It would be more helpful for the general public to understand the geography of the daily storm conditions and limitations to their travelling needs, which could also include public transportation services. Less news yakker, more empathy to practical guidance.

Yes I am half nz lived in nz half my life so far and half qld. They are getting Aussie specialists over. What they need is to organise volunteer clean ups, rubbish trucks and support because you can't just let the house dry out. It's now a hazard and there will be filth like crazy

Honestly i drove to work in the worst of it on fri arvo. It was alot of rain. Got held up by the thousands of elton john concert goers. The parts that flooded have poor drainage and should be sorted by roadworks fast. However Labour loves a good emergency right quick to flex on us after the storm.

hey so at least 3 people died and i, along with a heaping portion of west auckland, have lost my home and my safety to sewage due to floods overwhelming our drainage systems - not to mention the power cuts, the lack of safe running water, etc. it was pretty damn bad. you are not the only person in the world.

That's why I just look at the rain radar map. I don't trust those generalised forecasts due to the fact that I live in a rural area.
