Yes, I appreciate this video and the steps you guys took to achieve a sound financial plan that meets both your needs as a couple and individuals. I am year 12 in my marriage and this is still hard to talk about sometimes. Especially when "fingers" are being pointed at oneanother. The honesty is real and thus help me to realize that and how important a plan is and just having that hard conversation on a weekly basis. I would like to know what advise or tools you use to keep on track with budget and MISC. Purchases?
So my relationship is over. Initially, he came in paying for everything. He never requested my help. Once I moved in, I asked what I would be responsible for. I held my part. After he adjusted, he added an additional expense. We spend differently. I'm a shopper but everything I buy is either on sale or cheap. He on the other hand, doesn't look at the price, and that was an issue. For example when we went out to eat, I would only order what was affordable and reasonable because you need money for tomorrow. If I took him out, he expected me not to consider the cost. I believe this was an issue for him because I watched how I spent, and he just spent until it was gone and then I was supposed to save the day for the rest of the month.
The best way to take control of your money is to keep your finances seperate. What is his remains his and what is hers remains her's. At the beginning of the marriage decide who is responsible for which bills according to income earned. Certain bills can be shared such as vacations. Take turns to pay for dates. There should be no reason to fight over money if you stick to this simple arrangement.
oh Thank you! Thank you. I am financially independent and I am about to move to the US with my fiance. I will introduce these tips to my future husband. Thank you
I’ve been thinking about this today and I’ve been looking for videos like this but keep finding ones about “financial abuse” instead. Thank goodness I actually found this video to get some actual sound advice 😮💨
Thank you for this video! Even though we don't have financial fights, it's because I do all the work- and I don't think it's fair. Have a blessed day!😊
You mentioned your previous scarcity mindset and “avoidance patterns” with money. That’s 100% me. Even though I promise myself a million times to conquer that mindset it feels impossible. Any suggestions on how to successfully change this approach?
Start with an attitude of plenty. Make a list of ten things you are grateful to have right now. This gets you in the mindset of you are already abundant. It changes your mood dramatically 💚
Thank you so much for this video! I’m about to move across the country to get married to my fiancé and money is definitely something I’m weary about! Video was so helpful
Hello, question is it best to have one account all debt auto pays come from? Currently we two franchises and his pays goes in one and mine the other , we have debt paying from both . Would this be easier if one used fir hopefully soon savings and other for debt auto payments Thank you in advance
This is very helpful for me! Could you make more videos about couple & finances, for example, what is the pro and cons of having separate finances or joined finances? That'll be super helpful! Thanks guys!
Glad you found it helpful!! We're planning our next batch of videos, so we'll definitely consider that :) Let us know if you have any other video requests!

I think overtime it became something that didn’t require a lot of time, unless a new financial goal (like maybe a new(er) car) came along. It’s just checking to make sure everything is on track. Possibly also taking it one portion at a time instead of laying it completely out in one go.
too bad John is not willing to work with me on this, but...! in recent months (after 26 years of marriage) he has been at least willing to listen and even at times contribute an opinion. Yeah! Now, I need to look at me and see if there are things I'm saying inadvertently that puts him off. If so and I can fix that then perhaps I'll finally get the help I need with our finances.
Thanks for watching! Do you want to see more videos on how to manage money as a couple? What questions do you still have?

Also, as coming from different backgrounds in your financial literacy, how did you guys get on the same page? What helped?

So #6 is to split up the tasks as you see fit? Would be nice to have a slide at the end with all 6 principles. Thanks!
Yes! Sorry about that -- didn't realize that we dropped the ball on the last point 🙈
What were some of those tasks to talk about and divide? Outside of the Income vs. Expenses, what more should be considered?
