I like the show. To me it is a stronger story than The Do Over Damsel because that one is more comedic. This one is more serious. Looking forward to season 2.

I think Do over Damsel world building wise makes it on par with this but the production issues and poor directing really hurt the show for me but I still enjoyed it.

I can tell you really didnt like the series. This series is an underrated favorite of mine and if it didnt click with you thats fine. Ive seen alot of people like the series but I did hear that there were changes to of course give a more conclusive ending which is on Akira's channel. The entire series was unique in the way it handled things I find Duke and Alicia's relationship more to be comedic than a serious romance so it didnt really bother me and there are one or two moments with the two of them that I really like so there is something there.

Yep, it is pretty obvious. She was denying Duke and Alicia's relationship. For me, I can see how much Duke loves Alicia. It all started from when they were kids. Alicia has been wearing Duke's necklace for the longest time until Alicia threw it back at him during the court proceedings. I think Duke's heart hurt like crazy that time. This act shows how much he would sacrifice himself for Alicia.
Alicia has been trying to deny Duke all this time because she believed that Duke should be with Liz as in the game. I didn't see their tit-for-tat as comedic, instead it was just Alicia playing hard to get because of what she knows from the game. Until the very end, in the carriage, Alicia finally accepted the reality of it all that Duke really is in love with her.

@@zam023 I agree with this. Alicia said it herself that she really liked Duke from when she was playing the game but she always thought that he would end up with the heroine. Duke fell in love with her because she was hard working and determined. While I also couldnt really look at their relationship when she was a child by the time she enters the academy I really found their dynamic fun from the perspective of Alicia constantly having her guard dropped around Duke and Duke struggling to fight his possessive feelings to allow Alicia to be herself. As I said there were two to three really solid moments with Duke and Alicia and those were him saving her from Liz, the moment in the cafeteria after their fight where Alicia tells him not to hold back and him overall finding a way for her to go to Laval I actually found impressive given that it meant not seeing her for a long time.

Alicia is older at this point so I don't think her age is a big deal. The age gap thay is worse is Jill and Hades from The do over Damsel.

Alicia is now 16 so Liz and Duke are in their 20s I believe.

I only watched this show because you were watching… I don’t go out of the way to watch romance or “otome game” fantasy genre… that being said, I didn’t hate the show. The thing that bothered me most was the amateurish artwork here and there. I think I agree with you that the Prince and Alicia’s relationship didn’t feel realistic. I feel like this whole season was just a prelude to the real story (if it does get better… I have no idea), as I’m intrigued in what will happen when Alicia goes to Laval.
Maybe besides the poor artwork, Alicia herself didn’t seem realistic as she took everything lightly and in stride as if she were still just playing a game rather than living a real life. Also, I feel like there was not enough adversity to make the story more interesting. The episode where she was captured and hurt was when it was the most interesting… it felt like there were real stakes that she had to deal with. I don’t know if the light novel or manga this was adapted from is any better…. If they are, then I guess it was just a botched adaptation.

Agreed, had the series had higher stakes than just Alicia getting targeted by Liz' followers every encounter, I feel like the characters could have had more time to shine. But oh well
