At first, I am afraid that Max would betray Celia in the end because most of the movies I've watched is like that, but instead he surprised me with his kindness and became one of the people that helped Celia achieve his dream. I am really glad for Celia and I wished I can find a friend like Max
at least he is not became an horrible person like Dan stevens character
VIII
I'm shooked too
In real life its impossible to find a friend like that. In my case anyway. People will take advantage of people.
Damn that was a pretty great and wholesome story. Man you can only wish to have a friend as great and loyal as Max.
Ngl I feel bad for all the guy went through. It wasnt his choice to be partially blind yet he tried his very best to overcome his disability.
Bro its a movie 💀💀💀
@@lmg6831 i thought it was based on a true story 🤣
@@lwazisomtsewu356 l would say loosely based
How u over come blindness
@@Happiness1876 seeing
I actually know this man, in real life. he was a guest speaker, at a class i was taking and we became friends after that.
He's a whirlwind of hustle and brilliant guy.
Wow! He is determined and I am so impressed.
He is such a character that he should have played himself, in this film.
@@MegaRudeBoy69 I am Max. I know all of Celia's friends and you aren't one of them. So, stop lying.
@@wonderman8537 Ask him who gave him English lessons in Hamburg. Either he says Rudy or you don't know him and should STFU.
@@wonderman8537 yet you didn’t spell his name correctly; Saliya
Also who possibly thinks they know every single one of a persons friends?!
The kindness of the ppl around him has me bawling
This guy is a good example for determination
This happened to a friend of mine. The most humble and absolute nicest human being I've ate to this day.
You’ve eaten*
You ate him? How did he taste like?
Huh? Ate??
U eat nice humans?
📸🤨
This is based on true character named Saliya Kahawatte. Movie tittle’s “My blind date with life”. The actor name’s Kostja Ullmann
thank you so much
U the real mvp
it is based on his life, but not exactly his life
Thanks 🥰
Thank you
This movie made me cry in excitement and happiness.
Me too
Name?
@@diamondp2722 “my blind date with life” it’s a German film so that’s actually translated
That reminds me of my childhood I couldn't see and my parents didn't care so I made my way around by feel and listened really attentively.
I got glasses near the end of my teen years but I missed out on alot.
Couldn't imagine having to be like that for my whole life
I’m so sorry you didn’t have the help you needed as a child 🤍
So sorry that you didn't get the help earlier. Hope you make lot of happy memories now.
What a great story. It’s refreshing to see true acts of kindness for once.
what a gorgeous actor
Laura is a kind of girl who will left you in your wrost situation with miserable behaviour and come back when you're settled down .
I'm sorry but I can understand her leaving at that point. He endangered her kid by not telling the truth
@@realglutenfree i get that, but funny how well timed she is, skipped right past the getting fried, drinking, and hospital, and went all the way to the i got my job back and passed my exam
You’re weird. This was a completely reasonable response to a situation. He didn’t disclose and hid it from her.
@@b2kzangelalwayz Right! It a SUPER lucky they found her kid alive and safe. And how is it her fault and how was she supposed to know his dad was a douchebag and abandoned and took all their family’s money? And his family is penniless and struggling??
“Sorry I lied through our entire relationship and endangered your kid. I completely destroyed your trust. Can you give me money, though?”
why would she stay with him in his worst situation she literally just met him
You can tell it’s an automated voice when he pronounced “résumé” that way.
and invalid
Ai voices are becoming very unnoticeable.
At first I thought the voice was a text to speech voice because he said "resume" as in "let's resume the class" instead of "résumé". But then at the end he whispered to subscribe?! No way text to speech is THAT advanced!
So now I'm realizing that he's just human, prone to mistakes as humans do... Or is he?
Also this movie seems right up my alley. Definitely gonna try to look for and watch it. Thanks man
It is text to speech but if the accents were left out on the letters than it won’t say résumé. So that’s the TH-camrs fault 😭
I love how he didn't shake the HR guys hand twice. Once after the interview was over and at the end when he passed certification.
The dedication of this man is awesome
i felt the emotions of the people who tried to handshake him
Max and salenias helping each other is so sweet
The title “ this guy is COMPLETELY BLIND “. 3 seconds in “ he is almost blind like 95%”
how the heck do you keep the fact you're hidden blind so well? Is everyone else blind too or just incredibly stupid???
"How many fingers am I holding up?"
Blind Person: "Uhhh.... a number!"
"Ok, you seem fine to me~"
As someone who had untreated kerataconis for years (hard contacts used to cost 5000+ and were never covered by insurance) you learn to adapt.
Now granted mine wasn't 95% blind, but anything part 6 inches was still a blur.
Ngl once I was finally able to afford the contacts for the first time and was leaving the eye center I legitimately cried. It'd been years since I could do something as simple as read a menu at a fast food place.
Thankfully now though the price of the contracts had dropped to 2k, and they're considered medically necessary.
@@Zanaan well i wrote the comment before the movie started, i didn't know he was only partly blind and not completely (nor did I know such a thing existed XP)
Youth is such a great thing...never see the limits and go straight forward toward your dream. 20 years ago, there was a blind student in my classroom in University (Canada)... software engineering. She got her diploma.
Laura rightly should be upset with Saliya, he should've told her about his sight when it was suggested he should look after her son.
But let's not assume we don't know she came back because the market for a single mother is pretty slim pickings lol.
"Laura came back...because she was lonely".
Why is no one talking about the “beautiful” singing voice-
you whispering at the end scared the shit outta me
that women shook him off at his first sign of disability and his first failure while he stuck through everything she threw at him even while having a kid that girl is a walking red flag
and why make the woman come back at the end, the man deserve better love than her!
women are supposed to have kids
I think it was probably the lying & putting her kid in danger...
This is a beautiful movie
Retinal detachment typically presents with a falling curain appearance rather than blurry vision - painless falling curtains and then darkness. But still, an interesting movie
Groovy man… you pick good movies .. you’ve got a voice for radio man.. ever look into that..
It’s computer generated.
Lol well it was a nice thought
doesn't even sound like radio voice
What is computer generated
so many moments like 2:16, where you can't even have eye to eye contact with people. There are times when I squint out of habit and people think I'm mad-dogging them.
This brought tears to my eyes
I’m literally blind like that in one eye and it’s so annoying but I still try to do my best at work and my supervisors always tell me how I work so hard ❤
Even in uhnw life styles their is heartfelt understanding.
You forgot the awesome scene in the restaurant (during the date) Celia just continued talking while beautiful girls walked by and everyone turned around. That's what made her so interested in him
As soon as someone found out he was blind, he would have been fired.
So dumb
Whenever you are a person who perhaps, has a crush but is too shy to look at them. Just remove your glasses, or borrow some reading glasses. Problem solved! You will confidentially always face forward
Whoa the lead actor looks so much like Gael Garcia Bernal I still can't believe it isn't him!
I loved the early wholesome twist that the irresponsible rich kid who's a rival candidate for the job ends up being his most loyal friend! No bad guys in this movie and it looks like a lot of fun anyway.
I assume they wanted to have some type of very positive movie, but I would have preferred a movie on his real/full life. It was way more dramatic and at times very hard. Portraying just the happy end lets people believe that if one works hard enough everything is possible and there is no need to change people's mentality and the legislation or open/continue the discussion about same rights for people with disabilities (although, the laws exist, the employers just jump through hoops to avoid complying with them).
He shouldn't have had to hide his blindness in the first place basically
@@beatm6948 You are born after 2000, aren't you? The guy was born in the 60s, so he became blind in the 70s. At the time people with disabilities had little support/rights in most countries. They still have little support and rights in most countries nowadays if we are honest. Germany (he lived in the GDR at the time) is one of the countries where currently people like him have support (at least in theory), but that is unfortantely not the standard...
Hey Mr. John your recaps always make me cry 😭😭😭😭
That's a very beautiful movie ❤

