirror if the mirror of the leafs were the bruins. The bruins head coach last year kept sticking to his guns and playing the goalie that was injured and they lost. I see this future for the leafs, this is a pivotal moment and one thing I learns is do we want to win ? Yes will everyone on the team do anything to win ? Yes The coach is in a tough spot, he's either going to be look my move worked and we won the series or he sticks with Sammy and they lose, if you do the switch by game 5 I think the confidence in the team will be lost. In fairness to Winnipeg blocking shots, the Avs have made so damn many! I think 3rd after Toronto and Boston with one fewer game or something. Also, every time Steve gets on the rulebook horse, I am here for it. Good on Steve for tilting at that damn windmill, because it freaking deserves it!

Loving all the mutual acknowledgment of refs being brutal, but came up short with calling out the B's flops that definitely happened, but ignoring the Bertuzzi middle of ice trip being an enormous flop, tapped his skate and he dove it. Gamesmanship, but your blue is showing fellas
Re power play: 1. Replace elite shooter ( Nylander missing ) with elite shooter ( Robertson ) 2. Speed - passing is too slow, from the first drop back pass to the last controlled pass 3. Speed - everyone should be moving, even net-front and bumper should be doing short distances and possibly interchanging 4. Chaos - there is almost no deception in the Leafs attack. There should be a minimum of 3 ways tostart, a minimum of two distributors, Reilly, Marner, Mathews, and Tavares are excellent, Marner is least effective distrbuter because he isn't a shooting threat ( unlike Kucherov ) create chaos. Since Steve just talked about Tamps's power play it points out exactly why Marner isn't effective in that particular spot, and they don't have a bomber from the point in Reilly.
Bruins crowds last playoffs were awful too. I went to game 7 - was the most disappointing part of the loss and frankly it probably contributed to it. The more expensive the tickets are the more fair weather fans there are. Team is down one goal? heckle the home team. Jesus.
Pens were never gonna make it, and if they did would have been swept. The only reason they were even close is because 4 TEAMS decided they didnt want it. A caps team with a -37 is better than the penguins. Think about that.

As a Kings fan I love how much Jesse talks about us and gives us respect (I know he has us losing this series but I can't blame him) however on this one he missed the mark big time. Cam made some MASSIVE saves in this game, one on the PK that was probably the biggest of this series. BUT, he also let in about 2-3 weak ones in this game and in general has allowed ten goals in these two games. He's been overall kinda bad, his massive saves wouldn't mean as much if he could stop the easy wrist shots that are going by him.
Kings win and still get disrespected in many ways possible. Jesus being a kings fan sucks when people just make jokes about your team like we’re an AHL team and not an NHL team. Wow thanks guys
Hard to believe that the only player talked about in the Tampa/Florida series was Carter. How the hell do you not spend time going over both their goalies and the absolute bananas saves they made?
@@Puckhog They were bad with Willy recently without Marner. Look at the numbers this season with Nylander and Marner on the PP, we have been great. It's more of a lack of creativity and not changing the strategy when the personal has changed. Willy has broken his point PR two years in a row and is a different player the last 2 of the 5 years you mentioned. Historically awful in the playoffs true, but I think the current struggles with the PP are different.
4:39 I have commented this before and Producer Drew will hate me for it but I have attended 3 Colorado Avs games over the last two seasons and the Avalanche have lost all 3 games and I was even cheering for them to beat Florida in January but they lost 8-4 in that game. Luckily I got to see Toronto win twice with Auston getting a hat trick in February!!🎉🎉😊😊
Why are the suits down low? If you are a suit in Boston bringing a client to a game you get a box. That makes zero sense that's where you want the fans to be right on the ice. The best viewing is even in a box you see the whole ice.
This Celtics team is the Leafs of the NBA and I hate it Soooo much. Play up and down to their opponent looking for calls constantly trouble closing a series. All the talent in the world but no snarl 🤦♂️
When Adam mentions multiple sports.... boxing and reflecting on boxer punching himself in the head, and I remember Blue Jays pitcher a sports analogy regarding hockey.
