    Another interesting and well produced video - thanks for sharing! A few comments… (of course!) Firstly, if the Mac and Cheese was all I had and I had flooded it I would have turned it out in the pan and let it ‘reduce’ over the burner for a few minutes to evaporate off the excess moisture 🤔 Also a couple of hacks from other Trangia mini users, one was an old chap who drilled a hole in the pointy bits of the windshield and then put steel wires through he had got from an old cooker - he cut them to size, bent one end as a ‘lock’ and one he bent a V into so the other could fit through and lock it. (Friction lock). He then used it to sit his Stanley pot on and boil water - worked a treat! The other hack was from a Geologist/mountain biker called Luke who lives in Spain - love his videos! He uses the bottom of a beer can cut with the base bit cut out too to fit over the jets on the burner… it damps the flame and fits nicely inside the mini windshield… worth a look? 🤷‍♀️? 👍🙌😁

      Yes, you're absolutely right about the way to do a Mac'n'rescue, Amanda. This time I lost all interest in it and since I knew I was heading home I just chalked it up as a lost cause. Those hacks is definetely worth a look. Cheers!

    The macaroni cheese "soup" didn't look too good, sadly, I don't blame you for not eating it.
    If you're taking requests, could you make Welsh cakes on yout Trangia? They're a sweet, scone like cake that you can cook in a frying pan or griddle. They're made traditionally on a "bake stone", which is a cast iron flat pan, over a fire, and served with butter and sometimes, jam too.
    I've made them before, and put all the dry ingredients in a bag, then added milk and an egg at camp.
    They're delicious, ideally washed down with a mug of tea.
    Please feel free to ignore this suggestion!

      I hadn't heard of those befor so I had to google them and I'm intrigued. I always enjoy to broaden my cooking horizon aswell as a challenge so I'll put them on my "to-do list". Thanks for the suggestion Sarah. Cheers!

    As ALWAYS and excellent video....We always carry a titanium cup between us with side graduations for water/etc quantity...but even then we find that instructions can be 'sloppy' and 'imprecise'. For popcorn, leave out the butter initially and then the oil does not begin to burn even at high temperature (use a high temp oil) and at end throw in butter and salt and dark brown sugar and stand for about 3 minutes while butter, salt and sugar amalgamate....WOO HOO....lol....Thank you for your video, stay well, stay safe...Helen with Kat and Terri with Robyn.

      I usually have some kind of measuring tool too, but this time I thought I could do without... so Murphy kicked my behind. I never got in to the sugery popcorn thing, but for those that do I think your recipe could be magic. Cheers Gals!

    I usually have maybe 2/5 the amount of oil and a mix of 2/3 rapeseed and 1/3 olive oil (no butter) but it's down to personal taste of course. Good work on the proper amount of kernels! I would've overfilled for sure. 😅 The second shot of the mac'n'cheese looked a tiny bit better, I probably would've eaten it, so don't be so hard on yourself. 🥰 It was great experiencing another visit with you to the woods, been having fever for a week, so been locked inside. The intro music for some reason reminded me of '70:s TV-series like maybe "Rockford tar över" (The Rockford files), hehe. I loved most of them in the same genre, so it was a perfect start!

    I'm sure you would have eaten the mac and cheese if you were hungry lol. I have never thought of popcorn in the trangia but I will remember that for the future. Its great that other people share ideas with you by challenging you. Great video thank you very much 😊

      Yeah, if I had been on an overnighter or longer and didn't have anything else I would surely done so, or even possibly eaten it in the current stage. This time, I just got pissed off and discarded it, but the popcorn was good :)

    It's a good thing your spoon is a ladle! That's about the only way you'd get it out of the bag if you were going to eat it. Glad you left that part in. Love your take on writing instructions, too.

    I looooove popcorn cooked over fire. My suggestion - not asked for - nix the rapeseed oil and butter and just use olive oil (more than you’d think necessary). If you’re really courageous, add brown sugar just as it starts to pop for what is called “kettle corn.” YMMV. Well done!

    • @RedswedeOutdoors
      @RedswedeOutdoors  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Now I'm intrigued, Peter, maybe I have to try it... Why courageous? Due to taste or the risk of having "sugar burns" in the pot? Cheers!

    • @PeterPeadar
      @PeterPeadar 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RedswedeOutdoors risk of burning. It’s one of those operations that might take a few try’s. Alternatively, skip the sugar and sprinkle your popped corn with your favorite hot sauce. A brown paper bag makes it easy to combine popcorn and sauce then shake the bag to distribute evenly. Good content!

    Good to know that it is best to restrict the Trangia burner heat also for pop corn. Your facial expressions were kind of funny with runny macaroni cheese stuf. I would be more disappointed with not enough water to dehydrate the food
    As measuring cup a small Wildo folding kuksa is about 2.5 dl as unbreakable one excellent. I also use inside Trangia burner a 30 ml medicine cup. Both are handy in darker lighting.
    Pop corn outings or whatever getting in the teeth is nasty uncomfortable yes.

    • @RedswedeOutdoors
      @RedswedeOutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      LOL, Jarmo. I guess I don't have much of a poker face. I will bring some kind of measurment cup the next time I'm doing dehydrated food, that's for certain. Cheers!

  • @chado_outdoors
    @chado_outdoors 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Next time, squeeze the pouch into the pot with some water and boil it down (or pour it into the pot and cook it down if not making popcorn, too 😉 ). That will let the starches from the pasta help you thicken it. How do you like the Aeropress? I bought one quite a while back, but never seem to use it. I'm not a popcorn eater, but the occasional bit all buttery and salty like at the theater is worth the aggravation of getting it stuck in my throat 😂

    • @RedswedeOutdoors
      @RedswedeOutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I guess I could have done it after the popcorn too. The Aeropress makes good coffee, but small cups. I prefer my usual cowboy coffee, but it works for the mini set-up since it saves some space in the pack. Not my first choice but a good runner up. Cheers Chad!

    Why on god’s green earth would that company put three fill lines inside the Mac and cheese bag? One should suffice and avoid any confusion. That’s just bad design, not user error. And good luck getting the kernel shells out of your teeth. I know, I hate that too!!!
