Ich habe im Februar 2024 zufällig das Interview mit Laura Dekker in der Süddeutschen Zeitung gelesen und mir daraufhin in der Badischen Landesbibliothek Karlsruhe das "ganz, ganz tolle Buch" ausgeliehen und bin total fasziniert von der Courage und vom Können eines 15/16 jährigen Mädchens. Bei meiner derzeit gleichaltrigen Enkelin (eine sehr gute Reiterin) kann ich mir ein solches Wagnis absolut nicht vorstellen.

These are the parts where I was a bit scared for your sake. When you went off to some other people's boat when they invited you, and I guess didn't share the information that they're not going back to where your boat is. Most people in the world are somewhat kind and willing to help, but it only takes one really bad person for something really bad to happen to a young woman who is travelling alone. I'm so glad nothing like that happened!

i really like your story and videos. i am not a sailor, so it is a peak into another world that i would not get to have if it was not for this electronic way of people communicating with such things as videos. sailing is such a beautiful activity but is not something that i would seek to do for myself - yet i really am enjoying the ability to be a little bird on your shoulder. i found you from watching other people's videos about sailing. but i kept moving from one set of videos to another set because i would get tired of the people. they always seem to prop up themselves as these totally happy people that are out there doing their dream adventure that you are supposed to support by sending them money. and while they are out there doing their 'happy life' they are openly drinking their life away. i get really tired of them demonstrating to me their 'rum and coke' drinks and their beers and so forth. if they are so 'happy' why do they need all that alcohol in order to feel good and be happy? HowEver - You and Your story has such a more seemingly valid sense of life purpose and life exploration. plus you are much more about SHARING it rather than being out there bragging about it. THEN... also... when you ARE asking for money, it is so that you can Improve the lives of Children! so i am just trying to say that i Appreciate your more wholesome sense of shared values that are demonstrated by how and why you are living your life. Although knowing myself back then when I was your age, I wouldnt make past Adriatic due to mostly fear, loneliness and all other teenage problems I had back then. Thank you :) I have been giving presentations about my solo journey and other journeys as well. Of course the way I see my journey now has changed over time and I will tell about that in my presentations as well. I did think about writing a second book, but with all the work going on at the moment I have not found the time. I will consider giving a more personal reflection on my travels sometime ;)
Just how alone were you? From what I understand, you were followed by someone in a larger boat. That is rather like walking a high wire, with a net. Were you ever in any real danger??
@@garyjohnson4657 I was completely alone, there was no follow boat nor a team waiting for me in ports. I had no internet on board either, so when something turned to custard I could not ask for help and was solely responsible for making it out again myself.
I remember following Jessica Watson, completing her voyage; than there was Abby Sunderland who was lost at sea and thank goodness she was rescued. After that I followed your blogs and always admired how you made the most out of your voyage exploring different places. You had such courage(still do I'm sure☺). I wish you the best for any future voyages and endeavors that you are planning for, once we are out of these turbulent times😵

I was delivering a 50fter up to Hawaai & the mast height as 69 ft above the WL , In Vanuatu it stated on the chart the power lines were 75 ft. so creeping under them at low tide i heard a tink , My aerial touched . phew close call
