The best part of the area is the lakeshore, which you studiously avoided for some odd reason. The city itself isn't much to see, as you demonstrated in your video.
@@RoadTourBySlipstream family built and owned a home on Lake Shore Drive just across from Lake Michigan and down the road from Dr. Scholl's home there as the enclave used to be ritzy. Michigan City was the summer destination of Western Electric's company picnic where thousands of employees arrived on the Eastlake from Chicago early 1900s, except the year that unbalanced tub flipped in harbor while boarding killing many. MC was a bootlegger's paradise back in the day and from my personal experience very racist. Your film shows a tired poorly cared for town that time has passed by. It's downtown aside from some nice churches is nothing to write home about, in the shadow of 0:02 nuclear power plant on her shores most businesses bought into mall life and that's why the dull city center. Other than the lake front view I don't miss it much❤️🩹
Would you really help me line off? Now you go get your friends, you know the rest of the marine, I'm sure they'd like to see that we're gonna help your friend.
@@DMBall Where do you get the idea there is no more train service from Michigan City. The South Shore Express has two stops in town for eastbound trips to South Bend and westbound trips to Chicago.
Haven't been there in a long time
Thanks for watching!

Yes, it was avoided. I can't remember why. Could have been time restraint. We will be back I'm sure. Thanks for watching!
I didn’t see anything that looked like a downtown. And where was the lakeshore?
This is Michigan City, Indiana. We enter the downtown area around 2:13 mark in the video. It’s not a big city. Thanks for watching!

Wish they'd re-open train service.

@@greg6363 No Amtrak
@@DMBall At least you can use the South Shore train to pick up an Amtrak train in Chicago.
