    "Rocky", Freddy's brother, lived in our attic and destroyed lots of our things. We fixed the chimney grate when he was out one day and he moved on!! Great video as usual!!

    I envision a pergola over your summer stage, eventually being framed from the ground up, with an evergreen climbing ivy, some all weather LED curtain lights, a few concrete bench tops perched onto giant concrete orbs, placed on 3 sides, bird houses, and feeders scattered throughout the trees to be observed from there. You could call it "perches peak" hehe. A gentle, undisturbed, low maintenance space that can be momentarily enjoyed every season for a quick, 'i need nature' moments. Im in southern west central Indiana so i know all about how the cold, traps us indoors and away from all the roots we are grounded in!! Our souls scream for those connections to keep us going! ❤

    The place looks amazing. I would consider doing a sunken area where the fire pit is. You could always setup a space in the backyard for critters like Freddy since you made him homeless :(

    I just love that little Snowy dog Fargo but wow the garden house is gorgeous. You just have to love that retro furniture. I have a yellow set from the late 60's I think I'm going to paint it green. I grew a castor bean years ago in the high Mohave desert it was magnificent. I saved the pods and tried to grow unsuccessfully in another location. The garden tour was fabulous as usual your whimsical artistic imagination is brilliant. Keep em' coming.... I can't imagine my morning coffee without you.

    I love your outdoor spaces. You definitely have a knack for decorating and designing. I also love the way you reuse, repurpose and make do with what you have. It looks as though you spend lots of money but in reality you you are spending very little. All the little separate spaces are so cool. It seems like they are all in different yards but they are all one place. You do a really good job. Love it. I thoroughly enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing!

    Love ur space and creativity! Got to say ,As an animal lover I think all creatures are super cute, but raccoons can be quite destructive & aggressive. I had one that was trying to make its way into my attic as well, but I did a little research and found out that they don’t like noise or light… so when I would hear him, I would run outside get my big super Duper flashlight and just aim it right at him ,And he took off. Did that a couple of times and never saw him again .My suggestion to this problem is if your raccoon returns maybe put some kind of a sensor spotlight in that area to scare him/ her away. Good luck to you and again your place is looking beautiful. I Enjoy your channel.❤️

    • @CADEmade
      @CADEmade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow that’s an enlightening suggestion I really appreciate that! I will out that in my tool kit for those little critters. I’m afraid of seeing the destruction in the attic 😐. I’m hoping it’s not too bad. Thank you for watching!

    Your gardens are so pretty, exactly what I would like in my yard. I'm so jealous of all your rocks. I live in Florida, you have to buy them here & they're expensive, sold by the pound. When I lived in Michigan, you could just go down to the rivers or woods and get them, free.
    I so.....could take a quality nap in the garden house. Great idea to enclose the windows, works perfectly.
    It was nice to know more of the history of the property and you have access to the neighbors yard & gardens.
    The outdoor shower, 1st I knew about it. Why is there no video of how it was designed and built?
    It will be coming shortly?
    This was such a nice video, very calming to watch.

    • @CADEmade
      @CADEmade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! When I made it I didn’t feel like filming because it felt a little cheep… but once it was in I really think it’s a smart easily adjustable solution. I’m going to do a longer explanation in the future when I work on the rock walls surrounding it. Thank you!

Close to the mountains and lots of critters, I am a huge animal lover and ❤ that you respect their space. More than likely, "Freddy" is actually a "Fredricka" looking for a nice warm place to give birth. If that's so, you not only kept her from using this space for this litter, but thwarted her from coming back again next year. I'm surprised your goldfish are still around...our neighbor's koi got eaten by the raccoons in our area. Your outdoor spaces are fantastic.

    I had an issue with opossums and armadillos and I invested in a trap. I was fortunate to find a two trap deal for only $15. I set it up with no food to lure them in. The next day I trapped an opossum. A few days later, an armadillo - twice! The hard part: relocating them. I'm a girl so... :). I paid a homeless man that did work for me on occasion and he relocated them. Try it! They're great diggers, can ruing your foundation.

    Wanted to make a separate comment about your critters. Love love love them. Quite a few at my cottage in da hood.
    I unknowingly allowed them entry into my home after my little pup died. I didn't slide down the solid closure over our small doggie door and one day found poop in the washing machine (I keep the lid up so it airs dry).
    Didn't realize the source until a few days later walked down the hall to find a baby possum traipsing across the dryer onto the washing machine. Hard to tell who was more frightened - him or me.
    He cooperated nicely as I gently herded him out the door with a broom and have since taped shut the dog door hatch since my newly acquired cat figured out how to push it up and escape 😆

    You can make a possum house in a raccoon house. You should encourage them living around the house because they eat mice and rats. Also, I noticed on one of your films a bat went by consider a bat house too.

