  • Hit the road with Fantastic Pam and Sprout the Pug on a search for Ancestors that took us thru the Alleghenies of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Found the resting place of Pam’s 2nd Great Uncle, John G Chaplin. An artist of note, one of John G’s paintings is in the Juniata Museum of Art in Huntingdon. We were blessed to arrange viewing of the work and it did not disappoint. Further exploration took us to Martinsburg where we found the resting place of Pam’s 2nd Great Grandfather and his immediate family. Pointing the car South, we made our way into the Monongahela and explored the Mountains in and around Elkins. With some searching we located the small Cemetery plot where my 6th Great Grandfather Jacob was laid to rest. This was not far from the site of Wilson’s Fort. Jacob was the first Weese to settle the Elkins area back in the mid 1,700’s. None of these findings would have been possible without the help of strangers. Pam and I are grateful for the kindness extended to us during our search. Thank you!
