happened to me earlier in the year, icy conditions and not enough experience in the car, thank God i was able to drive it home though and it still wears its war wounds 😅. genuinely feel how hard it must have hurt for you to lose that, i'll check your channel to see if you ever got another ❤

2017 plate now with 18k miles on it. Serviced every year irrespective of mileage covered. Only "problem" is that "Drive mode selection not available" shows at time for some reason. Seems to clear itself. Anyone got any ideas?

My sister had one of these when brand new and that rattled from day 1 till she sold it 95k later. I now have my own 22 year old one now & that has same rattles 😂

2.5 years of ownership with mine. Modified, use daily, and its done a few track days, no issues whatsoever.

I was one of the first in NZ to receive mine in 2016. There was a limited number of 2016 engines that had the gasket issue. Mine went in for the recall and no issues, but the gasket was replaced regardless. Mine's done 55k kilometers. Have had zero issues with the car, it's bulletproof, having spent half it's life on gravel roads, and the other half thrown around epic NZ mountain roads. Not saying some unlucky owners didn't have problems with the faulty gasket, but a quick look at the car's (service) history will answer any of those questions.

Put a DVM on the battery terminals and check the voltage. I had this symptom in my 1995 850 T5 - it wasn't the battery or alternator, but I can't remember what it turned out to be. What was the result? A pinned comment giving an update would be nice.

generally sports cars have had harder life if you're buying second hand. budget sports cars fall apart faster higher running costs in repairs. always been that way

I watched your video and liked and subscribed as I am a huge fan of fast Fords as your car is nearly the best of the best. Twenty years back I was a Bank Manager and one of my customers had an Escort Cosworth which he suggested I drove ( still top of the list ) as he found out I was a fan and it is still one of the highlights of my life that and the birth of my son and second marriage and being roped out of the Coastguard helicopter at 100 feet instead of a conventional landing. My late Father bought the first Escort to be sold in the North East of Scotland and I later in life had an Escort 1.8 Si and a Fiesta ST 180. I look forward to your future content with an amazing car but it really needs a wash. Do it yourself rather than let someone else scratch it. I won't even let my Jaguar dealership give my car a complimentary wash.

Guy whoffles too much

My 2016 Mk3Focus RS is reliable. Only done 40k miles. Five years ago it flew through the head-gasket issue recall with flying colours. Apart from a couple of items fixed during warranty, it's been battery and tyres, oh and a faulty tailgate latch. Still luv it like it was new.

Yeah, it was me that mentioned the meet up and I'm still up for it, and the more the merrier! I feel your pain with the windscreen, had mine replaced last year after a stone caused a 12" crack across it. Then a week before Xmas I had to replace a brand new tyre because of a puncture. Now I've just got the car back from the body shop after some "friendly" local decided to key my bonnet, I'm hoping that's the last of the bad luck!

With alternator... Inside alternator there are little plastic gears. If belt is running nice but there is still no eletricity produced that probably means that those gears have been wear off. If you wanna get dirty cheap, it is worth to change only those gears inside alternator. That was actually what was done in one of my Volvo car.

Happened with me in the middle of Poland with 2001 V70, 260 000 km :) I had german language warning message which I couldnt get and take too seriously. Decided to drive to nearest big town to find some descent garage. But in the way there lights started to dim and disappear, driving wheel stiffened and all other stuff :D Until car finally stopped in the middle of big bridge :D But it was not that hard fix by itself, cost me there only about 200 pounds (plus towing of course). And yeah - it was alternator. This car still driving five years later and brings my niece daily to work and back and obviously everywhere else :D So broken alternator is not that part to totally give up projest car, I suppose :)

I've had mine from new in December 2016 and it's been my daily driver all that time, now on 68000. Head gasket was done on recall and other than servicing, tyres and brakes all has been good. Mine is also running stage 2 over 400BHP which transforms the car but has not affected reliability at all. Best tip is to look for full service history and MOT history and lots of receipts for any work done that should indicate a good previous owner. Don't be scared of these cars at the end of the day they are Fords and as reliable as any other manufacturer.

I think at this point, all the head gaskets have been replaced or the car is in a junk yard. For the most part......

Had mine since Jan 2017 (from new) now on 30k miles, been 100% reliable, nothing needed servicing aside and I even have started leaving that 24 Months as I'm only doing sub 6k miles a year now. Only issue is it leaks aircon gas and has done since the head gasket recall, presumably they didn't put something back together quite right but the garage closed shortly after...will get it looked at one day....Despite them producing 10x more of them than had been suggested to me at the time of ordered it's been a pretty cheap car to own looking at current prices...it's my daily and no plans to change it

Check cam seals for that oil leak. It's a cheep and easy thing to check and they can leak alot of oil. And the pcv is probably clogged aswell

Where they suffer is LSPI. Never boot it from low revs. That and maintenance, warming up and cooling down. Oh and cleaning it 😂 Great vid mate, keep them coming.

Think the MPG would concern me more than the reliability lol.

Make sure its not the ignition switch this is a common thing that can keep the lights on the dash When the cars started try turning the ignition switch back a little tiny bit without turning car off and see if they go out Mine did this and it was the switch

I have 2017 focus RS. The RS is getting very little turbo boost. Installed new charged pipes, did a leak test - no leaks. I'm not sure if it's the boost solenoid or westgate actuator. Love the RS, but will have to work on it after the holidays.

You'll be shocked how much Auto Glass would charge for the replacement without insurance cover......£1200! Luckily I had cover, but still annoying.
