I’m a Michigander and I’d love it if someone would make videos like these to show off our beautiful state. So many people think that Michigan is just Detroit. They don’t realize that we have beautiful coastlines and forests, not to mention all our lighthouses.
Cool area, across the road from where you started is a cool Church Camp for kids called Camp Mantowagon if anyone is interested. I used to hunt out of a little off-grid cabin not far from there so I traveled that road many of years with my pap, good times awesome area.
my gf and i were there last month. when where you there? Huntingdon & Broad Top RR ROW my gf showed me last yr and we went to see it last month. the rr was closed up before they built the lake. Agnes hit the area when the lake was almost finished. The lakes orig size was half the size of the current lake.
Aitch is the small village that was raised when Raystown Lake was made. It is pronounced like the letter “H”. Some pictures and history can be found in a google search.
We rented a cabin up there a few years ago, Hawn's was an amazing view in person, While Hiking a few trails, we accidentally ended up on cliffs trail. and it has some of the best views there. surprisingly we saw no one while we were on the trail, it will be a must if we ever get back up there.
Don't be embarrassed. Ive lived all my life about 15 minutes from Pittsburgh and have never ridden any of the Gateway Clipper fleet What a beautiful area. I need to look up if I have any pictures of that area of the lake. I remember the road with 3 or 4 camping areas on it but it was getting dark so we didn't ride through. That place is huge with huge boats in the summer. Waiting for the next one. ❤❤❤❤

I love Raystown lake. I try to get down there with my boat at least once a year. They have some campsites that are only accessible by boat. It's a really beautiful place. Great views from the water too! Have yet to see the lakes version of loch ness. Either she's not there or she is extremely camera shy when I've been there. Oh, and the old power plant gave power to Huntingdon. The old dam and power plant are very much still there. They are under water. You can get there by boat an see it. Scuba divers have explored it for years. Your kayak could get there pretty easily.
I've read about the Raystown Lake Monster but I don't remember where or when. I've also heard rumors about a Lake Erie Monster. I'll have to look them both up and re-read.

Years ago I took my kayak on Raystown Lake and the Great Egrets allowed me to get up close.
