    I enjoy your videos. Raw and full of emotion. Don't change man, be you. One thing I respect about you is how much you value your role as a husband and father. Cycling is awesome, but being a great man for your family is pretty damn cool, too. Ride on!

    I get the idea of having fun on a short course. Last spring I did a "100 Miles of Nowhere" ride in my neighborhood. It was a 0.85 mile lap, all right turns, one stop sign I could cruise thru. First time i've done under 6hrs century, and it was a blast. Watching people and cars and houses and things change thru the day was neat.

    I remember when me and my mate wanted to get the strava monthly climbing challenge where we had to climb 1500m. We live in the flattest place on earth (northern flanders) and we took a train to a hilly region and just did the same thing we could almost coast up the other side and did about 200 ups and downs 😂 absolute blast

    Great stuff well done. Its a huge accomplishment, even doing it like this. In fact as was mentioned by thebikepackingadventurer below, despite the gains you get from gravity, the constant power bursts each interval could be harder than a long steady gradient. Its easier to run a marathon at a steady pace than to do it in sprint intervals, you probably wouldn't even finish a marathon if you tried this interval power burst method. On Zwift you earn the Tron bike for climbing 50 000m. There is a particular piece of road on Zwift just like this one in the video - it was where I did precisely sessions like in this video to get to 50 000m. Its one thing to climb a 3000ft (1000m) mountain like Alp D'Huez every day. But this half pipe method builds amazing burst power for real world cycling. But just the fact that you climbed The Everest in 1 sitting is truly remarkable, period. Congratulations !

    I had been wondering if anyone did these Everests anymore and I like the way you did yours, you did the elevation with a run-off ramp, in effect, and that's a whole lot safer than jamming on the brakes at the bottom and safety counts anywhere, especially open public roads. And it does look like you have that tough guy, one-day Euro race-winning form. They should let you ride a big race or two over there, like the UCI Gravel Worlds,, just tell 'em about all the great footage you would get with your selfie stick. 😀

    Great video. Since you weren't trying to set an actual Everesting time I don't imagine this matters to you, but one reason your time was as long as it was is because the climb was relatively short, meaning you had to ride a lot more miles overall. You rode 30 miles more than Phil Gaimon did in his effort. Even if you were climbing faster than him, those extra 30 miles are gonna add a lot of time.

    • @elswick4636

      @@therondcI think ur math is off, shorter climbs would not add more miles (unless you are adding the distance to do the U turn, which would not add up to 30miles), less steep climbs add miles. All the real records are done on very steep hills.

      This gets into the weeds a bit, but my new ultimate came with a Shimano set up, which cannot be converted to a one by because Shimano doesn’t have an e mountain bike derailer. But the bike is insanely light, so I had to choose between the lightest bike I’ve ever ridden or my one by set up which would’ve worked perfectly for this route. I had my old ultimate with me as a back up, but ended up finding I was climbing fast enough to stay in the big ring on the 2x .
      This though, has cemented my opinion on 1x, THEY ARE AMAZING. I can’t wait to strip off this 2x shitmono and put my Sram Eagle 1x on it.

    Utmost congratulations. And I personally find it rather demotivating that what I’ve long viewed as an exercise in futility has become so illogically over-regulated!
    Prohibiting “physics” aided efforts makes very little sense when one considers that a 30mph tailwind could provide equally significant elemental assistance throughout “standard” reps of any climb.
    Haven’t looked at the official rules for awhile, but perhaps exceptionally favourable conditions are also accounted for when the ride data is submitted for review and deemed to be a benefit that precludes the applicable time from being classified alongside fully validated “fair game” efforts!

    • @sk8moto
      @sk8moto 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not true at all, this effort takes way less energy than a legal effort. Simple physics. My guess is it's 30% energy used of a legal effort.

    • @Gigadenza
      @Gigadenza 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sk8moto I never claimed that it took less effort, and every attempt obviously requires a unique amount of measured exertion, whether gauged aerobically or via a power meter.
      My point was that there are many more external variables besides gravity generated momentum that could be harnessed to significantly aid the rider and I’m not clear regarding exactly which if any others preclude what are technically successful Everests from being officially validated after the data has been submitted and analysed.
      Would a 40kph tailwind for example be effectively defined as elemental EPO, and therefor either disqualify the time achieved or cause it to be classified in a separate category from those that are recognised as wholly “legitimate”.

    • @sk8moto
      @sk8moto 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Gigadenza I think you are confused, I am the one claiming it is much easier to "mega ramp" it. You make it sound like it's equivalent to a legal effort. You wind example is ridiculous because you are coming back down on the same road and when would you have 25mph wind consistently for 8 or so hours ?! And even if you do, I will bet you the difference is negligible.

    What plugs do you use for tubeless punctures? What should I keep with me? Thanks!

      I use dyno plugs, performance bikes has a good setup that’s easy to use.

    How tall are you, I’m 6’3 270lbs, I would like to drop to your size. Any tips?

    • @TheVCAdventures
      @TheVCAdventures  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’m 6’2. At my heaviest I was 230ish, and not a good 230. All fat. It took me years of slowly dropping weight and tweaking my diet to be sustainable. I was around 155-160 for a few years but recently had a goal to gain more muscle.
      Tips for weight loss is hard because everyone is different, but you can’t go wrong with getting objective data. Get a calorie tracker, Garmin, Apple, whoop, whatever, understand your burn rate, then track everything you eat with the free app Macros. Weight the food and don’t miss a single item.
      It will be annoying at first, but then you will clearly see where you can improve. Then slowly, over time, cut out and replace the high calorie junk. Soda > sparkling water will save you hundreds of calories a day. Understanding serving sizes will also help a ton.
      But go slow, don’t burn out, and be patient. You will get there with having good information.

      Thanks Kevin, my wife is the reason I get to do dumb ass shit like ride all day on a Tuesday so I need her to know without a doubt that I appreciate her and value her time and energy.

      much respect bruh. FYI, your vids are the "carrot" I'm using to get back on the bike after almost 6yrs of serious medical challenges that completely changed my life and especially my cycling "life". I went from hitting anywhere from 8 to 10,000 miles a year to riding nearly 700miles total in the past 5yrs. Now I climb on my spin bike 5days a week, hit youtube, find your vids and zone out with my goal of building up to an hour of riding. You have no idea how your vids allow "us" to just forget OUR pain for a bit and become baptised in yours. My goal is to hit an hour solid in the next 2 weeks and then do my annual NYDays on Jan 1st...a whole 12.7miles/987' of climbing. It doesn't sound like much but it'll be the longest ride I've done in YEARS and will jumpstart my cycling into and I hope through 2024. Keep doin' your thing man, I/we appreciate it. @@TheVCAdventures
