- In this video I will show you how to replace the brakes on a Toyota Prius. Most Prius 2010 - 2020 are similar, no need for fancy 20 minute TH-cam video for brake pads changing.

31 years old. Finally had the balls to do it myself thanks to this video!. It was kind of easier than changing the oil on my prius
Brakes plus quoted me $600 to fix this. Followed this video instead. 30 min and $40 later, I have brand new brakes that make zero sound. 10/10, thank you. Also liked how to the point this video was. Sadly a rarity these days.
Exactly!
don't be scared just do it, I like that it puts confidence to the viewer
Like that positive attitude😀, life is good. Done. 👍
Awesome Video ! I like to use the old pad to push the piston back in .
Do I need to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery?
I was going to suggest using the old pads to push in the caliper too. great video thanks.

You are the Goat I appreciate you so much just saved me 300 I was terrified till I saw you do this. Just finished both sides up in under an hour thank you Thank u thank you
Yup this is the way my Dad taught me!!! Thanks for the video.. just making sure I didn't forget anything 😁
Excellent video very informative and that cute dog at the end was like icing on the cake
Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
I suggest checking the slide pins to make sure they are not stuck or stiff. Thanks
Thank you brother
Might as well take an extra step to remove the calipers and lube the pins
So professional, thank you 👍
Thank you Sir for making it look so simple
Thanks!
how much torque for brake bolts ?
Caliper pins are nicely greased...
Nice video! What kind of grease was that again?
Don’t need grease, I wouldn’t do it because of how water wind your risking of getting some grease on your rotor and brake pads , 👍
@@DoItYourSelfDudeI’m watching at work and can’t blast the volume so it was hard to hear lol but I thought you applied that oil to minimize the squealing?
hi nice video. do new brake pads usually come with new anti squeal shim hw? or what hw you refer to?
When I changed the first set of brake pads it was ok, then I did the other side and the piston came out of the caliper, I tried to put it back in and it won’t go in, then oil came out?
Brake pistons are not going back in . In order for me to put back the caliber back on . Any suggestions?
Which wheels have brakes on the 2015 prius? Is it all four, or just two?
All vehicles have brakes on all 4 wheels… all you need to worry about is the front
Boom!
And if you don't grease the slide pins the rotor will warp.
What u mean? Do u have to remove caliper to do that?
@@ImmiSuccess all calipers move on slide pins. Most Calipers are bolted to the slide pins. These need to be taken out cleaned and greased with new grease. Sometimes the hole the slide pins are in need to be sanded out or even honed out a touch.
@@ImmiSuccess at the very leased one needs to make sure they move very freely.
What was pushed back? Why it wasn't shown?
It was the break caliper that compresses the breaks pads.
Ok, so what about replacing rotors?
Not necessarily sir , it’s a Toyota , lol , I wouldn’t worry about it I’m at 250k miles and haven’t replaced my rotors ever since I bought the car at 75k miles , blessings 🙏