Wow that story was fantastic!
I can’t remember the last time I cried and even for a movie for that matter

What is the name if this movie.
Brudda, you got a sub just because of that last line. Loved it XD.
"5 year old son"
BRO, she is like 22. 💀
Ok so let me get this straight, he had surgery for his failing eyesight and the operation was successful but he lost 95% of his eyesight?? How does that make sense?
I think they just got rid of the disease and tried to salvage what they could
Whenever it comes to eye operation, there's always a risk of completely destroying the patients' vision.
Even with some basic operation to get rid of myopia using LASIK technique, the doctor has to warn the patients about certain risks associated with the operation, including blindness.
Perhaps it was a degenerative condition that had progressed that far before it was stopped. You might think that if so much vision was lost it wouldn’t be worth it to do the operation, but every bit of vision counts.
It doesn't, like half of this movie. How do you wait a table blind? Cycle down a mountain? Next he'll be driving
im not crying your'e crying!😭 what a beautiful film
you're
10:55 I'm waiting for like an asteroid to come into frame and ruin everything or something lmao
I remember watchin this movie just on sum random occasion and was completely surprised by it.

Then What are spectacles for?
guy and his friend was great but the girl dammmmmmmmmm son
same with me, i cant see anything .... after get illness
cool video
Sarah was a gold digger in the end
This story may make you feel good and think it's wholesome but I bet those employees that have to adapt are having to work extra to compensate for their blind guy
Yep. Huge insurance liability
From what I've seen it's more the other way around. Having to spend the extra work constantly to familiarise himself with the stuff around him without the ability to see on top of doing the same work to the same quality as everyone else is very time consuming. The people around him taking a few minutes or maybe an hour to help aren't working that much extra to help him, especially compared to how much extra work he's doing himself on top of helping his friend back here and there.
@@aliceinwonderland8314 He presents a saftey hazard to those around him, remembering the scene when he fell into the cake? Broke all those glasses? He's unfit to work, accept it. It's like asking a sociopath to be good at social work, it's just not a good idea for anyone involved.
Now you found a job now women came back.wowwwww😂
arent there lenses that can help the vision?
This hotel sure does engage in a lot of illegal employment practices.

Why did you say "resooms" instead of "resume"? Is this an artificial narrator?
