Who said we never use tawa? Have you ever heard of Jakep, please find out a little bit about it. Also, I clearly stated in my video that "this dish is prepared directly on a fire, but for the convenience of city folks, I am making it on a tawa" . Moreover, I also stated that this is commonly prepared across NE, not just by Garos. You are wrong at so many levels my friend!
I am glad you know that much about Jakep .. well now since you know that much about it, you must also be knowing on what kind of vessel it is cooked right? You guessed it right a 'TAWA' now read your first comment again. Thank you.
I am not debating about origin of Jakep. My main point of contention is your comment about Achik dish never being prepared on a tawa. Jakep might be inspired from Pitha but Jakep is very much a Garo dish.
Kuns U - Pitha Jakep is part and parcel of the Achik people and not only in the border areas. As you said you get best jakep in Nishagram, i would only say Nishangram is in Assam and all people are refugees there you know.
To prepare dried fish wetepa.. we, A.chik use banana leaves after that we cover with charcoal it doesn't mean that we,A.chik can't able to use tawa pawa ...... etc....its depend own their wishes..... ancient great great granies they used charcoal because in that time there's no tawa.......

can i use pomfret or Rohu ??
you should heat the banana leaf over flame a bit, softens it up n makes wrapping easier !
Oh yes, I should have done it. We do that when we pack food in banana leaves. Thank you.
Pls recommend places in shillong to eat local cusine, local resturant. Your videos really good and made me hungry.
