- Caste Discrimination in IIT has been going on for the last couple of years as the number of Jee aspirant are increasing and there is a caste reservation system in our country. It's sad to say but there is discrimination on caste, gender, and economics in IITs as well.
In the 5th episode of Sawal Sunday, Caste discrimination in IIT and placement in IITs is going to be the highlight of today's episode along with all the questions that you future IITians have asked.
It's very important for JEE aspirants to focus on improving accuracy and avoiding negative marks in JEE mains 2024, I have shared my personal accuracy-increasing tips for all JEE mains 2024 aspirants.
Caste discrimination happens in iit, not on the basis of their actual caste but on the basis of rank and capability. Initially, students think those who have any category in IIT don't deserve to be in IIT and underestimate those IITians.
There is also a kind of discrimination that is related to the placement where there is gender discrimination because companies have to maintain the gender ration, the ratio of girls in IITs is already less. So girls get more advantage for the placements in IITs.
In this series, I will cover the questions you guys have asked in the comments related to your JEE preparations, IIT, college life, placements, and anything you guys ask about.
Hence, this 'Sawal Sunday' series will be a great help for you in getting answers to your questions.

Why no one talks about the upper caste people getting eservation benefit through ews. There is no much rank difference between obc and ews atleast in neet. In some cases obc rank is better than ews in neet. But still ews people are shown superior than obc. I don't about crl rank difference between obc and ews in jee because I couldn't find it anywhere.

My respect for Olympiads like IPho INMO increased because there is no reservation in those exams and students are selected only on the basis of their hardwork

I am also from lower caste but reservation should be removed but not only form study but also form society reservation can't be removed until upper caste stand against caste system .

@@imLakshyaSharma bro it isnt easy to remove casteism some people think the same as 90s about caste. For them caste is just a parameter for measuring respect and dignity. Also we target a specific sc st people which are somewhat developed and going to different sectors of economy. If we consider iit jee then according to an article by drishti ias there are less sc st students in iits and nits means the total seats reserved for them are itself not filling and people say 'ye to general ki seat le rha h'. Sc and st people can't afford even two meals a day and we picture them as seat theifs of general candidates. Now this is the reality.
Also bro i respect your opinion that remove caste discrimination, uplift backward castes and remove reservation but remember it is India we have largest population in the world and it is not easy at all. Reservation in political institutions was meant only for 10 years but it's been stretched till today because we are failed to uplift the backward categories so that they can equally compete among others

I am from one of the top 10 IITs and i can verify the above information is 100% true. Also i belong to a lower caste background and studying in lower caste background is a form of struggle. FAMILY IS THE BIGGEST INSTITUTION FOR A CHILD. That’s why auto rickshaw drivers son becoming IAS is news and not IAs son becoming IAS. Majority of ground work and low wages work are done by lower/backward caste people and that’s why dignity of labour is missing in India. Because it is considered that lower work should be done by lower people only.
The feeling of undeserving and unworthiness, guilt that "you have eaten somebody else's seat is real" and is inculcated inside us by bad mouths of IITs. I never had backlogs in IIT, I got internships, Placement in private company ,10 LPA package on merit, I was always a topper student in 10th and 12th scoring above 90% but i am from tier 3 city where I studied from local coaching and I got the highest marks in JEE in our only batch of 26 students, but no one cares about all this. Telling my AIR 1920 (SC) rank which is roughly around (50000 in CRL out of 12-15 lakh) to anyone always made me anxious like someone is asking me my caste and he will hate me for using my legal right. But slowly everybody knew when i told them my marks and i can see the change in the body language, I come to know who will accept me and who will not and this happens because majority is of General students.
In IIts i made good friends and seniors who helped me a lot but bad mouths are always there. I performed under this inferiority complex and got only 10 LPA I was mechanical branch and got in IT/Software. I made my software career on merit This gave me confidence. I started feeling confident again. I realise confidence comes back again by hardwork. If i had used my full potential with feeling of inclusivity among others, with good self-esteem and respect from others then results would have been much better. Sky is the limit.
I studied lot about Indian history , Caste system, Reservation System, Demographic disadvantages of Indian students. I found that every student in India has certain disadvantages and Indian constitution helps them to mitigate the some hardships by providing reservations only for entrance in colleges. Campus ke ander Quota kaam nahi krta.
1. Caste based reservations
2. Gender(FEMALE) based reservations
3. kashmiri Quota
4. Regional Reservation Quota (EX: HomeState Quota in NITs, DTU, NSIT )
5. PWD
6. EWS
7. Defence Family
8. So on
To all General Category Bad Mouths: Guys tomorrow someone from your fasmily will use Female reservation to get admission in IITs which is her legal right, Regional Reservation quota, EWS,etc. and they will face same bad words from the guys like you in their campuses.
Like "CH**T Quota se aayi hai" etc. and trust me it feels so bad. I have seen this happening in my IIT. I have visited other IIT campuses too and I can confirm this happens.
Reservation system is the only way to protect our Indian society as a whole only 18% is general category population in india and it will start to decrease then next big population is OBC, SC and their leveling up is important, some of them needs to have representation in big positions.
Reservation system is on SELF DESTRUCT Mode, when all the people from let's say SC will compete for the same reservation seats the cutoff will rise like stock market prices and 1 day it will reach close to that of general like OBC has done it. Just wait for 30-40 years more.
Most of the people dont understand this that marks are not that important, RANKING is. Even if cut-off for general category is same as of SC/ST still a GEN guy wont get admission because someone in your category is ahead of you. You have to clear safe score not just cut off. Gen community is so competitive because of obvious reasons like discriminations done in the past. The Backward society parents doesn't even know what is IIT and NIT, Technology career, Corporate, startups, fundings etc. How will there children know about the world. I repeat FAMILY IS THE BIGGEST INSTITUTION FOR A CHILD.
In all this the argument that general guys with higher marks is not getting admission but the guy with lower marks or girls with lower marks are getting it which is actually sad. But understanding the overall picture is maturity and end of the day the people with strong mindset and hardwork, will only win in life and it doesn’t matter where u studied from.
Ps. I Just wanted to explain my PoV. So that anybody feeling inferior in any manner to anyone in any college can get some courage and believe in themselves. It’s all legal process of getting admissions no need to feel inferior, or guilty, no need to hide your AIR ranks feel free to express you will see many of general guys are so welcoming and helpful. You will learn lot of things from them when they will share knowledge about anything like jee preparations, their parents being IIT, IAS,director at co., physics professor, family businesses, abroad trips, siblings doing masters in abroad, their industry connects, etc. Observe and Absorb knowledge. ☺️

