By Tim Kennedy's logic, since he's no longer part of the government (solider), he should no longer be trusted with any firearm.

I remember Administrative results was a small channel until he was featured in a couple garand thumb videos he blew up really fast. Thats the power of a good helping hand.
Another thing to note is the big channels have a lot of success with gun noobies. After a while in the hobby you can see who shills for the sponsors and who not. I hardly watch any of the pioneer guys of youtube anymore.

I recorded a conversation with Tim Kennedy at the USCCA party during SHOT in 2023. I asked could I record him answering my concerns about him saying 18 year olds shouldn't be allowed to own AR15s. He said he supports the 2nd Amendment totally. I posted it on my channel. I look to see what activism work does he do that's pro 2nd Amendment? Being sponsored and paid by a firearm manufacturer isn't pro 2A advocacy on Tim's part. Veterans should be held to a higher standard when it comes to the Constitution because we swore to uphold the Constitution. We should be honest when it comes to reviewing life saving equipment. We can be honest without trashing the company.

Interesting FACT. In the late 1960's (1967 - 68 ?) there was a couple gun reviewers that did not like the individuals and or the reviews that were being published in the top gun magazines of the time. They decided to publish their own magazine aimed entirely at factual info. In fact the gun magazine's name was "GUN FACTS". They were factual but totally brutal in their evaluations and opinions of products. So much so that they pissed off every gun manufacturer and or gun product supplier. Within 6 months the mag folded because no one would supply guns or products for review and advertisers canceled their ads and demanded they remove their products from the magazine. While reviews should be factual they must also be fair otherwise you will be out of business before long.

    • @741podnammoc
      @741podnammoc 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

That's probably true considering human nature, but I wish I could have bought that magazine. Because I really want accurate reviews, that aren't beholden to any company's feelings. Agreed that they should be fair and have realistic expectations for whatever they're reviewing of course.

As a smaller channel, 12,400 subscribers, who has been plugging away a few years now, It was interesting on your perspectives. One of the things you didn't really touch on was how TH-cam is doing the hardsell, encouraging creators to do shorts, have paid memberships and host sponsors. I started my channel as a hobby and a labor of love. I had to really think hard a few years ago before I monetized. Ad revenue helps to buy ammo, but I don't ever see making a living off of this and don't appreciate the powers that be at TH-cam to be pushing creators to create alternative revenue streams.

1moa or better is honestly making me question John’s reviews.
You’re not getting sub moa 10 round groups consistently without a dedicated gun built for accuracy with a good scope, great ammo, and a good stable rest/bench.
Idk what gas guns hes shooting that cost sub 1500 and are ACTUALLY 1moa.
1 - 3rd group being sub moa is NOT indicative of the gun being sub moa.

I try to do a deep dive down various rabbit holes to research on an item before I purchase it. With the run on silencers it tough. There I get into confirmed bias as how do I avoid more noxious gas. Radian charging handle: Check. Oh, wait this guy did that and it didn’t completely fix the problem. Okay, bootleg BCG. Looks in stock. Ordered. Now, shows back ordered.
I contact the manufacturer I ordered from. The machines are being moved, it will be a month or so.
Well should I try to find a trilug for my B&T APC9 Pro and use that as a house PCC?
Long story short, it is always a process of adaption. Or, as the song goes, “You can’t always get what you want.. “

When Johnny told me that most people are watching after the bought the item it kind of made me take a step back. I find myself doing all the research before any purchase, and after I buy something and develop my own opinion of it. I come back to reviews to seem if anyone else is experiencing the same feelings. I would agree it's definitely a lot of work to perform fair tests on guns. Like you have to make multiple trips, film multiple days, compile and edit everything. As a newer creator expect to be in the red for a long time, of which I am still in the red and plan on being in it for a while. The people that end up compromising their integrity for the money early on are the ones that don't end up sticking around.
If I was going to only watch 1 reviewer...1911 Syndicate.

