You know what it is about the livestreams? The newer youtube advice channels are edited like a tiktok,.All those cuts, animations and flashiness distract from the value of the information they are giving. The fact that you take your time on subjects makes a huge difference. It gives time for reflection.
Love your channel. Thank you for speaking about the older audiences. I just had this discussion with another group of people over fifty. We are on YT a lot. It is a necessary search tool for all of the topics we're interested in and to solve problems. We're not paying attention to thumbnails as much as relevant titles. Also, getting right to the subject without a lot of intro is important.
Ok. I subscribed after the advice for getting a room at the library to record. LOL Genius! It's quiet and free. I'm officially here to see what else you have on this channel!
It’s so true that we need to know who our audience is and cater to them. All of the TH-cam growth channels are teaching that thumbnails need to be like Mr Beasts. I know those won’t fly with my customers. It’s not a cookie cutter system. Thanks for keeping it real!
Yeah, there are tactics that MrBeast does their work if you follow their PRINCIPLES but not if you only mimic them without context or what doesn’t and doesn’t apply to your audience…
I'd just say it's such a spineless move for an anonymous person to say someone else's project was a failure. First of all, what's the point of saying it? Then, how can someone say it's a failure when it's an ongoing thing? Success/failure is not determined at just one point in time but can only be established at the end of the project, i.e. when someone gives up and scraps the whole thing, then it's probably a failure. Kudos to Roberto for trying out new things and making strides there!
I found you! I think you will help me learn a lot! Your channel came up when I was watching TH-cam logged out on a tv..this 60 year old content creator learned a lot in the first 30 minutes
@@RobertoBlake I just think about knowing your audience and demographics. I have been editing my videos to the hilt to make a fast video..I don’t know..most of my audience is 65+. I’ve been at this for 3 years and need to figure this out
Roberto is absolutely right on CPM RPM demographics. We are an edutainment, but heavy on the entertainment. An 85k view and counting video is over 9 dollar RPM. At one point over 10 dollars.
What to do if you’re multifaceted? I’ve made niche specific channels and grew one of them to 2M. I just have really bad adhd and get bored of things really fast so I think the best thing for me specifically would be to somehow make content with all of my different interests. How would I go about this?
New subscriber here. Thank you sooo much for this information. I am starting my channel and having a hard time figuring it out and now i think I know what I want to do. You are awesome and very helpful. 😊
Just subbed, im the kind of guy that likes to find someone who I think has the best source of info and stick to then and Im confident youre thst guy. This video was so inspiring and gave me so many ideas on how to continue ky channel growth. Thanks Roberto
🎉🎉🎉 thank you very much for your knowledge and wisdom and information, this content was really needed in my content creating, i had a channel for years and haven't been able to get it monetize and i kind of see why, with all you share and i see where i can get better and with your wisdom and guidance video i know i will get there
Interesting: Even Mr Beast found out the open mouth thing doesn’t work as well. He A/B tested two thumbnails, one with open mouth, one without. The one with closed mouth did much better. Might be a signal that style isn’t working any more
@@RobertoBlake That's my sense as well. BTW, very excited about more livestreams coming! Working my way through this one now. Good stuff as always my friend.
Thank you Roberto this stream was very enlightening and I have learn a lot. I’m not in the position to get into your academy right now so this has help.
I can relate to the importance of audience avatar. In the Customer Experience profession there's a similar term for audience avatar which is customer persona.
15:17 bro 👌 another wise, soloution. All the best martial artist in China live in the bush, they train in the mountains where it is tranquil with no interruptions, it helps them hone there skills, and learn to conserve there energy. It's mainly to practice there forms, in peace and quiet, them forms are like meditating, and they generate so much body heat, if you practice the forms at the speed of a flower blooming, that is pretty slow. If you do it properly the heat that your body generates is enough to dry a wet tissue that is resting on your shoulder, if your doing the forms properly and the right speed, (flower blooming speed) rather then the speed, of you getting burnt and pulling away from the fire that burnt, you, that type of reflex speed is quick asf. That's the type of speed reflex you need when your doing skateboard tricks, that reflex speed kicking your tail down to Ollie. Hot patatoe speed reflex.
42:58 I edit footage that quick now, the app I use glitches out, and kicks me out of it, to many operations happening all at once it can't keep up with all the operations I'm feeding it.
33:28 wow everything you just said, I been doing. On my journey. Self taught. I just been studying things I don't know about, I learnt you need to crop vids and make them fit to templates to crop the whole yt screen. I never use to do that, and now I learnt how to customise elements, and timeline layers and duplicating, I been using canva it's good for the level I'm at atm. And I been looking at the audience anylitics. I just don't want to click baits I want my titles to be what it is, you might upset yt too by misleading titles. I think it's strike worthy
Dear Roberto, I'm trying to do more work on TH-cam but have mostly been concerned with producing more and preparing original work so far to apply most of your advices or suggestions FOR NOW (although I think I will apply more of them as I go on). Got to say I think the only one I think I will kind of keep away from is the niche ones (which is a bit of accepted wisdom by most on YT; I've once seen another channel commenting that Angry Joe should have made multiple channels for his different sort of content instead of all under the same Angry Joe one). Although the niche idea has positives for all the reason you've commented here and in other videos, I'd also say that making one channel succeed in 2020s TH-cam (especially reaching monetisation minimuns and exploring monetisation well) being so hard for creators when compared to pre-2012 one means that spreading your "eggs" across several "baskets" may also make reaching the watch time and view minimuns even harder, so unless one is able to make all the channels be very viewed, it may risk not having even one successful channel. On the other hand no channel identity may also mean you will not have a clear audience you can explore as viewers (or may mean you can explore partially several audiences well and you can even use more general videos as gateway to attract people you could not attract with more specific and more specifically in line with your personal tastes/views). At the end of the day, the creator is the one who will have to make his educated guess bet and define what may be better for himself and what work they can do. My 2 cents. Anyhow, keep up the good work, I'll keep watching and taking some notes of what I may do from your stuff.
Most people can’t get multiple channels to work because they can’t even get one to 10K subs. Niche down is proven, variety channels are an anomaly in terms of working out. But to each their own.
@@RobertoBlake That's why I don't object to the niche idea, since it is at least 90% of the time successful just to not be taken to the other extreme of assuming you should specify too much to the point of mutiple channels since most don't get 10k subs anyhow. To each one's own is the motto, not just in the "you do you" way but in the "adjust it to your own case, person and audience you start to get".
My audience is mainly around 25 to 34 yo. I'm in Australia, and my audience is USA and Australia, I really like stats of my audience. Cos that's round the age. There a bit wise, I have to be real with my content, cos this age category can also be critical. If they see things that aren't right they will speak up. And they do, but any publicity is good publicity, I don't Mind toxic comments cos thats all retention, as long as the opinions stay respectful.
Great advice and value here. I'm curious to know if there are any channels out there like mine that have 2.8k videos to only 1.52k subscribers. I would guess that most channels that have 2k or more videos probably have tens of thousands of subscribers. I'll be phasing out video uploads on my channel by the end of the year in order to use my time in more important areas.
Yes, those people exist. Your thumbnails suck. Your topics are also all over the place. It's also odd how your channel's home page has nothing - it should have a bunch of Playlists. If you want success on TH-cam you'll have to be pretty serious
Man, I feel like my content is WAY higher effort than the rest of my niche but hard to make that obvious. Maybe the niche just doesn't want what I'm serving?

@RobertoBlake turns out it's not an anomaly.... uploaded some of my videos on a new channel, same result.
