  • Not everyone can afford a full fat 060 but that doesn't mean you can't have a Terrible Fire 1260.
For just £40 I picked up an LC060 (no FPU) from China. Let's see how it performs with some benchmarks - games and demos.
We have SysInfo - Doom - Breathless AGA - Frontier - Gloom Deluxe - Zeewolf 2 - F/A 18 Interceptor - Pt 2 Horizons Demo by Unique. Let me know in the comments if there's something else you'd like to see my poor man's TF1260 do.
    Enjoy and stay safe x

I got a TF 1260 with a full fat 060, now it has been out done by the PiStorm 32. I do have one, but I do have two A1200. So I can use other one. The PiStorm is a faction of the cost of a full fat TF1260. Lightwave loves the PiStorm 32.

Thank you. I think the performance is pretty good.

Yeah it’s not bad at all for what it costs. The option to put a full 060 is a big plus for me too

Gloom game is awesome, you have a arcade beast now with the TF1260. Amiga sound just blow away pc in late 80s early 90s

Unfortunately, FA/18 Interceptor was not programmed correctly, the physics is not time based but frame based, which means that if your computer is faster, the game itself is faster (time goes faster) instead of keeping the same speed but with more frames.

Hi there and thanks for the video. I am wondering how you got doom to run without an FPU? I was unable to get my LC 060 to play doom without using a virtual FPU and even at that, when I installed the FPU it ran like a slide show. The only way I seem to get Doom to work is when I use a 060 with an FPU (I've two 060s you see). Weirdly I have always heard Doom doesn't require the FPU so that is even stranger. I was able to over clock my LC060 to 100mhz as well but hates some of the Inbetween speeds.

While I do have a full rev 5 060, I don't have a card to put it in yet, so it's a complete waste. I was hoping that the Warp 1260 would be available by now, but I'm now just thinking it might happen before I die. I would consider the TF 1260 but from what I understand it's overclocking is rather underwhelming at this time. Not everyone needs an FPU or MMU (I use to do ray tracing which I want to get back to, is why I wanted the full) I think most people are just thinking why wouldn't I put in the best. From my time with an 030 and 040 I found that compatibility was best with an 030 and if all you want to do is play games then a fast 030 would probably be the better decision as it really only helps with calculation heavy 3D type games so only a few percent of the Amiga games catalogue.
Doom it runs well so it's great. Was the graphical glitch in Doom because the game or the OSSC.
Breathless has some nicer looking areas later in the game (from memory) that would make a better showcase.
Frontier is a love hate for me. I respect it's technical aspect both in coding and world building (yup it much more that one world) But Elite was probably my favorite game, and this is not a follow on to that it's too needy (BTW Elite Dangerous is a fantastic return to form). Oh and the opening sequence is awesome.
Gloom is an awesome frag-fest with bits flying but it doesn't match Dooms level design.
Zeewolf 2 is so much fun and on a quick system is just more so.
F/A 18 felt and played so great on an A500, but is epic on a faster system. Dogfighting, flying under the Golden Gate bridge, skimming the buildings, flying at supersonic speeds at ground level then landing it put a grin on my face. While not my 1st flight sim (that honor goes to Flight on the Dragon 32) but it was the 1st to nail the look (I know it's not technically a sim but it as close as any 16 bit system needs to be)
While I like demos, they feel like I'm just watching a video, the non interactive nature of them put's them down the list for me. This one has some nice visuals.

Thanks for the comment. Not really sure what was going on with Doom - was like a weird screen tearing. I left it in to see if anyone notices and could provide any feedback. It didn't take long!
It's really just a mixed bag of titles that run pretty poor on a non accelerated Amiga 1200. It makes a big different with general use too. I understand that some new firmware in the works too - maybe that'll give some better overclocking results. Let me know if there are any other titles you'd like to see.

      TF1260 has a new firmware - I have LC running at 90Mhz

Well I pulled the trigger on the TF1260 today as I finally gave up on the Warp 1260 (the death of hope)

Is this running on the 50mhz version of the LC revision 4?

Hi, I would like you to test Alien Breed 3D 2 - The Killing Grounds, Shadow of the 3rd Moon (the only amiga flight simulator using voxel based 3D graphics) and perhaps Quake 1 Amiga port. Thanks!
BTW, a FPU only makes sense with some 3D apps like Cinema4D with both a CPU and a specially compiled version for FPU use in the package. Then the app will speed up. The fact, that some 3D tools are faster with FPU support does not mean that any 3D graphics software, including games will benefit from it automatically if present. It depends on the 3D engine. If its 3D is based on integer processing (whole numbers) only, like most 3D games, it simply does not process and need FPU floating point (broken e.g. 1.3454545 numbers) operations, so no speed-up. In fact an integer only 3D engine would even run slower, if you compiled and forced it to run on a FPU only. If those games did use an FPU based 3D engine, they were compiled to use it and requiring an FPU on a mandatory basis, so they would not run on any Amiga without FPU unit at all. Just like a FPU compiled version of Cinema4D.882 won't start on an Amiga without it and you would have to choose Cinema4D 68konly main program to do your raytracing.
Unlike latest PC games that can actually do some extra raytracing (not flully, for some effects only) in real-time on high end graphics cards, most other 3D games both on PC and Amiga use a technique called "rasterizing" not real "raytracing". So it depends solely on the 3D engine and its method to create 3D environments, whether you can benefit from specific hardware features such as shaders, or a extra or integrated. FPU. Regarding your TF1260 and your games, their speed can increase with your CPU clock (e.g. 50, 75 or 100 MHz) settings though.

At me blizard 060 drives quietly to 90 MHz, above memory does not allow! Where to get such sim memory for 128 MB so that it works at a frequency of 100 MHz.

did you have to remove E123C and E125C from your 1200 motherboard?

Thanks for this, and Breathless still looks great, i bought Breathless back in the day (1995) and my mouth fell open how good it looked, it looked MUCH better then Doom 2, and came only 6 to 8 mounts later for the Amiga, i wish i had a Motorola 68060 back then, then i could play it in full screen and highest settings, and Gloom Deluxe is also a great game, i still play it with my nephew, in split screen, and we love it.
And do some Alien Breed 3D II : The Killing Grounds, and Genetic Species, and Nemac IV, and Trapped 2.
But sorry to say your awful in First Person Shooters.

Thanks for the tip on the other games. I can’t promise I’ll be any good at those either 😂😂

@@karldyson7466 Your welcome, and yeah, why not use a Playstation 2 controller, they are dirt cheap, and work perfect on my Amiga CD32, with adapter.

@@karldyson7466 You can strafe perfectly using doomattack, I use it just like any modern shooter, mouse+keyboard. I also manage to strafe easily in some others like AB3D and a CD32 joypad (top left, top right buttons). It can be done ;)
