She's just such an inspiration to young and old alike! and she fixes her own stuff too. that hug with her Dad at the end there? Priceless. He hasta be incredibly proud of her.
Hi Laura thank you so much for producing these videos and giving someone like me the chance to catch a glimpse of your adventure. I would love to go sailing on an adventure like yours but at over retirement age it seems just a dream. Thanks again for your inspiration.
Diep respect!
I love these videos! They don't have the production value of some of the "modern" youtube channels, but they are so much more down-to-earth and without all the bullshit of the recent youtube years
I have utter respect for what you have done . I am 73 and on my circumnavigation, 21 years so far. I often think have I bitten off more than I can chew but keep going. After seeing your film and what you went through at a young age i would feel embarrassed if i quit now. I left Whangarei for New Caledonia and got beaten up badly including having to cut away my inner foresail and rigging after it collapsed in a f8+. Diverted to Fiji where i am now and hope to leave for Vanuatu in a week or so. You are an inspiration to us all. Ian Fowler
Laura, what I like most in your videos is the parts of the video showing just the sea, sound of the wind and the waves, makes me feel like i am on board the Guppy
i love all your stuff. simple, honest, forward moving and always with a glint of hope to grease it all. so sorry you had to live with your boat eventually being trashed by others. but i think your greatest blessing was being so fortunate to have had a father like your Dad. what a gift in so many ways. i hope your sense of teamwork continues to grow with Sander.
Very inspiring. I just love the realism in your videos and knowing it was before everyone focused so much on TH-cam followers makes it even more worth watching.
Just getting around to seeing this! Thank you for sharing. Amazing to watch someone single hand a boat like this and on a trip like this. Then you realize the reality that the captain is a 15-16 year old. GREAT job!!!
What a remarkable young woman. Good she went to Darwin, a boat friendly place which was perfect and is not spoiled yet by super large Uber rich marinas. We have heard all about Darwin’s famous sand bar parties. The out of water boat repair was very innovative. These sailing videos show you there is never a trip where something doesn’t need repair or go wrong. Thinking outside the box is the only way to go as there is no crying when sailing.
Laura, you have a wonderful father! But then, you know that! Wonderful he told you it would be good if you sailed it back to Holland from Lowestoft!!!!!!!!!! What a guy! Next around the world!!!
Great that dad made it out for a visit. That would’ve been so uplifting. Looking for to completing the series. I’m enjoying it. Watching from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 😊🎉
hello Laura, thanks for this Video - i can see now much more then around 10years before in your blog - thumbsUP :-) 12:00 smile, but you was 100% tired.... as/IF i remember correct, on this passage (around in the middle of the ocean) you switched off your daily position info... my best regards from austria - and i hope, that many from the "old" community find your YT-Channel ;-)
Thank You Laura to share these moments during your journey, I love to watch these videos. Waiting for more pleasant stories from the past and present as well.
I did follow ur journey years ago, but i still love to see these videos, its such an inspiration. The filming was done very well, u get a real sence of the ocean. #next
Hi Laura I love the video's and I'm forever impressed by your accomplishment, I'm dutch but emigrated to Canada in 1993 and when you had your battle with the dutch authorities I only got snippets of what was going on. I am truly sorry for what you and your dad had to go through and it makes me ashamed to be dutch, the way the authorities and the media portrayed you and your dad was incredibly wrong and plain mean spirited. You proved them wrong by doing what you were set out to do in glorious fashion and then some, however the dutch pride being proven so disastrously wrong made them ignore you and your achievement rather the celebrate it, to this day they can't seem to get over themselves and again I feel ashamed. I want you to know not all dutch think this way and that you are a icon in my world I have shared your journey with my own 16 year old daughter who is also wonderfully autonomas for her age. Last I want to give a mayor compliment to your dad for recognizing your talents passion and independence while supporting and nurturing it. Letting you go on such a treacherous endeavour by yourself took a lot of courage on his part and that must have been the longest 366 days of his live.
@ekim andersom "Judge not lest ye be judged..." Brilliant unselfish parent - what a strong charactered person he has produced - inspiring - in my books that is a SUCCESSFUL parent - shld've had a DOZEN more kids...
Jip, love it! Well done Girl! Keep up the good work. Greetings and Love from South Africa. Hope you can visit us again some time. Would love to meet you. Your blind friend
I've been trying to find maidenship and can't find it. Both Prime and Netflix said they had it but they DON'T. Ugh. Laura I would happily purchase some type of digital download if you have one. I also want to purchase your book. I wish you had an audio version of the book.
Great videos! Really interesting and a great mix of sailing, good times, boat issues and navigation. I followed your journey back then being Dutch but it’s fantastic to see some footage of it. Please keep posting more videos. I subscribed :). Take care.
Watching your journey is so wonderful. What you did is so inspiring and can't wit to see your trip to and around South Africa, (that is where I am from). Really enjoy the videos.
That sand at 10:11 might be the infamous "pumice explosions" from underwater volcano's ? It isn't good for engines ect. Which kind of map or chart was that at 20:03 ? Your english was perfect !
,I remeber you, sailing in Wijk bij Duurstede with your dog than on the bow. I guess you was 10 or 12 years old than. My compliments, tremendous what you did..
That was cool you skipped the dangerous places such as Somali Sea and Malacca Strait, but still you are a brave girl. I watched your videos, very inspirational. You did this with minimal equipment. There are lot to learn from you.
Who needs a sweet 16 is you can have a salt 16. Badass all the way! Your dad must have have a hard time letting you go again. As brave as you are for doing this alone, your parents are brave for letting their girl go and do it. Great trust! 🙏🏻❤️
Wonderfull. I cannot imagine a dad that is more proud of his daughter than your dad or a daughter that has more reason to be proud of her dad.
We were in Darwin almost at the same time in the nineties!!!! Awesome
She's just such an inspiration to young and old alike! and she fixes her own stuff too. that hug with her Dad at the end there? Priceless. He hasta be incredibly proud of her.

The Cape of Good hope is hardly easy, either! That was the toughest part of her circumnavigation. And she crossed the WHOLE Indian ocean in one hop.
I also dreamed about that.👍👍👍
