These 2 guys from tact bass are the best teachers on Utube . Richard Gene the fishing machine gives me that fishing fever and almost childhood like fishing feeling . between the both a very good combination .
A new winter pattern I’ve just heard from a successful tournament fisherman in a deep/clear lake in Oklahoma. He fished stumps 6ft or less with a 1oz jig and strokes it. The idea is that some big bass will be there; and he knows they’ll be against the stump; and he can get them to react with a super heavy jig on the fall or snapping it back up. One cast per stump and he just hits as many stumps as he can in a day. Interesting pattern and technique.
Tactical Bassin' is no doubt one of the best channels for bass. So informative. Numerous times, I have gone out fishing and applied what I've learned from these guys and have had much better success. No surprise tho, these guys know their stuff and I'm super thankful for their willingness to share what they know.
Awesome video! Been fishing my whole life (I'm 33 so about 30 years now) and my dad taught me most of what you said in this video and it never really made sence....it does now. Thank you.
I’ve got three ponds in my neighborhood that have three types of fish. The smallest had nice Bass of all sizes. The 2nd has smaller Bass and way to many carp. The third and biggest and deepest pond has Bass, Very large catfish, and crappie. All have been tough lately. Now I know where to go on each pond with this video info. Come on weekend!!
Tactical Bassin, I just want to take my time to say thank you for making this breakdown for so many other scenarios and not just having a boat on a lake. Really helps out those from the shore or on a rivee
I know pond guys really appreciate you considering them in your content, because I used to be one haha I’ve watched and followed y’all for a long time now and you’ve help me build so much confidence in myself fishing and now I’m climbing the ranks as a tournament angler. Big thanks to y’all!
You guys flat out instill confidence. My fishing has improved massively especially in winter. You guys should be extremely proud of what you have given to the fishing community. 👍
Matt, Every time I hear Tim and you speak on finding and pattering fish I learn allot. I have used the great information that I receive from y'all content to become a better angler, it's always greatly appreciated.
You opened my eyes. I will now probably have my best winter fishing success. Thanks to you and your great explanation and presentation. Very well done.
Matt, excellent and exciting info! I am one of those third scenario guys and as a first year freshwater angler, the information you and Tim have provided this year has been priceless! Some people I have fished with this year tell me it’s as if I’ve been fishing for years already and I owe much of that to you guys... simply the best info! Thank you, please keep it coming!
Favorite times to fish! You hit the nail on the head... No one is out there and my fish are biggest this year. I have no issues catching bass in the winter. Great video! Learned a lot.
I think I have watched almost every single video you guys post, this year I caught my lake pb of 7.7 in Ohio thanks to you guys! absolutely love your videos! My only wish is you guys would put water temps in reference to a lot of the stuff you do! Thanks for all the advice and help!
My home lake is like a wasteland this time of year. Water gets down to mid 40s and I’ve never had any luck! Only walleye/ whites. Gonna try out some of these tips this weekend. Plus I ordered a couple of yalls $500 dollar combos I need to try out! Thanks for the videos!
Im usually stuck this time of year as my "home water" is technically a river but it typically has such a slow flow that it fishes more like a wind blown pond. The biggest issue is that the best cover is across the river beyond casting range and shore access from that side is private property. Luckily I recently started throwing the S-waver and Im starting to get followed back to the bank.
So just to add to the pond location for bass...I think it’s important to understand the “why” of where these fish are. It was explained to me like this, bass usually want to be in the warmest water that’s comfortable for them, so in the summer, they’ll be up shallow because the water is a little warmer due to ambient and IR temp (from the sun), but in the winter, the deeper water is usually warmer because it’s not as susceptible to temp changes due to outside conditions.
This is an awesome and informative video. I’ve watched this video this winter and last winter. I’ll probably watch it next winter too. Keep making videos! They have helped me a lot
Hey Matt, this is great, this happened to us this weekend on the Cumberland River in Kentucky below Wolfcreek dam. The fish we caught we’re definitely not in the current but on the sides in very deep pools that we were trying to catch trout and we ended up catching our biggest smallmouth ever! That also goes for the walleye we caught!