    ** Darling.. Oh I could listen to your voice all day.. so calming and beautiful. oxox.. wanted to share 'old fashioned screen-storm window' styles. 'Back in the day' they used wooden frames.. beautiful wooden frames.. and changed them out each season.. One had screen on it and one had 'glass' (before plastics were invented). they would hang on the windows and door at the top and a little wingnut on each side, would hold it in place (or can be attached with screws). These wooden frames can be a plain as you like or ornate as you like. Use a little weather stripping (not caulk, just stripping). with the age of your home they would fit is absolutely perfectly and look so amazing. they sell the doors at 'big box hardware stores' but they are pricey but you can look them up and get the idea. I just put one on my front storm door. it changed the look immediately and I can't stop looking at it. bc it's a storm door, I attached it permanently and just remove the existing window for the summer and will replace it for the winter.. I can't tell you how beautiful my front door looks from the street. I almost cry as it is so perfect and I love it. Oh, an example would be your ornate doors that you have on the outdoor garden shed. imagine them as if they were the size of a window in your home, and you added loops ontop and hung them on the outside of the window to make it a screen for the window. right on your house.. how fancy and beautiful would that be. and would have the same with the poly on it to swap out for the winter.. but I am thinking for the garden shed and maybe less ornate as they garden shed doors claim that right of passage in the beautiful fancy arena.. But I hope it gives you and idea of how to make the windows changeable for the seasons in a beautiful way. I love your garden shed.. I could see myself chilling in there and loving it. :))

      Those are great ideas! We actually have many of the old changeable screens from the original basement windows. I love the idea of a more permanent seasonal solution. Thank you for the lovely feedback and ideas they’re totally on the same page. It would look like perfect. Really appreciate it!

    I wasn't sure if I was going to watch the whole video. YT offered this to me since I watch some gardening videos, and I'm so damn glad they did.
    What kept me engaged was seeing you rip out all the vines. I hate losing profuse, verdant vining plants and I couldn't imagine why you were doing it. Clematis doesn't grown in my steamy hot zone, so I didn't know it would come back. I had to keep watching to see if you'd explain why you did it. LOL - cliff hanger. I'm so glad I did.
    I subscribed, and am now going to watch the concrete sphere video because I want some of those in the worst way. All my bowling balls have cracked and need a replacement. I hope you're using quik-crete cuz that's all I feel confident messing with.

      I’m so happy you enjoyed the video! I appreciate you watching the whole video. I’ve also tried concrete on the bowling balls but it was a diy fail. I like the blown glass seeing balls for the garden, but have had them shatter. The concrete spheres have all stood the test of time and is a fun project. I recommend the larger sizes as they are more impactful and sometimes the small
      Ones just look like stones. Enjoy the project!

      I still have a few glazing globes. I place them in large planters, now, rather than on stands that critters can knock over. And since I watched the video, I've made two concrete balls. thank you so much

    You’re going to need a bigger pond, those goldfish are going to get bigger, so consider putting in a water lily pond somewhere.

    Hi Cade. I love castor bean plants but they are deadly for dogs. If your dog eats any part of the plant including the beans he may die.I had one in my yard and my friend took several beans inside to save and plant later. Her dog ate a tiny bit and spent over a week at the emergency vet. It was a miracle she survived since the vet said there was no known cure. I ripped out the plant immediately. Now I check to see if a plant is toxic before I put it in the areas my dogs go in.

      That’s a great suggestion! Thank you. Luckily mr Fargo 🐕 like treats and no plants 😉. A lot of plants seems to be poisonous I’ve learned.

      It’s honestly just the algae and moss growing which makes the darker areas. More so than fade, they’ll just get more adapted to the darkened cement over time. So glad you like them, I’ve done it for friends as well and they love it too! It’s really nice for large patio areas that need a little Interest. Thank you much for the thoughtful comments! Have a great one.

    ** Sounds crazy, but I had the same problem with little fury friends and when I got my dog, everyday he went all around the yard and 'marked' his presence and what that does is 'claim' the space.. I didn't know that is what he was doing at the time, but I noticed the fury friends stopped coming in our yard. Like literally nothing came in our yard. I found out later it was because he was marking his territory.. it's an animal communication thing and it's real.. so if anyone of your friends have a male dog they can bring over, he can start marking it. or as in the movie 'Dancing with Wolves' (Kevin Costner) He had a wild wolf coming into his camp and finally he 'marked all around his camp and it kept the wolf outside the line.. Every day the wolf would still come but respected the area Kevin Costner 'marked' or 'claimed'. He didn't cross that line.. So there is that for what it is worth. Find a way to claim your space.. It's natural and won't kill any little animals.
