That is because to dig deeper you need inspiration which is usually from challenging ideas. College helped me dig deeper as it was presented as a challenge to the bible. On e you dig deeper you realize science and history actually support the Bible, it has just been taken over by those who dislike God.

Same boat, but it's taken me twice as long to realize I really don't know much. I'm reading through the entire bible in order and asking questions instead of saying "this is garbage and must be wrong". There are easily some weird things in the Bible that would make a casual reader think it was garbage (I Kings 22 is especially perplexing).

@Deewood9996 What did he make up? I know it's stated in the Quran and Hadiths the timeline of important Islamic figures but if you actually go into history there is no mention of them till the Quran is compiled.
      Here's Ibn Abas for example
Ibn Abbas a prominent companion of the Prophet Muhammad and a highly respected scholar in early Islamic history, has had his sayings and interpretations collected in various sources over centuries. The earliest sources containing his works include:
Hadith Collections: Some of Ibn Abbas's sayings are included in major hadith collections like Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, and others. These collections were compiled in the 9th century, but they contain narrations attributed to Ibn Abbas from much earlier times.
Tafsir (Quranic Exegesis): Ibn Abbas is renowned for his interpretations of the Quran. Early tafsir works, such as Tafsir Ibn Jarir al-Tabari (compiled in the 9th century), often cite Ibn Abbas as a source of interpretation.
Sira (Prophetic Biography): Early biographical works on the life of the Prophet Muhammad, like "Sirat Rasul Allah" by Ibn Ishaq (d. 767 CE) and later edited by Ibn Hisham (d. 833 CE), include accounts and narrations from Ibn Abbas.
Asbab al-Nuzul (Circumstances of Revelation): Works like "Asbab al-Nuzul" by al-Wahidi (d. 1075 CE) often cite Ibn Abbas to explain the context in which certain Quranic verses were revealed.
Other Early Islamic Literature: Various other early Islamic historical and legal texts also reference Ibn Abbas. Works by scholars like Ibn Sa'd (d. 845 CE) in "Kitab al-Tabaqat al-Kabir" and Al-Baladhuri (d. 892 CE) in "Ansab al-Ashraf" mention Ibn Abbas.

CHAIN of NARRATIONS: Both Christianity and Islam have (or utilize) chains of narrations.
In Christianity, the chain of narrations goes like this:
    From original language to Latin
    From original language to English
    From original language to German
    From original language to Spanish
    From original language to Chinese
    *
In Islam, the chain of narrations goes like this:
From one person to another person, then to another person, then to another person, then to another person, and so on for over 200 years before the Quran is written down in book form. We can see the evidence of the Islamic chain of narrations in the front pages of the 37 different Arabic Qurans - they all begin with “According to this person, according to this person, according to this person, and so on...”

@@antonny1735when you have multiple people all reporting on the same events(death & resurrection of Jesus), it's more likely to be true especially when many of the early followers of Jesus were killed for preaching about His death & resurrection. These followers were given the option of denying Christ and they could've lived but they never denied Him and accepted death.
Muhammad is one man who was allegedly given the quran from God but if you look at how he received the revelation, what the revelation was about & the fact that a lot of the stories in the quran was taken from gnostic sources etc, its easy to figure out if muhammad was a true prophet or not.