I recall that right before this video I commented to do a little bit on bassing in tidal rivers in winter. Thanks a bunch! I knew they went to the "oxbows" and deep creeks/arms but never knew they would stay on the main river. Thanks a bunch.
Great breakdown for fishing different styles of water! Here in Florida on the St. John’s River is a little different though. Down here in the river, all year round whether it’s summer winter spring or fall, it’s always the same bite. Down here all year long is either a drop shot, a one knocker rattle trap, or a Carolina rig. All year long those styles will produce and the structure is a bit different from up where y’all are. It’s all shell bar fishing in the current. Getting down and throwing the back sides of the channel or on the step edges of points. All year long here that will produce and you will still catch giant bags of fish. The average bag to come off of a shell bar year round is a 20-25 pound bag!
One of the best and most informative videos I have ever watched. I live in Stockton and love the catfish at clear lake. I'm looking seriously at a kayak to do some bass fishing there. I have a midsize 20' Bayliner so bass fishing is really tough in it. Thanks so much. I may even go tomorrow!
Thanks Matt. I kinda felt like an asshole last time I commented but you guys always hear us out and that's why we love you guys! Keep up the good work fellas.
Thank you for the advise on river I think the rivers get ignored a lot in theses videos, I’m in the middle of Alabama and usually fish the mulberry fork & locust fork of the black warrior and it is usually tough for me. I may get a random bite but nothing consistent.
Matt, I live walking distance to 150 acre lake, fed by a creek with a 300 yard dam. I’m in Raleigh NC but from the bank I can’t reach the deepest water ( 30’ deep ). No boats allowed in winter, and it’s a beautiful jonboat, kayak lake when they allow the small boats APRIL-October
Matt I needed this Video more than you know! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!! Could you do a beginner sonar ( fish finder) do I need $1000 electronic to find the cover and contour lines I’m lost when it comes to them?!?!
Get a Garmin Striker 4 Portable fishfinder I have a video of it on my channel and a link in the description for a super awesome deal on Amazon 👍 ... seriously.
I live around Lanier on the north end where the chatahoochee runs in. And apparently they’ve went into ditches and I’ve been struggling to find them. So I’m gonna try the bluffs.
Awesome info , love to see some central Florida winter tips . Unfortunately not a lot of rock structures or radical depth difference in the Kissimmee chain.
Another great video as always Matt and I have several ones that you have done when it is really cold out, and what really amuses me is that you are wearing flip flops, even though you are all bundled up.
Nearly all of our reservoirs fall into that category unless they're on the valley floor. Lowland reservoirs like Camanche fish much more like a natural lake.
Maybe you guys can go over how to read the depth finder in real detail seems to be very important in the colder months to be able to find your fish and find out how the depth finder and what angles it shoots under the boat so you can really detect where your fish are when you are in the boat. I seem to have a little problem with that myself. Of course my depth finder is just your basic it's not a Upperline type but maybe you can kind of cover the basic depth finder and the better depth finder
How does dirty/muddy water affect the way you either look for or fish for winter bass? Our lakes are surrounded by red clay fields and get very off colored with all of our winter rain! Love your videos and thanks for all the information!
What about brackish inshore bass? Sandy to mucky bottom, lots of stumps. Avg depth 5', deepest area 8'. I catch lots of bass in the spring and summer but always struggle in the winter.
ive been there fishing ponds and wouldnt find them where they were all summer im about to go sunday to find the ones laying in the mud in the deepest point . got 3 jerk bait set ups 2 soft including the double fluke rig and 3 jig set ups finness to big . 1 gantrel jackle jr 1 way or another i will find them thank you
🏆🏆 Matt this is such an INCREDIBLE breakdown for everyone's situation, who agrees??? Thank you 👊👊👍💰💲
These 2 guys from tact bass are the best teachers on Utube . Richard Gene the fishing machine gives me that fishing fever and almost childhood like fishing feeling . between the both a very good combination .
@@lrhcconrad2230 Amen brother,I 100% agree,Happy Holidays ❤️🙏👊
Dude I totally agree. I watched a post spawn video like this and went and tried those areas and spayed them.
Props to you guys for including us pond hoppers in your videos! Best content on you tube hands down, thank you
A new winter pattern I’ve just heard from a successful tournament fisherman in a deep/clear lake in Oklahoma.