I agree with Adam about the fans not being too vocal vs platinum seats being all corporate. But to be fair I have also been to a preseason game in MTL that had more vibe and action than a Saturday jight game in Toronto. Its also a culture thing. Go see s rock show in Montreal as opposed to Toronto. Totally different ball game
When Tavares was a little younger and there was that playoff game against the Bruins in 2019, when it turned into Rollerball meets the Road Warrior officiating, the only Leafs not giving up a lot physically were Marleau and Tavares, before Khadri lost his mind and got suspended. They missed the playoffs in the Bubble and then the next year in game 1 in the North Division, Tavares took a header into Corey Perry's knee. At 33, someone else probably needs to be the tough skilled guy.
On the subject of changing songs that introduce the team, I've always felt like one of the best buildup/anticipation songs for that would be Dream Theater's Metropolis Part I, which has an absolutely perfect timing for a team to start charging onto the ice surface
Have you considered that someone at the higher ups at the Leafs club does not like Steve and simply doesn’t want him to live stream playoffs watch alongs? It’s clear that even some of the boys at the Leafs team doesn’t like Steve.
It always amazes me how this teams pp doesnt set up matthews for one-timers with the laser of a shot he has. Also, they create little to no chaos in front of the goalie. No reason this pp should be as stale as it is, with how stacked the units are.
4:31 I doubt it is you, considering how many home losses they have had. 28:46 For some reason, my memory remembers rookie Rielly actually shooting a lot more? Or am I miss remembering? 58:34 Matt Murray! 1:04:03 … new coach?
Im not cheering for TO but, i think there are at least 16 coaches in the NHL that can take this leaf team to the stanley cup final.. Imagine having Tortorella coaching this team in the playoff ???
I also can’t stand the leafs and was praying Bruce Cassidy didn’t go there lol. Any coach that can install some good team d would create a very dominant team. The cap is a problem but a good coach can simplify d zone for defencemen. Side note the leafs had extensive convos with swayman pre draft and eventually didn’t draft him lol.
And how many teams passed on Kuch, or point, or pasta? Without injury and retiring at 25 we will never know what Ian Scott could have been... But Boston was also looking at another goalie (who was likely Scott) and took the next one up @@trevorrochon6983
@DR.DisInfect better on paper? Their D and Goaltending is far inferior to what boston has. Their forwards are only marginally better and actually not as good in the playoffs as the bruins.
My wife and I were at the leafs game against the Coyotes in February. I was in the lower bowl (corporate section) because it was a 30th birthday present. While at the game the seats all around me were all talking about work. Clearly the organization needs to prioritize those seats for more fans. My wife and I were the loudest in our section for sure.
I legit lived in a small town called Mannville, my k-12 school had 300 ppl maybe. My grade 12 class 6 years later in Red Deer had 420. I chuckled during the BP promo
Adam is bang on (regarding not trusting the team and their track record of blowing it). I stopped watching games a couple of years ago. I just got sick and tired of spending 3 hours watching a game, being all happy, only to see them lose to AZ or blow a lead and lose the game Columbus. I don't even watch playoff games anymore. Too stressful and they always find a way to lose. The last time I watched was the TOR/MTL series during COVID. They were gifted a possible seat in the final 4 and despite being up 3-1 to MTL, just found ways to blow each game and the series. It was at that point I was done. I said during the off season to trade Nylander at his peak value and get better help in goal and on the blue line. They refused to move on from the core, which has shown is incapable of doing it. It's not the right mix, too many cooks in the kitchen. The team should be built around Austin and Marner. I would have traded Nylander and looked for a way to move Tavares to free up cap space for quality blue line help and hopefully a more stable goalie. They too top heavy and too easy to shut down. This is the "grittiest" they've been in years, which helps, their blue line and goaltending is not "cup worthy". They are wasting the prime years of their core players right now.