    Christian "chain of transmission":
The claim that Christians can trust the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) were written by the apostles or their close associates is based on several lines of evidence, including historical tradition, early church writings, and scholarly research. Here's an overview of the key points supporting this claim:
    ### 1. **Historical Tradition and Church Fathers:**
Early church fathers, such as Papias, Irenaeus, and Clement of Alexandria, provide testimonies that link the Gospels to their traditional authors. These figures were not merely ignorant; they were historians, theologians (both Jews and Gentiles), and philosophers:
    - **Ignatius of Antioch (c. 35-108 AD):** Early Christian writer and bishop of Antioch. In his letters, Ignatius quotes from the Gospels, indicating their early use and acceptance in the Christian community. He also emphasizes the authority of the apostles.
    - **Papias (c. 60-130 AD):** According to Eusebius, Papias reported that Matthew wrote his Gospel in the language of the Jews of their days and that Mark wrote down Peter's teachings accurately.
    - **Polycarp (c. 69-155 AD):** A disciple of John, who in turn influenced Irenaeus.
    - **Justin Martyr (c. 100-165 AD):** Early Christian apologist and philosopher. In his writings, Justin refers to the "Memoirs of the Apostles," which most scholars believe to be references to the Gospels. This shows their widespread use by the mid-2nd century.
    - **Tatian (c. 120-180 AD):** Early Christian writer and apologist. Tatian compiled the *Diatessaron*, a harmony of the four Gospels, around 160-175 AD. This work indicates that the four Gospels were well established and authoritative by this time.
    - **Irenaeus (c. 130-202 AD):** Irenaeus explicitly names the four Gospels and their authors, attributing Matthew and John to the apostles and Mark and Luke to close associates of the apostles (Mark to Peter and Luke to Paul).
    - **Clement of Alexandria (c. 150-215 AD):** Clement notes that the Gospels with genealogies (Matthew and Luke) were written first, followed by Mark and John.
    - **Tertullian (c. 155-240 AD):** Early Christian author from Carthage. Tertullian frequently quotes the Gospels and attributes them to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, supporting their traditional authorship.
    - **Origen (c. 184-253 AD):** Early Christian scholar and theologian. Origen's extensive writings confirm the authorship of the Gospels as traditionally attributed. He also provides interpretations and commentaries on these texts.
    - **Eusebius of Caesarea (c. 260-340 AD):** Early church historian. In his *Ecclesiastical History*, Eusebius provides valuable information about the origins of the Gospels and quotes earlier sources, solidifying the chain of tradition.
    - **Athanasius of Alexandria (c. 296-373 AD):** Bishop of Alexandria and key figure in early Christianity. In his 39th Festal Letter (367 AD), Athanasius lists the 27 books of the New Testament, including the four Gospels, reflecting their accepted status.
(Here’s a fun fact: The Council of Nicaea held discussions between Athanasius (defending the uncreated nature of Jesus) and Arius (defending that Jesus was created). The debate was not about whether Jesus was divine but whether Jesus was created. It was therefore Trinitarians against Unitarians.
Fun fact for Muslims: Constantine persecuted the Trinitarians and was baptized by Unitarians (oops... Muslim conspiracy theory debunked).)
    ### 2. **Manuscript Evidence:**
While we don't possess the original manuscripts of the Gospels, the existing manuscripts and their early dates of composition, plus the chain of narration mentioning them, support their reliability:
    - The Gospels are believed to have been written between 60 and 100 AD.
    - The earliest fragments of the Gospels, such as the Rylands Library Papyrus P52 (a fragment of the Gospel of John), date to around 125 AD.
    ### 3. **Internal Evidence:**
The content and style of the Gospels reflect the backgrounds and perspectives of their attributed authors:
    - **Matthew:** Written for a Jewish audience, with a focus on how Jesus fulfills Old Testament prophecies.
    - **Mark:** Considered to reflect Peter's perspective, with a straightforward, action-oriented narrative.
    - **Luke:** A well-researched account, addressed to Theophilus, showing a concern for historical detail and a Gentile audience.
    - **John:** A theological reflection on Jesus' life, focusing on his divine nature and written by someone close to Jesus.
    ### 4. **Chain of Narration:**
The concept of a chain of narration involves tracing the teachings from the apostles through their disciples to subsequent generations.
    ### 5. **Scholarly Consensus:**