If at 50000 I’m getting judged like incapable, undeserving, etc. Just think about a guy with > 1 lakh rank in some state college or private college, think about a guy who took admission by giving donations, how much he will get judged doesn’t matter how good engineer he is. Every year more than 1.5 million engineers are graduated. If I’m at 50k I DON’t have any RIGHT to judge a 2 lakh, 5 lakh ranked guy. No one knows his/her struggle. Same should be true with 6000 ranked guy. Point is great competitive people doesn’t mean a good human. ☺️
I don't know what to say... But being a girl and that too a girl from sc category and also whose family doesn't know about iit nits etc... a girl who doesn't have any doctor or engineer in her family... A girl who is the eldest child in her family.. a girl who is the first female studying away from home in a hostel.. a girl whose family income is so low.....

I am from maharashtra board , matlab not cbse or jee related but i want to give iit jee but now i am in 12th std and in 2024 feb my board exams are there , so i want to give 100% on board studies , i am thinking to take 1 year drop forr jee will it worth it , ,,,,,,, there are two topics
1] can a different board student not CBSE give jee EXAMPLE . , maharashtra board
2]A 12th std student who gived his 100% on boards and going to take 1 year drop for iit jee is good decision.

Hello I am 2024 aspirant too both for Maharashtra board as well as JEE. So I can answer 1st question. You can give JEE exam irrespective of the Board you belong to. It doesn't matter which board you belong but yes you have to complete criteria of 75% pcm aggregate. And sorry I can't answer 2nd coz I don't plan to take a drop.

For maths I don't have an idea for starters I use cengage, sl arora(must have) is good for starting in physics, for chemistry again I don't have idea because I mostly completed my syllabus and sticking on PYQs.
But still I strictly recommend I am a stranger, you just couldn't believe on anyone for your journey.
Its simple - As I said listen reviews, then you can download PDFs of those books to see if they are good for you, it will increase your belief in your journey.
Don't take it lightly because you may end up asking yourself that whether I am going on the right path with correct materials ?

I am a general category student, currently preparing for NEET ND when I see some SC ST students especially STs (with the same resources, some coming from wealthy families) scoring so low ND still been able to get a govt. college seat..IT SUCKS....ND believe me every other student like me feels the same..Sometime I jst try to avoid them ND prevent a heated argument..

I really against reservation for everyone from caste I am from obc and I have seen people in who are really hardworking still need a drop just because of being in general but at same time I support the idea that reservation should be given to people like us who can't afford COACHING and books my family income is less so that's the problem for me though I will get reservation
I couldn't agree more. I am totally against the caste based reservation system. But I have no issues with the ews quota. However, ews quota is designed on the grounds of caste communities which according to me is unfair. The entire system requires reform which is the need of the hour. Thankfully I found someone who has similar thought processing .
