  • Toyota and a lot of other manufacturers prices have been increasing so much within the last few years and at this Toyota dealership they don’t even have affordable vehicles that most people want they only have the very expensive Toyota vehicles and this video we’re gonna walk around a Toyota dealership and talk about what’s going on in the market. None of this is financial advice. Just my opinion.

I do agree its definitely an issue and this is coming from a car salesman markups are not necessary to be a successful dealership. If anything it’ll hurt you in the long run as a dealership.
Tempur-pedic and apple these are companies that have strict mandates on pricing with their sellers
car companies can do this as well

Abolish dealerships and sell direct. I’ve never been to a Toyata dealership but I’m only 74 years old. Bought a Q60s Infiniti from CarMax for $41000 with 22000 miles instead of $70000 for a new one. Had it 16 months and zero problems. I don’t even consider a dealership for anything but free test drives or only something only they can do. Went to Infiniti dealership once to upgrade to wireless Apple Car Play and they send letters all the time like I’m a customer or something even crazy shit like extended warranties. Hopefully I’ll never have to step foot on the dealership again.

That's mostly your fault. In most other countries, trucks are sold as real work trucks. So Toyota's Hilux Champ in developing countries is sold around US$15,000-20,000 for farmers and delivery folks. But in North America, a pick-up truck has become a luxury vehicle to flaunt wealth, so high-end customers require multiple options, nice interior, and latest infotech, etc. And the EPA regulations it near impossible to sell cheap trucks. The chicken tax makes it impossible to manufacture these vehicles in Japan, especially as there is limited market for full-size pick-up trucks in Japan.

They put too much stock in a belief that people would jump on the untested turbo engine, after the Tundra's problems. The days are gone that Tacomas fly off the lot.
Meanwhile, TH-cam channels are showing that you can't take the new Tacoma in snow or off road, and you can't downshift the manual.

I traded my uncomfortable Tacoma for a freaking Nissan Sentra lol. I'm 6'5" 275lbs and I fit in the Sentra better and it's seat is freaking great. Never get less than 40mpg compared to the Tacomas 19mpg. Well equipped SV with remote start, heated seats and wheel, dual zone climate control, 8 inch touch screen and android auto apple carplay cost $10k less than my used 2019 Tacoma was 3 years ago. Idgaf if they run forever it's not worth the compromises you make to live with one. A new corolla with a shitty 1990's rear suspension cost thousands more than a loaded Sentra for a base model! Forget Civics, they're even worse. Ffs why do I need to spend $30k for a weeny car just to run to work? I don't, I'd rather take my chances with a Nissan cvt (fight the stealership on the extended warranty cost, it's how they make money since the cars are so heavily discounted).

And the funny thing is, this Tacoma will not hold a candle to the 1st, and especially the long-running 2nd gens (2005-2015), as they're already having, you guessed it, 'reliability' and 'quality' 'issues'. Too bad Toyota hasn't been the same company after the 2016 redesign of the 3rd gen Tacoma (2016-2023), and even the 2009-built 4Runner is having issues after the 2021 model years, and this is coming from Japan.

Only good Toyota products left are V8 models like the LC500 which is actually worth the $105K it costs and the IS500 which is a very fast car for the $65K it costs. The Camry is reasonably priced but they killed the V6 and added a high pressure turbo to extract power from the engine by keeping it under high stress. Don’t buy these domestic made V6 trucks for Japan made V8 supercharged 600hp prices.

    V6 failures = Tundra oversupply
High cost is affecting every mfg, not just Toyota.
You really do have to take into account, the state of the economy and not just in the states and let's not forget what COVID shutdowns did to supply and yes, even several years out that is still affecting most industries. Have you tried to get a popular model large appliance lately?
High cost and low or no supply is now the new normal. Get use to it, because I don't foresee a positive change in the near future even if Trump is elected President in Nov.
