Check out Bobby's "Mack the Knife". Bobby died December 20, 1973 at the age of 37. Due to not taking the antibiotic after oral surgery, he developed sepsis, a systemic infection. They had to do heart surgery to replace two valves,. He passed in the recovery room, never having regained consciousness. RIP Bobby.
A really good suggestion but he actually had 4 or 5 hits that charted higher than "Beyond The Sea" including this one (Dream Lover), "Splish Splash", and his only #1 hit "Mack The Knife".
@@rs-ye7kw This is very true, but : "Beyond The Sea" shows up in sooo many movies and other media, more so than those tunes. Oh, and don't forget "Clementine"!
He was so charismatic. He was a songwriter, singer, producer, actor, famously married to America's sweetheart Sandra Dee for awhile. Recommend watching him on video and you'll see,
There are four Bobby Darin songs to listen to, and this is the least of those. The #1 must-hear is "Mack the Knife." Then there's the amazing 1973 live performance of "If I Were A Carptenter," which is so much better than his single release of a few years earlier. Here is that live performance: th-cam.com/video/bjFRLOktHXo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2OpYv7PCNDMs3LDj Then there are his two other hits,"Splish Splash" and "Dream Lover." I supposed you could add one more: "You Must've Been A Beautiful Baby." It is so sad that he died at such a young age. He was destined to be one of the all-time greats.
I just realized what a pure voice Bobby Darin had. All those wonderful hits he had back in the 60s, I was in my late teens & newly married. My husband (yes, I still have him, 64 years later💗) joined the Air Force & we drove from home in west Texas to Montana, where he was stationed at Glasgow Air Force Base for four years. All we had for entertainment was a radio sitting in our little trailer house and we listened to a radio station, KOMA in Oklahoma City, that played good pop music 24hrs a day. Lots of Bobby Darin hits came on there and we both became fans of his. It was so sad when he passed away years later at the too young age of 37.
The movie about his life is incredible. It's called Beyond The Sea. He was so sick It's a wonder he lived as long as he did. Other songs, Splish Splash. Beyond The Sea.
Ace - for something really beautiful, check out Linda Ronstadt singing "Linda Ronstadt - Blue Bayou (Official Music Video)" - 4 minutes, 18 seconds long. One of the best singers in the world, and performed in front of a live audience.
Beautiful song and amazing singer. Listen to Mack the Knife and Splish Splash. ❤❤❤❤
Then there's the song mentioned in Rock and Roll Heaven, Mack The Knife.

The movie Beyond The Sea is fantastic. It's about his life. Amazing story.
He did a fun rocker called "Splish Splash" and a lovely ballad "Beyond the Sea." He was a very versatile singer and a good actor as well.
