Great review as always...I have two (2015 and 2016) Multi’s which I love. I did have a chance to quickly demo ride the new MS. One of the most profound things I loved which was not mentioned in this review is the quick shifter transmission. It is brilliant, seemless and smooth. Now that is coming from someone who has only ridden an aftermarket quick shifter and not a fully integrated unit. I’m not spoiled with many of the sport bikes which come standard with that technology so for those who haven’t experienced this you will love the transmission on the new MS as I am sure are on many other bikes. My two cents. 👍🏻

Thanks Neeves! I purchased a 916 as my “road bike”. When I was racing a Suzuki GSXR-750 (mid 90’s obviously) which was quicker then. I only wish that I held onto my 916. Not for how they ride (it was a very difficult bike to manage). However, my racing experience, over 3 years in the mid to late nineties. At that time the 916 (our its baby brother being the 748) meant that (for me) what and how I learnt how to go fast, deep and hard, went out the window! In the 90’s Ducati’s had a mind all to themselves. Especially if you were used to the equivalent power out from the top 4 Japanese bikes. The original 916 (for WSB) and the 748 ( for the 600 class), were extremely different to ride! Let along race on. Me being an ex Australian Superbike racer, who competed in the 96 and 97 WSB at Phillip Island then I at the very least have a humble opinion. Great work Neeves! I love each and every video you post! I reckon you should be asking your boss for a significant pay rise as I’m sure I’m not the only fan and the honesty you provide! 👍😎🇦🇺

Riding position is similar to the GS for sure, but I was reminded of the S1000XR when I first rode the V4. The Ducati engine sounded like a twin but definately felt like a four when it picked up speed. Not a bad thing at all, it's just a more refined Multi, a logical pregression, but also a widening disparity between the move toward sensible touring and the larger front wheel, but overall it's a better bike than the previous one.

I don't know where you are in the world but here in the uk that is just not the case. In 2020 BMW had 4 models in the UK top selling bikes over 500cc. The S1000XR was 10th, The S1000RR was 6th ( so THE best selling large capacity sports bike in the UK), The 1250 GS was 2nd and the 1250GSA 1st. These 4 bikes were also the 4 most expensive bikes to buy in the top 10 and accounted for 45% of those sales. Ducati on the other hand did not have a single bike in the top 10.

Great review Neevesy, thanks. I had a 1200S DVT for 4 years but traded it in last September. It was a fantastic bike, and I’m sure the V4 is too. However, at well over 21K, it’s simply pushing things too far for me. Appreciate what you say about the bigger front wheel, but the DVT with its sporty 17” front was one of the reasons I liked it so much. I wanted a sporty ‘Adventure Bike’ and I never had any intention whatsoever of taking it off-road. You say it’s like a big red GS, but for me it looks like a Honda. Really interesting comments about the adaptive cruise control and I’m sure many people will pick up on that as it’s so new most of us haven’t experienced it on a bike yet. And only 179 mile tank range for such a bike? That doesn’t work for me I’m afraid. So all in all I’m glad I didn’t hang around for the V4, and am very happy I decided on a 1290GT. Just hoping for this bloody pandemic to clear off so I can get back on it again!

Same-ish dilemma here. I want a 17" wheel. The Pikes Peak will have one. But then it won't have a load-adjustable adjustable suspension. And fuel mileage remains mediocre. Maybe a 17" wheel can be retrofitted off a Pikes Peak. Yet that mileage.... To me--bike seems a bit confused as to it's mission. Waiting for a 2022 Supeduke GT v.3 for now.

That was a really good review, really balanced and explained well.
I think you summed up adaptive cruise really well, nice to have but doesn’t work great all the time. I think for people who have lived with ACC in their own cars for a long time; you’ll realise that ACC does have its quirks and limitations.
As for fuel consumption, it sounds really poor and you’re not the first to say it. Nobody expects great FC from a Ducati, but for an adventure bike you’d expect better!
    Thanks N!

I can certainly empathise. I’ve had a wide range of inexpensive, middling and “how much...” times of bikes.
But... some of the most entertaining rides. I’ll rephrase that. THE most entertaining tour was done in 2003 on a 1985 BMW R100RT (cost £1200 with 25,000 miles on the clock). Portsmouth to Barcelona and back, vibrating brakes (warped disks) an engine that gave me burn marks on my inner thighs necessitating the ride back being on a thick towel.... yep, that big old brick engine certainly pushed out a huge amount of heat!
It was in the sort of pre-internet days when you could just rock up to a foreign hotel and rooms hadn’t been all booked online beforehand. It was adventure and off road ability wasn’t required. Whisper it quietly France and Spain have excellent roads and are a million times better than ours.
So enjoy that Tracer and one day life might just present you with the opportunity for a “how much...” bike. Grab it and smile and for a little while don’t worry about the negatives and just enjoy. After last year and this one there is a lot of “enjoying” to be had 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I don't think it's worth it, its definitely better in someway, but the 1260 still have the more suiting engine for the job

@@ezrapardede1921 don’t really want a GS alternative as I like the v twins handling and performance, and still comfie. Will stick with the multi v2 I think

Good review Michael, honest and realistic to hear of its negative points as well 👍
Too thirsty and about 5 grand overpriced, depreciation will be astronomical on this but nobody will care as very few people purchase bikes outright these days, they’re all on the never-never and all people think about is “ £250 quid a month pcp....yeah I can afford that “
Drop all the electronic gubbins like radar cruise control,...who actually asks for this stuff 🤷🏻‍♂️?? Belongs on your Audi motorway repmobile, not on a motorbike!

How is the low speed tractibility?
Does it heat up like a typical ducati in low speed and traffic? How is the heat management compared to bmw r1250gs?

if i would like to have a GS, i would buy one... that was the great thing about the multi 1200/1260. almost superbike steering with the almost comfort of a touring bike... how does the bike do on the shorter stuff? does it feel slugish now? if that is the case, I wouldn't buy and I would keep my SMT...

I traded my 2020 v4 panigqle in against the new v4s full multi and to be honest I like the bike but the power just isn't there at all compared to the panigale, also feel lots of vibrations threw the bike causing knumb hands and crutch area and tingly feet , I don't personally rate the multi as much as I should do having a 2015 before . 2500 mls since September 2nd in first three weeks and seems the vibration is getting worse and I don't know where the 160 mph comes from ? Mine does 145 flat out with leathers on , very disappointed.

Good review - spot on! I own one and would've liked to see narrower or adjustable handlebars, more windscreen coverage, significant increase in cruising mileage or larger tank, more headlight AND don't call it a touring motorcycle if it doesn't come equipped (paid) with maps you can download. Having bitched about its flaws, I say it handles excellently, way better than the GS1250. Just my two bits worth.

Great warts and all review, one of the best I've watched for a long time thankyou. With full face helmets restricting the riders vision that blind spot technology should be on all bikes IMO. At £21.5k that's a huge amount of money though I guess most will be sold on a PCP and all they'll be interested in are the monthly payments. In general the prices of these top end adventure bikes seem to be getting a bit ridiculous now. I paid just over 16k for my new 1250 GS TE exclusive 12 months ago which seems like a positive bargain in comparison!

Ducati - give us a simplified version of the V4 Multi with less electronics, lighter weight and cheaper price tag. THAT would sell bikes. Having a range to chose from. The 950 is cool but definitely no V4.