While there is ongoing debate and scholarship around the exact authorship and composition of the Gospels, many scholars agree that the traditional attributions are plausible based on the available evidence.
    ### Conclusion:
The claim that Christians can trust the traditional authorship of the Gospels is supported by historical tradition, testimonies of early church fathers, manuscript evidence, internal literary analysis, and the concept of a chain of narration. However, it's important to note that this evidence is interpreted within the framework of faith, and some scholars offer alternative perspectives on the origins of the Gospels.
    ----------
    Let's not forget the ***Didache***:
    #### **Overview:**
The Didache is a short early Christian treatise that includes instructions on Christian ethics, rituals such as baptism and the Eucharist, and church organization (basically is like a Catequesis/Instructions manual). It is believed to be one of the earliest (if not the earliest) non-canonical writings, providing a window into early Christian practices and beliefs.
    #### **Relevance to the Gospels:**
    1. **Early Use and Authority:**
    - The Didache refers to teachings attributed to Jesus and reflects the moral and ethical instructions found in the Gospels. This indicates that the core teachings of Jesus, as recorded in the Gospels, were already being disseminated and followed by early Christian communities.
    2. **Liturgical Practices:**
    - The Didache outlines practices such as the Eucharist, which align closely with the Last Supper accounts in the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke). This consistency suggests a common source of tradition and supports the early formation and use of Gospel texts.
    3. **Community Structure:**
    - The text describes the roles of bishops and deacons, echoing the organizational structure mentioned in the pastoral epistles and Acts. This reflects a continuity of leadership and teaching from the apostolic era, supporting the chain of narration that links the apostles to the Gospel writers.
    4. **Teachings of Jesus:**
    - The ethical teachings in the Didache closely parallel the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) and other Gospel teachings. This indicates that the oral and written traditions captured in the Gospels were widely recognized and authoritative in early Christian instruction.
    - **Support from Church Fathers:**
    - Early church fathers, such as Eusebius and Athanasius, acknowledged the Didache as a valuable document for understanding early Christian practices, further validating its significance and the teachings it contains.
    -----------
References to the Gospels by opponents of early Christianity can also lend credibility to their early and widespread acceptance. The fact that critics of Christianity felt the need to address the Gospels indicates that these texts were significant and authoritative enough to be worth opposing. Here are a few examples:
    ### 1. **Celsus (2nd Century AD):**
Celsus was a Greek philosopher and a vocal critic of Christianity. In his work *The True Word* (circa 177 AD), Celsus critiques Christian doctrines and quotes from the Gospels to argue against them. His detailed knowledge of the Gospels and his efforts to refute them suggest that they were widely known and influential by his time. The fact that Origen felt compelled to write a comprehensive rebuttal (*Contra Celsum*) further underscores the importance and acceptance of the Gospels in early Christian communities.
    ### 2. **Porphyry (3rd Century AD):**
Porphyry was a philosopher and critic of Christianity who wrote a series of works against the Christian faith, including *Against the Christians*. He attacked the authenticity and reliability of the Gospels, particularly focusing on inconsistencies and perceived errors. Despite his criticisms, his engagement with the Gospels indicates their widespread use and significance.
    ### 3. **Emperor Julian the Apostate (4th Century AD):**
Julian, a Roman emperor who rejected Christianity and attempted to revive paganism, wrote *Against the Galileans*, in which he criticized Christian beliefs and the Gospels. Julian's need to address the Gospels and the points he raised against them illustrate their authoritative status within the Christian community.
    ### 4. **Rabbinic Literature:**
Jewish critiques of Christianity in rabbinic literature often reference Jesus and the Gospels, albeit sometimes in veiled or polemical terms. These critiques acknowledge the influence and spread of Gospel narratives.
    ### Conclusion:
The engagement of critics and opponents with the Gospels indicates that these texts were recognized as authoritative and central to the Christian faith from an early period. Their attempts to refute or discredit the Gospels actually serve as indirect testimony to their significance and widespread acceptance.