Bruins depth goals are 2 goals from Frederic, one from Geekie, one from Carlo, and one from Beecher. Top six goals are three from DeBrusk, two from Marchand, one from Pasta. Bruins depth is doing just fine
Defensive lapses for the Leafs. Boston deserves credit for its forechecking, but the Leafs' defense kept passing the puck back behind the net only to then pass it along the boards... to the the Bruins d-man at the point. Smarter d-to-d passing and zone breakouts would help them so much. Is it the system or the personnel?
As a Rangers fan, I appreciate Jesse repping the team. Also, as an American - What is Boston Pizza? This sounds like they are a restaurant that serves the most random mish-mash of things like Cheesecake Factory or Applebees. Just pick a thing and stick with it. Also, speaking of fishbowls, there is a Mexican restaurant in my college town that used to serve margaritas in actual fishbowls on Cinco de Mayo
55:33 as a goalie, I used to lose focus sometimes, and I would like to try to punch the puck with my knuckles, but if you know how a blocker is. The blocker face on the back of your hand, so you need to punch the puck with the back of your wrist. So it's a simple thing a NHL goalie shouldn't F up
You can call Swayman falling a dive, but I honestly think that he meant so spin a little and fell down by accident and was too embarrassed to get mad lol Also if u can call that a dive then Bertuzzi surely dove to try and draw a call on Marchand when Freddie scored

Then he should've said that, unless he's in cahoots with the suits.
@@Puckhog that seems pretty convoluted and makes no sense to me
@@avecaesar8519 nah
Ironically, because this is the first time that the Bruins are "beatable" (which i agree with), we'll lose to them in 5 in typical Leafs fashion.
Re power play:
1. Replace elite shooter ( Nylander missing ) with elite shooter ( Robertson )
2. Speed - passing is too slow, from the first drop back pass to the last controlled pass
3. Speed - everyone should be moving, even net-front and bumper should be doing short distances and possibly interchanging
Jesus.
Why is no one mentioning that Sammy was too deep in his net on Marchand goal.
He doesn’t have a stick
The war of 1812. The Industrial Revolution. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I want Adam to compare/relate the Visigoths to this playoffs run. I believe in him.
Also no one thought the Pens had a shot this season with Dubas and turns out they just missed out.
Yeah, that was cuz of Crosby playing absolutely unreal down the stretch. Without him, they're in the basement of the league.
While true one player can’t save a whole team. Heck 4 players can’t save some teams? Jinx!!!!
Pens were never gonna make it, and if they did would have been swept. The only reason they were even close is because 4 TEAMS decided they didnt want it. A caps team with a -37 is better than the penguins. Think about that.
From what we've seen from the Caps thru 3 games I think I would rather have seen the Pens give it a shot.
Adam Wylde: "People need to HAVE FUN AND BE LOUD AT LEAFS GAMES"
Adam Wylde at a leafs game: "Mmmm yes let me sit and take 14 pages of meticulous notes on this sports event" /s
We need a SDPN vs. BarDown floorball game!!!!
I think there’s pills for that.
Yeah it's willytime
Blue Chew would be a perfect helmet sponsor for the Leafs
Nice to see you addressed the surround of Bears.
Right on Adam - “Effing’ Win”, or at the very friggin’ least “Lose Better” for the love of Austin!
Kings do suck... sorry.
Steve’s Scarborough crewneck sweater goes so hard. Get this man some New Balances and the dad fit will be off the charts!
God bless Adam for sticking up for the fans at the game. I couldn’t agree more.
❤ @ 1:11:40 Adam blows a gasket and I loved that raw emotion for the rest of this segment
the only podcast a listen too
Hard to believe that the only player talked about in the Tampa/Florida series was Carter. How the hell do you not spend time going over both their goalies and the absolute bananas saves they made?
No Willy that's a PP problem
Golden.
They were bad with willy too. They've been bad for 5 years in the playoffs with willy.
They're fine without Willy. The problem is that the coaching staff makes no adjustments to the bruins collapsing in front of the net.
