I have a VR1 with studs and an Assult with a ice ripper track. There is no comparison between the 2! Studs are the way to go.

No doubt there are a lot of advantages to traditional studs. I typically always ride in loose snow and I’m only looking for a little traction to get across ice roads or when I spin through the soft layer on top of a river. For me these lug studs are good enough, cheaper and low maintenance

What gearing and clutching did you end up with, with this track and studs? Could you of put regular studs in this track or is it a one ply and not recommended? Just wondering. Stock gearing I think is 23/51 on these with the 2” which is insanely low gearing (crazy bottom end) 85mph ish on packed trail. I think I seen 90 on gps with some rev out. This is all
On my 2023. I left it all stock the whole year as far as that stuff. Ordered a 2024 and want to try real studs or these style and want to know what gearing and clutching to use so I can swap all that at the same time. Thanks for any info. Keep up the cool info videos. More riding videos would be awesome with this sled

This track will accept “real” studs. After extensive conversation with people that have a lot more experience with studs than me, I determined the screw ins were the better choice for me.
I have a separate video on the clutching that may help

    Hi Andrew,
Curious which seat bag you have on there?
    Regards

It’s the Ski-Doo bag that works with the Backcountry seat. I had to deform the corners and add a spacer to the Linq bracket to make it fit. I didn’t really like it and have removed it.

Hey Andrew, thank for the nice video. I've done the exact same setup on my Xterrain and I find the track grip so much it's hard to turn compare to the stock 2'' track. I've you tried before and after the stud by any chance? I'm trying to see if the studs are the cause...

I have rode the sled around 800km with the 1.75” Hurricane before the studs. I can’t say there is any noticeable difference in turning with the studs except the back end doesn’t want to pass the front on slippery surfaces. I never rode it with the 2” so I can’t compare that… I did add Qualipieces dual carbides to the stock skis. That made it handle better. It pushes a little less and sticks on to a side slope like next to a river significantly better. I hope that helps you a little

@@AndrewMilleyPerformance Yes Thank you. I do run the Qualipieces Dual as well. Looking closer at you video, I think I didn't screw the studs in enough. I'll try putting them to specs like your.

@@yannissklavenitis5182 there is a good picture on the package of how far they should screw in.