I've heard other youtubers claim that as well, about us watching videos to see if it's more us researching a future purchase, or getting our purchased Bias supported by insert youtuber here. I suppose you might bias watch for your first few purchases, but then wise up after you get over the idea that you couldn't possibly have bought a bad product.
But part of that is also, good/bad according to what metric? Because all of the channels are using different metrics, then yeah clearly different products will be good/bad accordingly. And for a lot of us normies, we're just trying to learn what the metrics are and at what level we sit at.

I think sponsored reviews will inherently thumb the scale to a degree no matter who, and thats not to throw shade. But at this point lots of review channels have grown to be entertainers, and their new job is to entertain. If i want the big picture i try to surf through smaller names along with the big names and compare notes to see how a new gun stacks up, but even that is futile sometimes because ill see 400 positive reviews across the board, buy the gun, then get flooded with hate posting about how bad it is after i spend the money.

In regards to magazines - the manufacturers are missing the boat....They should put two in the box, and then have a deal when the person goes online to register the gun for warranty, they can buy an extra magazine and they get a free t-shirt or hat (or both) with the company logo on it. - Lots of folks would jump on this, and the maker gets long-term advertising and very little cost.

I’m cool with some guns having a break in period. Like a precision gun getting more accurate once it’s leaded. Maybe a handgun that fits super tight having a few failures in the first 100-200.
More mags when they don’t take AR or Glock mags should be standard.
Irons on ARs I don’t want tbh. I’d rather save the money and get what I specifically wanted for the gun.

I'm going to be honest. There are a lot of gun tubers who believe that their opinion is worth more than the general public. We are all biased about certain things. The firearm industry has become increasingly less advancement and more about how much money is to be made. This is fine if there's innovation. We keep seeing the same old products, the same old platforms, the same old reviews. This industry has suppressed itself more than any outside force.

34:30 speaking of the way things are made, I don't like how hard it is to find good, quality made holsters for so many makes and models.
41:50 I do the electrical work for my BIL who owns a printing company. I've watched him grow his business and it's made me second-guess going into business for myself. It's not easy. You wouldn't know that unless you did it yourself or watched someone do it.

I would honestly much rather pay a little extra and send my slide to get mailed directly for the object specifically that I want and not use those damn plates, those are a failure point and I don't consider failure an option when it's a self-defense device!

I think the cost of middle men is a killer for a lot of products and companies. That's why PSA, though not flawless, has a great model, and provides much better products than their price "peers"

I can attest to watching gun reviews videos AFTER having bought the gun, basically, just looking to hear about what a good decision I made buying the gun.
It's more of a showcase than a review.
A perfect example is of the M1A. I wanna believe my Springfield I spent good money building out is a sub MOA awesome do it all badass rifle.
It isn't. Its like 4 MOA, has design flaws and is incredibly easy to shift zero. It's a bitter pill but at least i'm not ignorant of it and I appreciate the reviewers pushing that gun hard to bring it to my attention.
It's a spoonful of Robitussin. Bitter but necessary. It keeps me from living in an echochamber of delusion.

Goonzquad is a car channel with 2.6m subs and they still shoot their content with their phones. (Sorry about so many comments for one video, I'm old and I comment as I watch or I'll forget what I was going to say.🤣😂).

AKs are dog shit in the US...if I lived in the middle east yes 100% I'd proudly weild an AK47. I'd own multiple. In the US however I don't see the point of a sub par system and a sub par BC .30 cal round when .308 exists. Love this channel guys keep killing it!

Assuming the one you will discuss later sells insurance in our industry 😅
Understanding professionalism, and not wanting to call out. Too many crappy TH-camrs, would you guys be willing to just run down a list of channels you would currently endorse and you don't feel our shills? To be fair, some guys are great online, but if you know them in real life, you wouldn't be friends with them. I feel that way about the ASP guy, & I know him. Johnny, did you rep Nutrient Survival? Or was that 30 day test just for personal reasons?
