It entailed four Allied assaults against the Winter Line (a series of German and Italian military fortifications) in Italy during WWII. One of the most famous Polish soldiers took part in the Battle of Monte Cassino, Corporal Wojtek, who carried artillery ammunition and it is worth mentioning that he was a bear.
My great-grandfather fought in the Battle of Monte Casino with the forces of General Anders (he was in of the artillery logistics unit, i suspect that he might've worked alongside Wojtek the Bear). Previously he travelled with Polish forces all around Europe during the war looking for ways to get enrolled. He fought facists even before the war started - in the Spanish Civil War against gen. Franco. He managed to survive the war with s rank of corporal and recieved a diplomma with thanks signed by General himself - We now consider it a family heirloom. It feels incredible to listen to this song - it brings so much emotion and pride to know that my family member was one of those brave men who were there when the world needed them the most. Keep immortalizing history, because what you do is incredible. Thank you for the wonderful song!

A number of years ago I was a guest of the Benedictine monks at the abbey of St. Benedict in Monte Cassino. From the rebuilt abbey you can see row upon row of crosses marking the final resting places of those who died in this battle. The monks gave me a tour and explained how everything - *everything* - had to be rebuilt following the war. It was an incredibly moving experience.

Been watching and listening to Sabaton's songs and I think I've already heard everything. They never cease to amaze a lot of people with good choices in music.
The Battle of Monte Cassino, and Italian Campaign in general, are a true living nightmare for the Nazis. They're fighting, and losing to, everyone they think are inferior. Aside from British and American forces, the are units from every continent fighting for Allies in Italy. Italy is where the Brazilian Smoking Snakes make a name for themselves. German paratroopers in town of Cassino find themselves fighting room to room with Maori warriors from New Zealand, while above them Polish troops who survived both the invasion of Poland and a year in Soviet prison camps are clawing their way through the ruins of the monastery. The Poles are being supported from higher ground captured by troops from French Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, and Senegal. Forces from other occupied nations are also fighting, both on land and sea, including Free Greek, French, Belgian, Dutch, Norwegian, and Czech soldiers, sailors, and airmen. Elsewhere in Italy, the Nazis are up against soldiers from colonial India, part of the largest volunteer military in history. In the mountains, they're facing the Gurkha Rifles from Nepal, who aren't used to terrain as flat as the Aponine Mountains. The British colonial forces also include Canadian, South African, Australian, Pakistani, Afghan, Arabian, Persian, and, most disturbingly (for the Nazis) units of European Jewish refugees and a mixed unit of Arabs and Jews from Palestine. Oh, almost forgot: the Nazis aren't even safe away from the front since, in addition to Free Italian troops fighting with the Allies, northern Italy is just teeming with Partisans. Bella Ciao, motherfuckers!
One of my all time favorites. Not among the first ones to think of but it defenetly brings a smile to my face. Keep on making amazing music, love Sabaton from Slovenia 🇸🇮.
