I have Fijian neighbours and they would have big parties and I swear you would not even know there was anything going on you couldn't hear a thing besides the occasional infamous island hyena laugh lol. Quiet, humble and reserved people.
Home tip: My mum mentioned one time while making rourou that the rourou will taste good the more old it looks.. so even if it starts turning yellowish you still can make use of it. That way the rourou doesnt go to waste until you know its really withered
I love the Fijian people. I've been to Fiji cos my husband is Fiji Indian n we visited his family in Taveuni island. There was a Fijian lady who came n help me cooking umu in our Samoan way n I'd also cooked palusami in our Samoan way n she loved it. It was a very beautiful place to stay but I was scared of the frogs running around lol. Me n the other Fijian lady went to catch the crabs at night when I was in Taveuni lol. I also have few Fijian friends n they're lovely people.
the change in Lea’s face when she was peeling the cassava to being told that she still has to scrape the coconut 😂 loved this 😍 beats me and my rourou anyday 😂
We cook that too in the Philippines with coconut....but we cook them together with coconut sometimes with chili....that looks good too....I knew someone in Fiji I also thought I would visit there one day....I love them cassava too....thanks for sharing...my first time to watch you here in TH-cam....
I’m a born and raised Fijian myself and I’m married with three kids and I have grandchildren, but it’s embarrassing to say that I haven’t cooked Rourou in my life. That’s why I’m on here looking for how to cook Fiji rourou 😂. I came across your vedio and I will try your version of rourou. I’m proud of you for making an effort into trying Fijian cooking. You’ll be alright girl. ❤ Vinaka for sharing