The eye witnesses of the biblical events wrote what we call the Bible. It clearly shows an active God connection working through one tribe of people (Israel) as He guides them in true faith and worship. This exact process continues through the New Testament. The one great thing about this, is it adds strength to the credibility of the scriptures' accuracy and validity, unlike all other "religion" that has a character pop up out of nowhere, (also known as a mushroom prophet) who makes their claim or new revelation, then 😮 disappear.
Muslims should be very concerned with the warning of the book of Revelation, where it says not to add to or take away from scripture, which is what their new revelation actually does.

Flawed reasoning regarding the "uneducated" term, and unjustified attack on the kid asking the question full of "you this and you that" insinuations. Fishermen back then did NOT have to write tax receipts. It was a simple tax structure and they paid three different taxes to the Romans:
    1. Tribute Tax: general taxes on income or produce.
    2. Fishing Licenses and Fees: This was based on certain areas, especially on larger bodies of water like the Sea of Galilee.
    3. Customs Duties: When selling their catch in the marketplace or transported fish across regions would be subject to customs duties or tolls.
There were no complicated tax systems back then, no million different tax codes and tax write offs as it is today. Also, no fancy equipment and costs to fish so why in the world would there be a need for writing tax receipts?! You simply get taxed on how much fish you sell and transportation tolls if certain roads were used and most of it happened on the spot especially for fishermen and farmers. No need to make it sound so GRAND and complicated.
Also, not to mention that the EARLIEST writings took place 30+ YEARS after the death of Jesus and the New Testament Books were written over the span of 50 YEARS or so (50s-100 AD)
Gospel of Mark (circa 65-70 AD): The Gospel of Mark is first Gospel written, probably around 65-70 AD, about 30 to 40 years after Jesus' death.
Gospels of Matthew and Luke (circa 70-90 AD): The Gospels of Matthew and Luke were likely written shortly after Mark, around 70-90 AD. These Gospels incorporate material from Mark and other sources, including a shared collection of sayings of Jesus (sometimes referred to as the "Q source").
Gospel of John (circa 90-100 AD)
Do I really need to mention how fragile and unreliable a human's memory is and how unreliably fragile it is given only a short period of time, now add an extra 50 to 100 years on top, SERIOUSLY? Also, I don't think that it's necessary to explain how stories morph when passed from one to the next ending up with a completely different story as a result. This is not bashing on anyone, rather logic and common sense people.
It is just mind boggling how something could be written 100 years after the fact in the form of "relayed stories" and is still considered to be authentic, factual, accurate and true without a shadow of a doubt and that belief be so intrenched into so many people to this day and has caused countless loss of life (ex crusades), common sense is out the window.

Well stated: The apostles, and the first witnesses all were baptized by the Holy Spirit, that is they knew Jesus Christ is the intelligible life force who remained in them all their lives. Today all over the world, Through various ways, Jesus is touching people’s awareness,He is loveable, accessible and Knowable.in fact, I believe He is Heaven on earth. Blessings to both of you.

We Muslims want to ask the Christians , if the Israelites especially the Jews accepted Jesus the son of Mariam to be their real Christ/ (Messiah), were they was going to accept him as God how you Christians accepted him ?
The answer according to the Torah and the Tanakh is absolutely not ! The Apostles who were living with Jesus Christ saw him face to face they were in conflict with the later Apostle Paul who used his own tactics and methods to convince the Greeks how to accept Jesus Christ these methods were not welcomed by the other Apostles who were living with Jesus Christ ! Because Jesus Christ was very clear to the Jews and to the all Israelites that he came only to the lost children of Israel as their true Messiah ! They didn't understand him and his teachings spread all over the world but later the Islamic teachings of Jesus Christ were totally corrupted and nowadays you who call yourselves Christians are following the corrupted teachings ! It is very clear what happened in 325 at the Nicean Council and what the fake Christian Emperor Constantine did !

