"Wide Right,” a short story by donkeykongenjoyer January 21st, 2024 A cold game of Football was played between the Chiefs of Kansas City and the Bills of Buffalo. With time running out, the Bills charge down the field, down by 3, with nothing in their path. Nothing will stop them. They have a chance to tie the game and send it to overtime. They have a chance to conquer their demons. They have a chance to beat the Chiefs. Tyler Bass walks onto the field, the whole world watching, remembering that fateful night in 1991, flashing back to it as they hope and pray. Bass runs up and kicks the ball… And in 5 seconds the Bills world is stunned. And then sad for eternity. For Tyler Bass missed…… wide right.

What makes that fake punt worse is having to note that Chiefs had 10 men on the field that play and the Bills STILL couldn't convert. I understand why they went for it, but damn that makes it worse in hindsight knowing the results.
Bass didn't choke. If you watch the orange flags at the top of the uprights you can clearly see the wind gusts were blowing the flags to the right in the same direction as where the ball started drifting to. Pretty unlucky to get such an untimely wind gust right as the ball was heading towards the uprights.
It’s quite common for wind to impact kicks. That’s why good kickers account for it and aim more left. 44 yards with wind is still a make-able kick for a professional kicker.

The Chiefs Bills playoff rivalry is like the NFL’s Bruins Leafs playoffs rivalry. Once side wins every single time, and unfortunately for the Bills and Leafs, it will always be the Chiefs and Bruins that come on top even after how hard both sides fought.
I 100% agree
Thats actually a really good statement
The one time toronto didn't have to play Boston they finally made it to the 2nd round
So if the bills don't play the chiefs, superbowl time?
@@thatguyukno41 not true. We’ve also lost to Columbus and Montreal. The only team we’ve beat is Tampa.
@@a18yearoldonyoutubeluigi
Also Washington.
@@thatguyukno41 Nope, Likely Cinci will be waiting to kick them back down to reality if KC doesn't, this was just a year of bad luck for Burrow being injured.
The amount of misery for other fanbases has made this Falcon fan feel not so alone
NFL more than any other league has the most miserable franchises.
this commanders fan feels the same. perhaps misery can be conquered someday, but only for some of us 😔
10:31 holy crap that line is hard 💀💀💀
I can't tell you how many times I love the editor's choice of using MGS music in your videos. I'm truly witnessing the Golden Age of TH-cam Sports Channels
We making it out of the Buffalo Inebriation meter with this one!
*We binge drinking everyday with this one!*
Ironic the 1993 oilers music is in the end. Both them and the bills now, had their super bowl hopes crushed by kansas city in the divisional round. And it was a few days from being exactly 3 decades apart.
"Wide Right,” a short story by donkeykongenjoyer
January 21st, 2024
A cold game of Football was played between the Chiefs of Kansas City and the Bills of Buffalo.
Bass runs up and kicks the ball…
And in 5 seconds the Bills world is stunned. And then sad for eternity.
For Tyler Bass missed…… wide right.
5:41 There’s nothing like having a brother that retires from another team just to be your personal shirtless superfan risking grade 3 hypothermia.
Even Vin Diesel would have to say that is family.
I don't even think that was Bass yips. The wind just took that ball and said "no."
"Buffalo is the Yankees to the Kansas City Astros."
As a lifelong Astros fan, this line is the best thing that could ever be put into this video. Well done.
Funnily enough what the bills and josh allen are going through is the exact same thing that the 90s bills did to Miami and Marino...
Is just a feature of being open-air next to a great lake. Is truly unfortunate
It’s quite common for wind to impact kicks. That’s why good kickers account for it and aim more left. 44 yards with wind is still a make-able kick for a professional kicker.
@@adammeyer347128 yeah and had he aimed left and the wind doesn't gust at the right time when the ball is heading towards the upright then you'd be saying the same "a good kicker would've adjusted" shit lol. The bottom line is the weather can and will shit on any kicker no matter how good they are
@@adammeyer347128 if anyone should be shit on its Allen for not taking the wide open pass underneath to make it a much closer kick (and the first down) instead of going for the home run and throwing it into the dirt.
UTree thirsting over Jason Kelce was not on my bingo card 😂
And I don't blame him in the slightest
STARTING THE MORNING WITH THE GREATEST GAME!!! WE EATING WELL!
I'm a few weeks late here, but I have to say that this is the Bills in the Josh Allen area: getting the tough opponents on the ropes but unable to finish the job. It's so damn frustrating.
“Next year will be the Bills year”
- Jim Kelly
I remember “that” kick. My family saw it live and I’m like “It happened again!” My parents (both of whom are not major fans) asked me what I was talking about and I had to explain Wide Right to them at the commercials.
We need a Buffalo Bills legacy of failure, ASAP!
The only thing is the bills have an AFL championship in the pre Super Bowl era
that’s what i’ve been saying! if their nfc brethren in the vikings have one, surely the bills should as well. their legacy is arguably more painful, though…
Kinda did on the Pegulas and City of Buffalo years ago but an updated one is needed!
Love the Streets of Rage music!!!!! Fitting for how the game played out.
This was probably the most vulnerable the Chiefs have been as a team for a very long time and the Bills still couldn't help to stumble over their own feet and lose anyway.
To be perfectly honest, I don’t think either one of these teams are gonna win vs the Ravens
@@ChiefBlue4298 People have been talking up the Ravens like they've actually done anything. The Chiefs got 2 rings in the time it took the Ravens to get out of the divisional round and live up to their billing. Not only that, the Chiefs are 3-1 against them with Patrick Mahomes starting. I'm sure it'll be a good game, but putting the Ravens on the podium before it starts is a recipe for an L.
and the half life music in the end, a masterpiece again tree we don't deserve you
I love the streets of rage music. Good on ya for that.💯
What a game
You know what...being the villain is kinda fun.
I like this.
Until you are vanquished
Whenever UrinatingTree posts its gonna be a good day
All this game taught me is that there is little to no justice in this world.
It’s a game 😂
Jason kelce is awesome
Ohhhhh shit!!! Hes covering the greatest game, lets do this!
such a great recap
Ahhhh, the two words that's gonna haunt Buffalo for years: "Wide Right" 🤣😂
This team needs a Legacy of Failure video. Too many heartbreaks, man.
The football gods show no mercy, all hail the everlasting tree. Amen
5:43 yeah we all feel that one dude
The Bills really are the NFL equivalent of the Blues.
Except the Blues have actually won a championship.
damn good video, Tree. love to see the production value slowly and steadily rise. keep it up!
man i wanted them to win too and i’m a pats fan….
seeing that kick go wide right was so fkin poetic it just solidified my notion that this is a cursed team
Happy to see this!
That bills legacy of failure video is going to be hilariously epic
5:34 ah yes. The man, the myth, the legend....
