I didn't realise that this kind of skillet was a novelty for so many since it's by no means uncommon in Sweden. I'll will add the name and brand to the description if you're really interested in finding one for yourself. Cheers!
Thanks for the review! I came across these on Amazon, it seems they're easily available in the US now but hard to find reviews. This was very helpful to see it in action.
I love the harmony of the deep red pan, vibrant lingonberries and the brilliant color of the pork belly! Masterful. I will take your advice and head to the Swedish Embassy..er, I mean Ikea for some lingonberry jam haha
Thank you. Happy hunting at the 'Embassy', and if you want to act like a true swede it's mandatory to also get a big pack of tea lights and napkins that you didn't know you needed on arrival, LOL. Cheers!
Thanks for the information Chris. You're right that it's a sensation in a way. If one expext that it tastes like most other jams you're in for a surprise. Cheers!
Simple dish but one of my absolute favorites. Getting severe cravings again! 🤤 Edit: My best frying pan at home mainly for meats is a De Buyer carbon steel pan. Carbon steel seems to really benefit the Maillard effect.
Thank you for another great video. I will have to try to find a skillet like yours. The folding handle is great for saving space. The cutting board is a great idea.
Thank you Zach! With 20/20 hindsight I've realized that I should have included the name and brand in the description. I have corrected that mistake now. I think this pan has a lot of potential and I will try it out with different stoves to see what's the best match, at least for me. Cheers!
Happy New Year to you from a warm and wet Malaysia. Nice to see you out and about again. Love the new skillet; something about the sheer practicality of the Skandi cookware👍. I've been using the Norwegian Eagle Products pan and kettle this last couple of years and they're pretty bulletproof although impossible to get out here, so I got mine from Ray Mears' Bushlore in the UK. Looking forward to your 2024 adventures . Take care and stay safe .........and warm ! ATVB 🇲🇾
Hey, I remember that recipe! Definitely a winner!! Great minds think alike; I have been looking playing with mine for a couple of months now. Mine has a beech handle so not as neat but no pan banging. All the best for a great winter my friend.
Thank you my friend! I haven't decided on the handle yet but probably it comes down to what is avalible on the forest floor. All the best for the coming seasons!
First of all, it's good to see you again after the holidays. Well I have been around a bit in my time and it was nice to see something new from you. That hunters frying pan looks a great bit of kit. Never seen one before. You had a little bit of an issue to begin but you can tell by looking at it that it will serve you well for years to come. It will be interesting to see if it works well with the trangia triangle also. Thank you again for another enjoyable video 😊
Yes, I screwed up famously but it can be fixed easily enough and it still worked. Funny you should mention the combo with the triangle, it's almost like you peeked at my filming schedule. Take care Robert. Cheers!
Nice pan! I was looking at some of those pans the other day thinking I should buy one. If you're missing the cold, you can come visit me. I'm out camping in my RV this week. It was -18f/-27c last night and snowing 😂 it's 10f/-12c for a high today and I'm out in the sun cooking lunch on the Trangia 😂
Thank you for the offer, but we're promised -15C, snow and strong wind tomorrow so I think I'm covered. It would be nice to see the Arkansas summer though, do you know what day it's planned this year? ;-) Take care Chad and have a good camping trip. Cheers!
Oh and after the burn in there is no touchable, new coating. The burnt carbon particles from the oil set between spaces in the metal raster and thus making the pan usable.
Lovely simple recipe, looked a nice meal! Your English vocabulary is great 👍 'what not', 'shenanigans', etc. Where did you pick up these very English phrases? Always entertaining...
Thank you Luke! I think that a constant exposure to different media in English, books, TV, movies and music, is to blame. It hasn't succeded to cure my 'Swedish chef-accent' though ;-) Cheers!
@@lukejohnson2548 🤣🤣🤣 In my youth I always identified myself as Animal, being a drummer and all. Not sure if this is a step up or down. LOL. I sure hope I can dodge Miss Piggys karate chops though.
Can you carve a removable wooden stop for the hollow end of the pan handle, to stop it scratching the pan? You could use a spurtle (its a scottish "stick" that you use as a stirring tool), though they may not be a thing in Sweden!
I've never heard of a spurtle before you mentioned it Sarah. I looked it up and ended up with a history lesson and the knowledge that there is a World Championship in porridge making, so now I absolutely have to make myself a spurtle. Maybe not right away and maybe not for the pan, since I've decided from the start to carve myself a proper handle for it when the weather turns more pleasant, but a spurtle is on my to-do list as of now. Cheers!
Love your videos and I'm stealing recipes ^^ But please use more heat, less oil and repeat more often. Trust me, I have 3 of those pans in different versions and about a dozen pieces more iron cookware

Good to see a new video from you. You are a very good bushcraft cook. I learned alot from you. Thanks
Thanks Rick, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
I never knew this pan existed but thanks to your video, I was able to order one from Amazon.
I hope you'll like it John. Almost as good as a cast iron skillet but less wheight. Cheers!

Thank you so much, it's good to be back. Cheers!
Hey RS, lingonberry jam can be picked up at IKEA stores in USA for those fans looking for the taste sensation, and/or Amazon and Ebay.
Thanks for the information Chris. You're right that it's a sensation in a way. If one expext that it tastes like most other jams you're in for a surprise. Cheers!

It seems so. It's my first carbon steel pan, I'm more accustomed to cast iron but it sure has a lot of potential. Cheers!

Good video. Like the handle on that pan. You were like a kid at Christmas opening that box. Lol. I prefer to not camp in arctic weather as well.
Yes, I guess I was a bit excited. Had my eyes on this pan for quite some time and I'm looking forward to use it quite a bit. Cheers!
Well glued packaging! LOL Good looking meal - thanks for your videos.
Thank you Greg! Yep, that box didn't open by it self. Cheers!
Good to see you outdoors again Red! Nice cooking. This is wat you need with these temperatures. Looks very tasty! Grtz. from Henk
Thanks Henk, it's good to be out again. Cheers!
Wow! My mouth was watering watching your video. Have a great year. I’m looking forward to more of your cooking sessions.
Thank you Martin. I hope there will be lots of outdoor cooking for the coming year. Cheers!
New video from Redswede, happy times! 😍
Thank you!

Same to you Razif! I'm all for bulletproof outdoor gear. They'll see a lot of wear and tear. Cheers!
Ah yes another great video my man
Thanks mate, cheers!
that looks soooo good
Thanks Mate! Cheers!
I got one of those pans a couple of years ago for Christmas. I felt I had joined a special club 😂 they even fit quite well on a trangia 27.
If no such club exist it should be formed right away mate. I havent checked if it fits on the T25, could be an idea actually... Cheers!
Hejsan would be great to see how you season your new kit in the future. Great video as always.
Thank you. Since I have to do it again anyways I might aswell catch it on video. Cheers!

Japp, fungerar till det mesta när annan sylt är för söt.
Oh and after the burn in there is no touchable, new coating. The burnt carbon particles from the oil set between spaces in the metal raster and thus making the pan usable.
I made a mess of things there. I think a fresh start on the seasoning should do the trick. Cheers!
That looks excellent! I have the same pan, I must get a bag for it (I have seen them on Etsy). Happy new year to you and yours.
Thank you! I couldn't be arsed to look for a bag in the right size so I just made one in canvas. Cheers!
