    Thank god we've finally reached the point where everyone hates pops and bangs. Not shedding a single tear seeing it go the way of the dodo.
    I absolutely despise people that do it and then drive into a pedestrian area.

      I've got a BBR MX5 turbo and that occassionally pops or make a large bang but its completely random and only happens occassionally when driven speedily, it probably runs a bit rich to protect the turbo'd engine. The only place it always happened everytime was braking into Druids, that straight and corner combo found the secret !
      These "designer" pops and bangs are another story, blame the people wanting pops and crackles at walking pace to show they have spent money to blame ...

      Got mine tuned after mods and got some pops and bangs on high rpm that came natural without tuning for em ... favorite thing to do during late-night drives is let some loose, will think of u next time I'm out n about 😆

    Pops just scream "i'm a dickhead". I get embarrassed for someone else driving cars with that, let alone driving it myself.

      My stock M340i (US version, '20 MY) makes pops in sport/sport+, even some in comfort mode. To be fair, they sound quite a bit more random than that, only for around 2 seconds, and mostly in certain RPM ranges only. I sometimes don't mind them, but after longer drives in sport+ they do get annoying.
      Either way, I definitely love the braps between shifts.

    I don't know why these cars are kind of underrated, even here in the comments I saw some people laughing about it, yes the pops are absolutely too much, they are ghastly, but the car itself is really impressive, so yeah I love it, and Martjin also ads to the drama with his aggressive and rough expressions.

      Because it's just way too expensive for what it is. For me, even too overrated. It's on every corner and costs as much as larger cars. The engine is not really legendary, just that it is so small and light makes it sporty and good. If it were as big as a Punto, it wouldn't be as good again. But in this size you don't get much car either. If the price was 20-30% less, I would have seen a good overall concept.

      Had 2 595 competizione. It’s freakin awesome cars. Huge smile factor. People either get it or they don’t. I daily an E63s AMG wagon nowadays but I really miss that little terrier. So much fun!!

    Pops and bangs are a fine line to tread on IMO. On one hand I absolutely LOVE them, but on the other it's super annoying. For example: I drive a Mini with an N18 engine. They pop and bang from the factory. You don't get it all the time and it never quite sounds the same. While you can provice it, it's always a little bit of a surprise what you get. It basically sounds like it's not intentional. This Abart here just sounds so fake. It's *super* annoying and *way* too long...

    I've got an abarth 595 turismo myself. I did have the Bombardone 2.0 exhaust but actually found it too loud. Maybe I'm just getting old haha. Instead I've decided to just get an induction kit and leave it at that. It's got 160hp but it's more than enough for my dad to day stuff. Only thing I'm really missing is cruise control. Definitely the best car I've owned and I had a 640d which is saying a lot.

    Love to see smaller cars, I have a Corsa VXR or OPC in rest of Europe, and I love the thing it runs 240WHP and 300Nm just on injectors and HKS intake (injectors for saftey standard ones are known for causing pistons to melt) it's loads of fun and custom cat back with a silencer and it gets past Golf GTI's ect. but only when it needs to. This thing seems to pull slower then mine 100-200 with claimed 270HP and sounds trashy with the overun pops, but looks fun.

      @@whitegptjet was gonna say I do 100-200 in 11.4 sec (on low boost) theres no way this runs several seconds slower when it weighs the same as mine with same power at the engine. Should be extremely close to my time.

      i'd say it's actually in the very low 230hp to the crank. i've seen racetrack ready 450hp abarths doing 6/5 sec 100-200, there's no way this thing has 270hp and doing almost 17's. plus this abarth should be in the 980kg/1t range, slightly lighter then a corsa opc.

    Just had mine sorted to TD04 turbo swapped 252bhp at 1.6bar boost / 24psi and it's violent. It really is an experience and really shocks bigger cars

    I bought a 180hp with the “convertible” top for my wife two years ago.
    Shame, but ahe hated the harsh ride so now she’s back to a regular 500S with 105hp.
    I loved to take the car out on a nice summer evening, it’s such a unique car!

    (EDIT: did some power to weight in the comments under this post) If it is still the standard Garrett GT1446 you get about 220/225 hp at max. With a modified one, you go to 240. After that the turbo can't deliver more boost and you need a bigger one. That is how it feels to me pulling trough that gears not as 270hp. The 135hp engine has an IHI turbo. Normally the VL 37 or VL 38 that is smaller.. so yeah this engine has a bigger turbo. Second why I don't think that this has 270hp is the Hyundai I30N Fastback in the list. 275hp and slightly quicker. But.. about 250kg heavier! So a time that is comparable to this Abarth does mean one thing... It has less horsies under the hood!!!
    There are TD04 kits availble for more hp. A 260 kit and even a 300hp kit. And if you want to go nuts... there are builds that go over 400hp for this engine.
    The engines itself are pretty strong up to that 300hp. After that you need to do the internals. H&S Corse had a Giulietta with this engine and on 100 octane it did 319hp. On normal 98 fuel and a more daily use tune, just under 300. SwapTeam goes even for a Borg and Warner Twin Scroll turbo. That thing is really mad!
    And let alone that people swap these engines in a Panda 100HP with even 100/150 less weight...

      By the look of it is not the gt1446, it looks like GMC turbo kit. But this car has Max max 200hp.

      @@mihaialexns that should be a disaster.. As the GT1446 that comes standard on this engine can deliver way more.
      If I do power to weight ratios.. it indeed comes to around 200hp if you compare it to the I30N. Maybe even less as it is slower than the Hyundai.
      Definately not 270HP!!!

