Beat It is not one of my fave songs, but this performance is FIRE! There are so many details that make it extra special - even though, as you said, he is so consistent. Plus the live vocals, with all the movement, it's literally breathtaking hahaha

This was great! Looks like the Bad Tour in the late ‘80s? Anyway, love “Beat It” from his epic “Thriller” album. I bought that LP, on vinyl, at age 15 in 1982. Wore it out 😂. Have since bought it on tape, then CD and eventually digital. One of the top selling albums of all time (deservedly so), and the album that displaced another favorite of mine, Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” as the biggest selling album at the time. Both have been eclipsed since, but they are still and always will be classics in my book. Oh, and shout out to the late, great Eddie Van Halen, who played the guitar solo for “Beat It” on record, though uncredited. Quincy Jones called him up and Eddie came to the studio that day. I don’t think his fellow band mates in Van Halen would have liked the idea of him doing a side project. MJ and Quincy loved what Eddie played, but Eddie wanted to keep it hush-hush, which doesn’t really work when the song soars to #1, the album sells tens of millions of copies and it’s a Michael Jackson album 😆. Everyone knew it was Eddie playing the solo once they heard the song, as his style is so recognizable.
