Hey Mike! The journey never ends for these race cars, it seems haha. If you happen to know any details about the engine (mods, fixes, etc) please let me know. Trying to fill in some gaps. Cheers!
THIS is what TH-cam is all about. I’m genuinely excited to see where this series goes. And it’s definitely inspiring me to get out there and do the things I’ve always wanted to do. Cheers!
While black gloves look cool, blue gloves let you see the dirt and other contaminates you get on them as well as the colour of any fluid thst gets on them, very useful when dealing with cars that like to leak cooolant and oil in equal amounts, love the series so far
I can't wait to see what you do next Ryan! You are an inspiration to so many people who would love to do exactly what you're doing. By doing it, you are showing so many that its possible if you put the effort and time in. I hope to volunteer at the rally events that occur in western canada and maybe get the chance to see you tearing up that gravel, mud and snow! I wish you the best of luck and keep up the great work!
my man cleaned the dirt out of a rally car, respect. Im so stoked to have found a new long term project. Can't wait to see how it goes. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
Seeing videos like this is what is making me start to fall in love with rally racing. I cant wait to follow along the experience and see how your journey turns out.
You're doing something similar to what I did. I bought a rally car and put an engine in it and then ran my first rally earlier this month. The Show-Me Rally in Potosi MO. Car 321
TH-cam algorithm for the win started with “Are Rally Racing Games Total BS?” And now we’re here I just binge watched everything when I got home from work and now I’m subscribed. Good luck with getting the car sorted and looking forward to the next episode 🤘
I am enjoying following your progress, been a Rally fan since I can remember helping my Dad with his rally cars in the 70's, did my time in Group B as a mechanic, built the Pikes Peak SAAB and did the WRC with Ford (sorry for the braggy flexing), anyway it's looking good, just please stop calling it Rally-Racing, it's Rallying, going Rallying and Rally Driver... ;-)
This is so refreshing to see. Great video! I just went through a very similar process haha. Bought the STI that crashed into a lake and went through a full rebuild 😅 I just did my first rally in it a few weeks ago and it ran flawlessly! There is light at the end of the tunnel!!
As long as that light isn’t a reflection off a lake, we should be all good 😅 I’ve been following your journey as well KJ! The car is looking great. That green is my favorite color.
Dude the past little bit I've been addicted to rally racing myself then this popped up on my yt page, gonna be following this journey looking forward to seeing where it goes! Best of luck to you!
It's funny how up my alley this series is. I've been a long time rally car fan, had an evo 4 from Japan, Evo x and 2 stis. All at different times of course. Now I have a 22 brz but I always had a dream of making one of those sti or evos I had into a rally car. That ship has sailed, but I got into sim racing recently and am loving it. I came from your mtb channel because I am really into biking as well, I also work in the film industry (camera department) and I know you came from the commercial world, it's crazy how much your interests align with mine haha. Anyways just wanted to say I'm stoked to follow along with this journey!
Nice work on the video! I didn't record any of the fun I had getting the FFR ready for my first rally, should show people more of the grassroots side of rally like this.