      It could be the 4c or giulietta qv turbo that is still a Garret, i think it’s slower than other 270hp cars because of aero

      @@TheVeenmeister It definitely is a disaster :))) maybe on this video car was running stock map. I don't know if this is possible because of that power car should have bigger injectors who cannot run stock tune but again... something is bad there. Even if the car will run on wastegate boost on that turbo should be able to be very fast.
      Here is some specs from a setup made for a friend:
      - Abarth 500 - 270hp/380nm - > 10.3 sec 100-200 dragy stock internals TDO4-19t - 390cc injectors, airtec, 2.5inch exhaust stock ECU . With the same setup on 300hp and higher boost we did 9.41 sec
      Another setup on Fiat Grande Punto T-jet :
      - Setup was TD04H-19T 1.5Bar, 150/155HP Cams, 70mm exhaust, tubular manifold, FMIC & open intake, 390CC injectors & 3Bar sensors. Power output on the dyno was 276HP / 330NM - 100-200 dragy 11.27 sec
      16 sec vs 10 sec is A HUGE difference. With 270hp on abarth 500 you will fight with traction on 2nd and 3rd gear without an LSD...

      Turbo looks huge though? I have a TJET and seen dozens of upgraded turboes from VL38 to gtx2860 gen 2 . This looks like a GBC 300. Probably running low boost? or maybe no boost at all. But gotta say this is the worst TJET/Multiair build i have ever seen.

    Koni, Brembo and such come standard with the car. It looks like a facelifted series 3, the grill looks "used" because they cut out all the plastic mesh to give the intercooler more airflow.

    She have some cons, like the eight of seats and mass center, but its amazing beautiful toy, and the engine is pretty special. I love it. The best engine is the T-jet instead of multiair that have a less tuning potential

      In Greece there are 400-500 hp Multiairs aswell as TJETs. Tuning potential is about the same ,only problem is the Multiair unit.

      @@lucaalux My tuning shop (which is one of the best in EU) said that internally they are the same. Same block same piston/rods etc. The only difference is the head. Which again you can swap to TJET one easily.

    Pops and bangs are only cool if it's from pure performance, not when it's programmed in the ECU. I guess these Abarth's are fun to drive though.

    I can't stand those pop tunes either. As for the seats I used to have one of these and I found the seat position at its lowest setting wasn't too bad. At its highest setting you literally felt like you were sitting in a lifeguard chair

    God help anyone that hits one of these car. The best forward is to give the car 1000hp. Get a dummy to drive it off the side of a mountain and see what the quarter mile time is before it takes off. Good power to weight ratio!

      200 hp with a good tuner can make almost the same time as this fake 270 hp but a stage 2 is like 220-230 hp with the garret turbo versions. But this is an older abarth so not a new model maybe thats way its not so fast as an good tuned abarth with less power but i think this is not even close to 270 or just a bad tuner

    God the turbo spool and flutter sounds awesome but after once you back off the throttle..... god that's awful. I can't see why people tune their cars to pop like that. I think a little bit of burble right after you back off the throttle is fine, but the constant banging and popping is just stupid.

      Pops and bangs are okay when you can disable them like on hyundai cars for instance. But permanent pops and bangs gets annoying super fast.

    My Polo GTI sounds boring due to the OPF but I would prefer my little GTI any day. Because I just don't need that noise pollution 99% of the time. And I don't want my neighbours to hate me.

    @6:50 all personal preference. I think thats pretty cool. Anything with pops and bangs in my opinion.

      I like the occasional real bang as well but you can't modulate this thing. You let off the throttle and you instantly look like a 16 year old everywhere you go. That's the problem. Or at least have an optional mode with a button like an exhaust flap.

      Natural pops and bangs is where its at.
      My car on decel pops from 1 to 4 times and it stops. For me that's enough.
      And when the music volume is up above 15 I don't even hear the pops.

    I agree. Pops and bangs are poo.
    This thing isn’t that quick though, considering how light it is.
    I had an Ibiza Cupra mapped to around 230-240bhp which was quicker than this.

    2 separate ECU's in an Italian hot hatch with an extra 140 hp for maximum peace of mind and reliability. My "what could go wrong?" meter is flashing red! Fun car though ha ha.

    There is no way that car has 270hp. 270hp on Fiat Grande Punto T-Jet runs arround 10-11 sec 100-200 on dragy.
    It runs like a standard 180hp Abarth 500.
    I see the GMC turbo kit but this car has max 200hp - 210hp

      It looks like GMC 250 or 300. Probably running low boost i would say and i don't know why the hell they went for an ECU.

    The Fiat 500 is the only car in my life that scares me at interstate speeds. The short wheelbase makes so twitchy above 70mph. I don't think the backfire tune makes the car any better, just annoying.

    Oh, and about the seating position. Just go ask someone who owns an abarth for more than a few month and they will tell you 90% that the position is ok if not even "very nice". You get used to it and learn to love it. Only all the journalists tell you "its too high". Yeah, because if your ass is not touching gravel, you ain't in a sportcar,mate?
    Go testdrive one or two.

    Weird built. There is no reason to put another Ecu in the car. I got one myself. Td04 turbo with gmc manifold and lots of supporting mods. Around 280 hp just on the original ECU.

    The problem with the seats is also on my Fiat Panda 100HP from 2006. It is basically the same, but the cars are also very much the same :)

    that thing hasnt got 270hp...230 at the most..the haltech totaly not needed..the dash is like a christmas tree with all the faults...bring it to h&s with the original ecu and see what comes out of it
