I watched your video and liked and subscribed as I am a huge fan of fast Fords as your car is nearly the best of the best. Twenty years back I was a Bank Manager and one of my customers had an Escort Cosworth which he suggested I drove ( still top of the list ) as he found out I was a fan and it is still one of the highlights of my life that and the birth of my son and second marriage and being roped out of the Coastguard helicopter at 100 feet instead of a conventional landing. My late Father bought the first Escort to be sold in the North East of Scotland and I later in life had an Escort 1.8 Si and a Fiesta ST 180. I look forward to your future content with an amazing car but it really needs a wash. Do it yourself rather than let someone else scratch it. I won't even let my Jaguar dealership give my car a complimentary wash.
Love to hear it there is something special about these fast fords! It really does need a wash and I do always try to do it myself! The car did get a maintenance wash soon after
I've had mine from new in December 2016 and it's been my daily driver all that time, now on 68000. Head gasket was done on recall and other than servicing, tyres and brakes all has been good. Mine is also running stage 2 over 400BHP which transforms the car but has not affected reliability at all. Best tip is to look for full service history and MOT history and lots of receipts for any work done that should indicate a good previous owner. Don't be scared of these cars at the end of the day they are Fords and as reliable as any other manufacturer.
Had mine 3 years now. 6 tyres (2 due to hitting a brick on the motorway and having to replace). 3rd service next month. Also needs a TPMS but I've heard these last about 7 years so no surprise there. One issue when it was cutting out (loose battery terminal). Done 15000 miles in that time. It's been in my garage now for 2 months since I bought a BMW 435D. Will bring it back out for the summer months. I've had 4 Mitsubishi Evo's in the past and I wanted a fast 4wd car. Evo's now are either overpriced or rot boxes. The RS ticked all the boxes and it's been a great car.
I was one of the first in NZ to receive mine in 2016. There was a limited number of 2016 engines that had the gasket issue. Mine went in for the recall and no issues, but the gasket was replaced regardless. Mine's done 55k kilometers. Have had zero issues with the car, it's bulletproof, having spent half it's life on gravel roads, and the other half thrown around epic NZ mountain roads. Not saying some unlucky owners didn't have problems with the faulty gasket, but a quick look at the car's (service) history will answer any of those questions.
Had mine since Jan 2017 (from new) now on 30k miles, been 100% reliable, nothing needed servicing aside and I even have started leaving that 24 Months as I'm only doing sub 6k miles a year now. Only issue is it leaks aircon gas and has done since the head gasket recall, presumably they didn't put something back together quite right but the garage closed shortly after...will get it looked at one day....Despite them producing 10x more of them than had been suggested to me at the time of ordered it's been a pretty cheap car to own looking at current prices...it's my daily and no plans to change it
My 2016 Mk3Focus RS is reliable. Only done 40k miles. Five years ago it flew through the head-gasket issue recall with flying colours. Apart from a couple of items fixed during warranty, it's been battery and tyres, oh and a faulty tailgate latch. Still luv it like it was new.
I look at them all the time but they get so many mixed reviews its difficult to know what to do. I lust after a Mk2 as well but the rust issues bother me.
They definitely do get very mixed reviews. Mines been perfect for me can’t fault it but obviously people have different experiences. The MK2 are very cool aswell but I don’t have any experience in that area
Where they suffer is LSPI. Never boot it from low revs. That and maintenance, warming up and cooling down. Oh and cleaning it 😂 Great vid mate, keep them coming.
How many miles have you driven now and have you changed the RDU / PTU fluids? Apparently Ford says you they're lifelong, but car owners suggest changing them.
@@scottr9785 Thanks for replying. I'm possibly getting an RS this week, it has 38k miles, I was thinking if this PTU/RDU fluid change is actually done by many or by just few vocal ones online.
2017 plate now with 18k miles on it. Serviced every year irrespective of mileage covered. Only "problem" is that "Drive mode selection not available" shows at time for some reason. Seems to clear itself. Anyone got any ideas?
I’ve not ever had just drive mode select loss myself. But I remember when I was doing research as to what my issues were I read it can sometimes be caused by the exhaust valve sticking
@@scottr9785 thanks- I'll check that out. When it rarely happens its after a longish run. Doesn't bother me just a slight irritant. Thanks for coming back.
generally sports cars have had harder life if you're buying second hand. budget sports cars fall apart faster higher running costs in repairs. always been that way
@@scottr9785 I meant my interior. Lots of squeaking and rattling. Also the recaro squeaks and the driver door upper window frame vibrates at certain speeds.
I have mine for over 2 years now. No problems at all. Great Car!

Thank you for sharing your experience, it’s great to see some many people having good ones 👍
Is that safe with the open deck block design on these, to go to 400 hp? Serious question

2.5 years of ownership with mine. Modified, use daily, and its done a few track days, no issues whatsoever.

That’s crazy you have all those problems I get no issues with mine must just be lucky. Has it even been hit or anything?

2018 still going strong… eats through tyres
It certainly does
Police may cite you for an obscured number plate.
I think at this point, all the head gaskets have been replaced or the car is in a junk yard. For the most part......
People not realising why it's not washed... If you know you know.
A tissue would help you not get pulled over
Needs a wash 😅
Guy whoffles too much
Well I appreciate the feedback will try to work on it
Why watch it then?
I’ll wash it for £50
Thanks 😅
Crap sold mine after 3 head gaskets boring cars to drive
