  • Want to get the most out of your fertilizer applications? Naturally occurring Humic Acids have special properties that may capture micronutrients and transport them to plants' roots. This fun and informative animation explains how humic acids form and why we add them to most of our Down To Earth blended fertilizers.

    Humic acid water soluble improve the structure of soil; increase the buffering power of soil.
    In light and sandy soils, humic acid increase the cation exchange capability to retain nutrients and water, importantly to magnify the ability of root to take up nutrients. In heavy and compact soils, working with fungi to create a crumb structure for better water oxygen and nutrients intake and improved root penetration.

    Thanks for your sharing, Humic acid had some good effects on the soil of agriculture, as Humic acid promotes the formation of soil aggregate structure, and its essence is the cementation of humic acid to form the aggregate of organic-inorganic complex, which has water stability and force stability; by the way, Humic acid carboxyl group and phenolic hydroxyl group are acidic, with cation exchange performance and complexing ability, can and ammonium ions, alkali metal ions, trace element ions to form soluble, insoluble salt, and different degree of stability of the complex so that the surface tension of the corresponding metal complex is lower than the surface tension of water. The effect of hydrogen bonding greatly improves the solubility of humic acid in the water, and thus improves the water-holding capacity of humic acid in the soil.

    I'm going to watch this again. Great video.
    So, it seems to me that humic acid is more helpful to sandy soils than clay ones... Is that correct?

    • @DownToEarthFertilizer
      @DownToEarthFertilizer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Organic matter is useful for both sandy and clay-based soils for a variety of reasons. In sandy soils, some of the benefits of organic matter is increases in water retention, nutrient exchange, soil oxygen levels, and more. In clay soils, organic matter helps to develop good soil structure, open up the soil profile, increase oxygen levels, and provide improved habitat for other soil flora and fauna.
      Materials that contain high levels of humic acids provide many of the benefits of listed above while being very resistant to further decomposition. This means that they don’t shrink away the way that compost and other fresher materials do throughout the growing season.
      We recommend utilizing fresher organic material like compost for bulk applications and immediate nutrient benefit and using our Granular Humic Acids for building up long term soil quality.
      Thanks for the compliments, glad to hear it was educational!

    I hear humic acid does nothing.

  • @ericbechel4434
    @ericbechel4434 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Humic substances don’t exist in soil. Humic substances come from mixing a highly caustic substance with a low grade coal and the byproduct is humic acid, fulvic acid and the non soluble fraction humin. Soils don’t actually contain these molecules by themselves. I challenge you to find me any evidence of humic substances in soil naturally.

    • @lotti9576
      @lotti9576 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Dr Elaine Ingham. And do occur naturally in good compost. What do you think low grade coal is?
      But you are right that most humic acids on the market are derived with this method.

    • @ericbechel4434
      @ericbechel4434 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes low grade coal is where we derive our humics from but low grade coal and coal were formed completely differently than compost and soil organic matter. Completely different processes.

    O ?...... your a fertiliser company? ..3:55min...i didn't notice the channel name ... now your use of cats is just laughable ... given everything we understand about the problems inputs cause to soils and agriculture generally today (tilling etc) .. how is it that all 65 comments (so far & it being 2020) are of a positive disposition??? ... never mind your ability to provide minerals to plant roots ... i would sieze all your money immediately and your assets and the same goes for all the big chemical input companies and the big agro food farms ... and put it into regenerative agriculture start ups ..its quite surprising how normalised fertilisers are...