Loll I was going to make a joke about Max’s thumb, but you did it haha. You’re in good hands with them! Great video again!
That's awesome. The amount of reliable power VEX is able to get out of those Subie engines is pretty wild. Their rally car has crazy numbers, even with a turbo inlet restrictor!
Just found your videos after recently getting back into rally myself(just watching and sim racing). Really excited to watch your journey! Lets go Ryan! video content & quality is fantastic
I totally understand how you feel - I also decided to finally after some simracing to go racing for real and tomorrow I'm looking at a fwd small fiat converted to rally car. Great deal from a buddy from work, been left on the street for 3 years, gonna start it, test it a bit , fix it up during winter and i hope start competing. I have to attend 4 amateur events before I can have my licence and do some actually rallying so I just can't wait 😊 Subscribed!
I used to race circle track cars growing up. But just recently started racing rally across locally. I’ve always had a passion for stage rally, racing days. We are having a really good rookie season in Rallycross looking to finish the year off with two championships wins. But I’m heading to The Ridge Rally in California to help crew on a L2 car that we will be taking home after the rally. Excited to give stage rally a go! I have also been using Sim driving to practice between rally cross events. Love that you are documenting your success!
Whoa that's great! Ya RallyX is definitely the perfect way to get into the sport. I just did my first RallyX race a couple of weeks back and it was a blast. Video to come soon, of course haha.
Even starting from a road car, unless it's new from the factory floor, there's always going to be hidden "gems" to discover in the process. That's all part of the fun for us club level racers. 🙂
My team and I are in the very early planning stages of what you're accomplishing right now! We're going to be following you very closely, so keep up the good work and the great content!
Ryan I've been following you since we both lived in Edmonton! You moved to Canmore, and I moved to Calgary. I can't wait to come see you race somewhere in 2025! I believe in you buddy!
Lets go, loving the videos! I recently watched your video on how to get sponsors on your MTB channel and it's crazy what you've managed to do and keep doing with all your channels! Really it's something I admire and hope to do to some level as we share many of the same interests (cars, photography and videography, MTB - although I haven't quite gotten into that yet)) But it's great to see someone doing so much, makes me feel a little less overwhelmed when I think about my goals and interests while keeping a full-time job Thank you, keep going
Ryan, I honestly think you're really underrated especially for the quality content you give us, and I hope to follow your journey to the end. Keep it up!
This is fkn sweet that’s my dream too slowly working towards🙏 This will be awesome to see no content like this on TH-cam at all. Rally is just so lowkey in a way
5:14 you can order nitrile gloves for pretty darn cheap online! also, i love this series! one of my favorites on the whole platform, it's very down to earth yet also dope as hell
My man hell yeah im so thrilled that they got you as a driver ill watch every single race keep doing what you are doing ur litteraly living my dream hahaha ❤❤🎉
Great series, very inspiring as I too want to become a rally driver in the near future. If I may ask, what’s the process of gaining support from a handful of companies for your journey? I only have one year of rallycross experience on my belt but I’d like to pitch to some sponsors myself.
Thanks! And that sounds awesome. I recently put out a video on my main channel that fully covers my process of working with sponsors, so feel free to check that out, if you like: th-cam.com/video/vBsAIwjQE3c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kGeqZRIB4IWyp6FK
I've only recently gotten interested in rally racing and sim racing in general, and as a fellow Canadian, I'm really excited to see where this series goes
Need to start getting practice with setting up your own notes. My dad and I do that with the video games. I specifically didn't play DR2.0 so I wouldn't know the stages. Drive them at recce speeds having your codriver, or potential codriver, writing out the booklet. Then go back and run them. You'll get a sense of what you like and also what you and your codriver can handle. We dont use +/- for turn calls and distances under 60m are 'then' for into or & for minor straights. It'll help your codriver get a feel for the speed you want calls and what your limit is for being ahead. My dad had no intention of ever co-driving, and with one day sessions on the weekends for a couple of months we hit the ground running
Ok the other day i discovered this channel and in the first video i commented i was going to watch the whole series, i made it to the last video, but i had a huge question, its a new channel with only few vids but you had sponsors and a professional grade quality so i was very confused, right now i got recommended a video from “the loam ranger”, i opened it and i was like OOOOOHHHH OKAY I SEE 😂😂 cool content on both channel, hope one day we meet on a rally grid
the JDM first gens all had a 20g with a AWIC but someone musta stole a 22t outta a first gen legacy. good choice as the 22t is closed deck and you can make some good numbers with it. Ive got a 22t/20k hybrid that makes some good numbers! pretty much a 22b engine replica.
@@teagancombest6049I’m just saying how, as someone from a country where we don’t use extra words to describe the subject, this sounds odd to my ears. Don’t be so defensive. Also, take a moment to study the etymology of the word rallying, it’s really interesting.
Be aware the 22t doesn’t like anything but oem metal MAF sensors. Not sure what engine management you’re running, but if it’s got the 22t ecu it won’t be happy.
As far as we know, it’s a stock EJ22T ECU (haven’t physically cracked it open yet). And while the new MAF is metal, it’s not OEM… I’m guessing OEM versions aren’t even available anymore!
I got bad news for you dude... The car will never be clean again. It's a rally car lol But it DOES feel good to give it an initial cleaning. Also really helps learn the car
It's insane to me how this dude doesn't have more subscribers. Super high quality videos and an interesting story. Love it.
Thanks Brady 🍻
Dw he will soon
It will blow up. It's too good not to. Loving this content.
Because people can see that hes just a filmaker & this is all a show.

@@RyansRoadToRally Sorry Ryan, don't know much about the engine. All those mods were done before we bought the car.

As an Englishman it sounds so weird hearing you call it rally racing and not rallying as we (correctly) call it.
In North America when most people hear the word rally they think political rally, so you have to add racing. The sport is not well known here at all.
Rallying has like 8 different meanings, come on. Rally race is more specific.