He's down because he lost his stick!!! That's the right play. It was a great shot
That title goes hard…. or not 😂
I think the reffing has been far and away better than it was last year.
The power play needs to be better but bertuzzi and Tavares both have to score when they get those point blank chances
At 33, someone else probably needs to be the tough skilled guy.
the leafs should make Steve the play by play on tv, that way yall can have your own Jack Edwards!!
No it's called star problems 😅😅
On the subject of changing songs that introduce the team, I've always felt like one of the best buildup/anticipation songs for that would be Dream Theater's Metropolis Part I, which has an absolutely perfect timing for a team to start charging onto the ice surface
Have you considered that someone at the higher ups at the Leafs club does not like Steve and simply doesn’t want him to live stream playoffs watch alongs? It’s clear that even some of the boys at the Leafs team doesn’t like Steve.
Or, they just don't care. He isn't big enough for them to take notice.
1:11:36 Adam’s reaction here is me watching the LA Kings against Edmonton
Im not cheering for TO but, i think there are at least 16 coaches in the NHL that can take this leaf team to the stanley cup final.. Imagine having Tortorella coaching this team in the playoff ???
I hate the leafs but it they had him they'd 💯 get past Boston for sure. They are so much better on paper 📃 🏒
51:00 i actually watch those ads there awesome ha now we need zoom in on the cards
Yes steve the structure of the tweet is crucial to this LOL
Tim Hortons CEO "how do we make useless hockey cards, but on the cheap?" - Tim Hortons marketing "why don't we put 2 guys on a card, so we don't have to print as many cards?"
PP problem, here's a willy cure.
VGK have a show and it feels like a night club in the arena all night. It’s not that hard to figure out how to change the atmosphere.
Talk about the leafs getting E-Rekt by the bruins on the power play.
Yes, this comment was purely to poke fun at the title of this episode.
54:39
😂😂 I can’t lol
1:41:28 Steve sounds like a guy who is going to pay a visit on the refs home 😅 "And the address is..."
55:33 as a goalie, I used to lose focus sometimes, and I would like to try to punch the puck with my knuckles, but if you know how a blocker is. The blocker face on the back of your hand, so you need to punch the puck with the back of your wrist. So it's a simple thing a NHL goalie shouldn't F up
Did you guys talk about the hit hyman had on danault? HUGE. Jumped out of my chair
Canda has plenty of cups! 😂The habs have all of them
You can call Swayman falling a dive, but I honestly think that he meant so spin a little and fell down by accident and was too embarrassed to get mad lol
Also if u can call that a dive then Bertuzzi surely dove to try and draw a call on Marchand when Freddie scored
As a NYR fan, Adam is 100% right. New York City has its hockey fans but hockey is almost certainly behind baseball and basketball and arguably football
Everyone needs to see the dive by swayman can’t believe ppl bought it
as a stars fan, besides some of our guys seemingly disappearing, vegas looks unbeatable in every way. They know Deboers system (their old coach - and assistant too I believe in Spott), and Deboer is much like that dwayne casey analogy where the system HAS to figure itself out
The Panarin hit was called a major, reviewed, and reverted to no penalty.... so take that for what it's worth.
Divers lol. Bertuzzi leaping off both his feet when Marchand tripped him was hilarious. Matthews diving in game 2 when coyle held him. Every single player sells calls. Thinking the leafs are above it all is nuts.
Samsonov did not have his stick he’s down low and drops early to protect 5 hole on the 3rd goal
When talking about Verhaeghe being the most clutch player in overtime... Tkachuk has 3 ot playoff goals in 7 games played which is insane as well, if there is a team you dont want to see in OT it is the Panthers
I just want to say thank you to Jesse for advocating to keep samsonov in for game 4.
Playing "Enter Sandman" in 2024 is very much your dad's Leafs. That song was released in 1991.
1:23:45: New york guy here. Mets are much bigger than Rangers. New York lives and breaths baseball when the summer comes around. It's just different from anything I've experienced New York baseball is fantastic time
We only need 6 chirps my friend they all work way too well.