Heresy until you perish! We will not give up a single word from our Bible in its Old and New Testament , you heretics who blaspheme the Holy Spirit (the Paraclete)! Just like The One and Only Lucifer while tempting Jesus in the wilderness, you take whatever you want from our bible to interpret it without its meaning! Perish alone with your Prophet !!!!!

King James had our Bible written from from the original tongues.
It abandoned the tradition of “biblical English” and, except for the retention of “thou” and “thy” in addressing God, freed itself of all archaisms.

Nevermind Peter and John's occupational background, the fact that they wrote letters to the churches, which are generally accepted as authentic, is proof enough that they were literate, not to mention their fondness for quoting directly from the TaNaKh, which one would imagine requires some ability to read.
The insistence that the greek word ἀγράμματοί (agrammatoi) used in Acts 4:13 indicates that these 2 apostles were "illiterate" is championed by Bart Ehrman.

Sam, great topic. God spoke to me one day in his word. I read in Luke where God was telling us the story of Lazarus. In the end He said, “I gave you the word of the prophets, Moses, etc.”. Yes it was through man but Gods word. Read it alone.

The irony of a god who had a mother (mother of god), brothers and sisters, a step dad, great ancestors (genealogy of David)! A god who came to earth, but did not know he was god - had to worship another god (even to the point worshipping till his blood looked like blood). The god who was tempted by his own creature (satan)! The god who was killed by his own creature! The god who didn't know that he had sent himself to the whole world, but kept using foul language on gentiles and samaritans. And that he only realised that he had sent himself to gentiles after he was resurrected! The god who becomes powerless when on earth, and has to relly on another god - in heaven to do miracles or answer his prayers! A god who will forget everything (as soon as he lives his abode (heaven) - Jesus on the hour!
    Etc
A fictitious god! Or a god who only exists in the mind of "people who are in denial"!

you know a lot, did you do your own research? do you think Jesus had no power? if your view is correct then why didn't Jesus accept Satan's offers? you couldn't be tempted to do wrong by your offspring? thank you!

      Read your bible boss.
Jesus himself said, "on my own, i cannot do any miracles. I rely on my father in heaven.
Then remember when he was hungry and came across a fig tree with no ripe figs. He cursed the tree. Who does that? He should have performed miracles, so that food could come from heaven, without cursing "non living things"!
Before going to the cross, the bible says that he prayed and prayed, asking the father not to let him be crucified. You Christians (your bible) say that his prayers were rejected, and he was still crucified. Come to think about it! A god who couldn't answer his own prayer. How can he answer yours? No wonder, many Christian pastors and priests are turning to satanism for miracles - or powers to do miracles! They know that if they just rely on Jesus, they will call and call, pray and pray till they sweat blood (the way their god did), but they will not get any prayers answered.

It may be errors in translation in the Bible but not corrupted , just as the translated version of the Qur’an differs from the Arabic version. John’s words in the Book of Revelation are clear: Revelation 22:18-19.
For I bear witness to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book , if anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book Repent, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the book of life, and from the holy city, and from the things that are written in This book !!!!!! NOW YOU CAN UNDERSTAND LIFE OF MOHAMMAD WHEN HE ADDED AND REMOVED FROM OUR BIBLE !!!!!!!!

2 Peter 2:20-21 "knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but the holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." I hear the Bible is just a book all the time. It only tells me their ignorance. Sometimes, even believers put limits on our boundless God. How do you think the soft spoken, mumbling, bumbling Moses was able to speak? God said, I will speak for you! Stop being scared or worrying about what to say! I say to you all, stop limiting God!

They weren't formally trained by rabbis, but experienced on-the-job-training with Paul and Peter who had on-the-job-training with Jesus. Luke was a physician who learned the Gospel from Paul who was taught by Jesus. Mark traveled with the apostle Paul and might have been a follower of Peter and helped spread Jesus' teachings. Mark might have seen and heard Jesus as well.