NOT even kidding. These are straight up, MASTER classes. I can’t believe this is free. You’re FAR too kind Matt.
Matt I appreciate that you addressed the different types of water in this video. This made the information higher impact for me. Thanks
IDK why y'all don't have 1mill Subs ...UNDERATED 💯👊 🎣🔥 🏆
I agree meanwhile clowns that don't teach a thing doing Barbi doll rod challenges have a million subs...makes no sense
When I want entertainment I go to other channels but when I want to learn things I come here. I find tb videos extremely entertaining also
I have always thought that, easily 1m
FACTS!
Exactly....
Thank you Matt for (possibly?) taking my suggestion in the last video to heart to include us pond junkies!
Matt blows 😮 my mind how much knowledge he has on bass fishing 🎣 Rob Long Island Bass Anglers NY
I swear Matt is a walking encyclopedia of fishing. It just don't get no better than this, Thanks Matt.

Folsom Lake this time of year is absolutely a soul drainer for me. I'm gonna take all this to the lake Sunday. Thanks Matt!

one of two great instructors that I watch.
I’d love more seasonal break downs on ponds and small lakes!
I will never get tired of your channel 👍🏻😎

I’m convinced the fish at my lake snuck out during the night and went south for the winter.
🤣😂🤦♂️
Yeah. They grow wings and fly away😉
@@patrickfries6267 I feel you bro. It's been tuff out there. I was on the lake yesterday for about 5 hours only caught a 4 pounder
Hahaahh def
Favorite times to fish! You hit the nail on the head... No one is out there and my fish are biggest this year. I have no issues catching bass in the winter.
Great video! Learned a lot.
Please do more pond and river videos! That was so helpful for me

These videos help so much! when it comes to spring and summer can you do the same video with the same criteria (ponds, rivers...)
So just to add to the pond location for bass...I think it’s important to understand the “why” of where these fish are. Great breakdown Matt. This is my favorite time of year and I’ve got the bass all to myself. 👍

Awesome tips! I plan on using them to catch a giant.
Fish whisperer. Great detail ,ty for taking time to teach .
Thanks Matt! Need all the help I can get in these cold water ponds.
I recall that right before this video I commented to do a little bit on bassing in tidal rivers in winter. Thanks a bunch! I knew they went to the "oxbows" and deep creeks/arms but never knew they would stay on the main river. Thanks a bunch.
Good guys and great bass fisherman!! I use this for ice fishing an I slammed them up here in North Dakota it makes sense now

An absolute plethora of information thanks Matt! Love ur videos and passion! ⚡👌
Such a helpful video. Thank you so much. Gonna hit a nearby pond, watching this gives me some faith. Tight lines guys.
Thank you for the tips it’s been driving me crazy not catching anything
Have y’all ever thought about creating a where and what to fish flow chart? Either an app or and actual chart guys can keep in their boats.
It’s called fishbrain
great stuff! we fish sharp rocked, sparse cover canyon lakes here in Arizona. great tips
I found that this time of year in the pond I fish which is stocked with rainbow trout the Huddleston works. Or so it has so far this year.
same
Good tip.
Hello these are really helping me catch bass
Thanks Matt. I kinda felt like an asshole last time I commented but you guys always hear us out and that's why we love you guys! Keep up the good work fellas.

Dude I have had a blast pond fishing with a ned rig
Amazing video. Thanks guys im a huge fan of the channel.
All thumbs up Matt. 👍👍👍
such an extremely helpful video love watching you guys keep slaying them big bass for us!!!
You had me at "there's no one out here"
Awesome info , love to see some central Florida winter tips . Unfortunately not a lot of rock structures or radical depth difference in the Kissimmee chain.
mikeybalzz has covered a bunch on Florida fishing. I don't know where he is exactly, but maybe you could apply some things you see him do.
6inch Trash Fish has been working well for me in ponds so far.
Thanks so much for info. Hope I can use it to catch some winter fish. Been a tough one. Not giving up though!
Amazing detail and such a help to fishing any type of body of water. Thank you!
Thanks Matt. Great as usual.

A lot of info, I’ll be going to work trying to break it down this winter for sure!
Best video ever
Thanks Matt
Gonna use as much of this I can for ice fishing
Thank you so much for the lesson. 👍🏽😀
What are some examples of highland reservoirs like you talked about here in California? Berry, Bullards, Melones, Pedro, McClure?
Nearly all of our reservoirs fall into that category unless they're on the valley floor. Lowland reservoirs like Camanche fish much more like a natural lake.
Great video, would help to see on electronics how to best find structure in these deep holes.

Great info! Thanks, Matt!
Exceptional video! TY
What about brackish inshore bass? Sandy to mucky bottom, lots of stumps. Avg depth 5', deepest area 8'. I catch lots of bass in the spring and summer but always struggle in the winter.
Also the river I fish is tough to cast because there's a rail. Tough to set hook an tough to cast
Man thank you. You are the man.
There is a fifth senecio, and that is cooling lakes for powerhouses. The water stays in the 50-60 degrees all winter.
That falls into the Fall and Spring category, those lakes simply do not experience a true Winter.
Another awesome video brother! Thanks as always for your knowledge and time! Keep grinding and slaying them pigs and having that #BIGBASSENERGY 👍👊🔥
A lot of good info you have there sir!
awesome breakdown! Thank you.
Awesome content! Thanks for this Gem👌🏼
