Nah, I prefer monarchy to democracy, especially during that period in history. Sure monarchy wouldn't make sense in terms of modern technology because the ruler would be able to declare war on anyone they want, but in the medieval age, monarchy was definitely the way to go

Varys is a great answer by Kit Harrington. Idk if this is said in the show, but in the books there's a scene where Varys says that his main goal is to support the seven kingdoms and its people by supporting rulers he believes will be most beneficial to them. When he says that he "serves the realm" he really means it, its not just a political statement.

***** Yeah, he's solely responsible for the safety of the realm. He's one of the very few grounded people who was reminded of his duty by his most loyal subject. Not only that but he's actually trying to help the north by ridding them off the Boltons and reinstating the Stark as the "ruling" house in the North, which would stabilize the realm further. So no, he's far from insane, he knows what he's doing and while it's very risky at every turn, it has to be done.

I would love for Dany, accompanied by Tyroin and Varys to sit on the iron throne. But I think it will most likely end up being Jon Snow, who is actually a better candidate, I'm just partial to Dany. In a perfect world, they would be King and Queen and rule together.
