    The flash point is referring to the point at which it would combust when exposed to a flame. The fragrance does not “ burn off” unless the wax was boiling hot. Many people are misinformed on what flash point actually is. In most candle videos I have seen, people speak to flash point incorrectly.

    You may know this by now but I just recently found out the flashpoint on the bottle has nothing to do with the temp of the wax. That’s just the temp in which the fragrance combusts when exposed to an open flame. Jeff Stanley & a few others have videos on this if you want to check them out! Ive thought the exact same thing you did for years now.

      True but it still makes sense to not put your fragrance in when the wax is super hot so not to accelerate evaporation.

    • @codybinman55
      @codybinman55 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@KathyM That has nothing to do with why my comment was mentioned. I simply stated what the real meaning of flashpoint is. & even stated I only mentioned it because I myself didn’t know for a while. I never said she should ignore heat all together. Not once.

    Wax melts were one of the first things I made when I started making home and body products. I to make my wax melts much stronger than the 5% usual for candles and one of my favourite toppers are small gemstone beads and give the elastic to those that buy many to make a bracelet or necklace or gem chips and also mica, glitter or sugar pearls and tiny shells on one of the beachy Fragrances. Yours look so pretty

    I'm having problems with my wax melts smelling very strong. I bought 1oz fragrance oil samples from Natures Garden and pillar of bliss wax from them. I used a 1 oz bottle and 8 oz of wax for the tarts. They smell good if I bend down to tart warmer but I definitely don't smell it when I walk in the room. Also after several days I noticed an oily substance on the inside lid (not on the wax melts ). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Brand new to wax melts. But I love the idea of having a STRONG wax melt! Can you tell me-on FO from WSP/C.C. they don't list any info about whether they can be used in candles, right. But they do have a flash point listed on the bottles. Does that mean they are wax safe?
    Sorry-newbie.

    • @FollowingAmanda
      @FollowingAmanda 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s right. I’m glad we have some regulations here. I can’t even conceive using more than 10% because the scent would be far too strong. Even for soap making, many American makers add WAY more FO than is necessary or should be allowed.

    I'm confused on the curing time. In the video you only only cured your melts for 3 days??? When I looked up soy paraffin mix it mentions 7 to 10 days. Would the shorter time be because of size of melts vs. candle???

    • @FollowingAmanda
      @FollowingAmanda 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She seems to take liberties. I’ve never heard of anyone using 20% FO either.

  • @donnaray5451
    @donnaray5451 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi a little confused here. You state that you are adding 5.6 oz of fragrance to 1lb .75 oz of wax at 20% load. Am I mishearing this? 20% would be more like 3.35 oz of fragrance. Am I doing the math wrong?

    • @frankwilkin897
      @frankwilkin897 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1.75 lbs is equivalent to 28 ounces of wax, so you would take 28 times 0.20 which is the total percentage load and it comes to 5.60
