***** It is amazing. Pack a lunch, and you can eat it at the beach, make a sandcastle, whatever. Michigan City and the surrounding area is pretty cool, that's why I love living here
When on Franklin, you passed Carlson's Drive Inn on the right. I think right after the thrift store. Should have stopped there to get a root beer and chili dog. Then you turned right at about 17:00. Should have kept going straight to the beachfront. Lots of parking at Washington Park. Park close to the lake, then walk out on the pier to the light house. The 2 good things about Michigan City.
Thanks for the tips! I wanted to drive over to Washington Park that day, but I remember the traffic was terrible. However, I definitely want to return at some point, and that will certainly be a place I would like to check out.
I grew up in MC, and couldn’t wait to leave. For the life of me, I’ll never understand why people see it as a destination. It’s only redeeming factors are Lake Michigan and it’s proximity to Chicago
It's hard to say, but I'm sure Lake Michigan is definitely a likely reason. I definitely would like to check out the city again soon especially since I would like to visit Indiana Dunes State Park nearby.
Scottman895 Travel if you do visit, avoid the chain style places as far as food goes. Albanos Pizza on Franklin-is amazing, 30’years later I still dream of their pizza. There’s also Carlson’s drive in (a local institution), and an amazing ice cream parlor across the street on Coolspring (bubbles) . The zoo is fun too.
The beach in the summer that's it. I was born and raised there. Good memories but this town leads you to no where. 2 of my children have moved back there and i go there once a year for 3 days.
Nice video of your city and its quite a good size too, but i was expecting to see more of a hipster type downtown like a Bloomington, Muncie, Lafayette or even kokomo, but overall still a nice downtown and video thanks for posting.Tony j. Indianapolis.
Thank you, although I am not from Michigan City. It was my first trip to the area, but I definitely would like to head back there again soon. Thanks for watching!
I was planning to in this video, but I had to cancel because there were severe traffic backups going that way. I did film a regular vlog of Michigan City back in 2019 where I did go to the waterfront though.
Did I miss something? I was watching this video not only to see you drive through the town but to see the lake shore.....did I miss something? I am disappointed.
No worries. I wanted to head by the shore but the traffic heading that direction was completely stopped when I went there. I would like to get back to Michigan City later this year to do a video as I really would like to check out the lake shore as I've been hearing that it is one of the best things to see in the area.
You skipped the Marina, lighthouse, Washington park, train trestle, Naval Armory, Washington park beach, Trail Creek, and all the most important things in Michigan City.
That's a good question. Although the list can change as I visit new states, here is the current top 3 states I have traveled to in my opinion (excluding Michigan as Michigan is my home state): 1. Colorado 2. Massachusetts 3. California
***** Colorado is #1 for me as well. I love towns like Durango, Telluride, Estes Park, Breckenridge etc. I also love Arizona but haven't traveled to as many states as you. I want to explore Oregon pretty soon and New Mexico and Vermont.
Brings back memories of up to the mid 1990's when we used to visit relatives.
Very nice! I can only imagine what it was like back then.
I haven't been home in awhile, thanks for the tour.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
Rj Sekerk im from the city too
I am a former resident of Michigan City, Indiana. Born and raised there.
Indiana dunes state park had some really good trails. It's amazing running down the dune, and the different environments is lovely
That's awesome to hear! I would like to get over to that park sometime.

It safe to live? is Michigan city safe?

Scottman895 Travel The dunes and Lighthouse Pier are a must visit. The summer is the best time to visit them.
You should have drove passed the park, zoo & beach. Those are the best parts of the city. Lake Michigan is beautiful.
I totally agree! That's why I went back a few years later to vlog over at the park area. It is quite impressive!

You totally missed the waterfront which makes Michigan City as tourist destination.

at 21:01 when you get at that light and turn left my old house would be down that street on Belden
You missed Main Street downtown.

Vermont is really nice! I was there back in April, and the scenery around the Green Mountains is absolutely beautiful.
A house like a month ago exploded because of a gas leak here in Michigan City, Indiana.
Yikes, that's awful!
Saw my school and street!
At 13:20 I live around there just turn left and my house is right there!
All you have to do is ask for a tour...
Yea you lowkey just past my house

he did drive right into the bad neighborhood
i was like yeahh hes not from mc
Tkrazyfrmtse what areas should I avoid? I'm visiting next week
