I saw you guys fishing there, good to see you guys. I left before you guys caught anything. I asked you guys if there was a place in town where I could buy squid to fish with and you gave me a piece of frozen lingcod to use as bait. Thanks! I went Bach a week later and caught two bat rays an under sized leopard shark.

knife is life! as far as the outdoors goes, i usually use my havalon. it has interchangeable and replaceable surgical or stainless steel blades. i’ve skinned white tails, axis deer, hogs, javelina, fish and snakes, they’re awesome. also you rock, as well as hiro.

hey Chef, with all the info you gave on dispatching and bleeding the shark to rid the meat of the ammonia does this apply to all sharks ? off the west coast of Vancouver there is such an abundance of the "spiny dogfish" and i am told they are edible too but never tried. have you ever tried the spiny dogfish?

The rear drag can be a little more loose , just in case something runs into the line .
Had a pelican flew into my line and it took like 70 yard in a blink of an eye ..
he shouldve had his drag lower since it has teeth to avoid them cutting the line

The rig you are using is curious. So where I usually fish with wire, I usually add about 2 meters or so of leader between the braid and wire and the slider goes on there. This is so it can offer some stretch for big pulls and headshakes. I find you generally break off less when you hook up big.
Wow you guys made my mouth water, too yummy. In Australia, we are blessed with fantastic seafood and one of the best-eating fish has to be the "Gummy Shark" which looks very similar to what you caught, it's sold in every Fish'N'Chip shop and its that good to eat it's one of my favourites. I think the reason it's so good is its diet consists of crabs and squid it's no wonder they taste so good.
