  • A common myth is to think when Gr Yaris AWD overheat is the ITCC and rear diff but the when I have AWD over heat symptoms on track
    the fact is
Is the front transfer case overheat as u can see
    On temperature sticker
And the grippers the tire will create more heat on that
Even with GR under stray seen not enought if u want do 5 back to back lap

Hello sir. Are you sure it’s coming from the front case unit ? We have completely different development for the rear case. We had several AWD failures on BilsterBerg a track in Germany. We designed a small plastic unit which forces air from underneath to the rear Diff, as there is a temp sensor right above the exhaust pipe. After installing we had no awd failures anymore. Maybe you want give it a try ?

Many people have also wrapped the exhaust near the rear diff to reduce heat transfer with good results. It also helps running in track mode.

As far as I know the only place where temperatures are measured is in the rear diff or clutch pack. Warning comes at around 100 degrees or so, Syvecs says. The transfer probably can get hotter but that probably won’t bring up the 2wd mode.

My brother Test drove one in 30/70. Kept out of boost but did take corners aggressively. He got hit with the overheat warning. Sti this is not and he doesn’t want another golf r. Told em to wait. Maybe one day Toyota will address this issue. But for now, considering the overheating rear and the fact that this thing seriously has worse top end than a 4 cylinder. He’s gonna wait it out. See what’s what next year. Very disappointing

and where is the fakt that this was the Front LSD?

The front transfer case gets extremely hot because it is direct drive, no differential inside. Also it’s really small with less than 500ml fluid capacity :( I’m not sure why they didn’t go a little larger. It’s so well known that diffs in FR cars with 900ml fluid capacity are very reliable, why save 1kg to reduce yaris diffs so much…

Also I had my awd system say overheat many times when using the hand brake for U turns. Im not sure why, but on track it didn’t overheat.

Those tyres are way too wide, hence the overheating
