Ricky Sebastian is truly one of the greats to come out of New Orleans. I lived and played there in the 1990's and crossed paths with Ricky a few times and found him to be, in spite of his immense talent, a humble, friendly and supportive musician/human being :) While he is capable of playing complex, demanding styles of music a memory forever etched in my mind was when I witnessed him playing one night at the Famous Door on Bourbon Street with the Dream Band. They played a variety of rock, R&B, pop hits. Some thirty years later I am still inspired by what I heard and saw that night. Playing more "simply" in the service of the music his groove was so staggeringly deep! I was just in awe of his power and musicality. Glad you are still out "there" Ricky doin' wut ya do!

Awesome post!! Is that a Yamaha 14 x 6.5” steel snare?? Sounds great!!
Hey Will. That's actually a Ludwig snare drum and I really like it for many styles of music.
The green inked Pro-Mark sticks seem very familiar... a signature model by chance?
Those would be Pro Mark, "The Natrual". Been using them for 20+ years.
Maybe you can play rosanna shuffle that way?
Sweet 🍰

Inspired by Steve a long time ago.

LOL - good observation. Totally Gadd inspired.
I skipped every few minutes to watch his high tom slowly turn down into his snare.
