welding points are different too, type R is not just about power, being a heavy front engined car it is has to be much more rigid than the regular civic. most can buy powertrain upgrades but not chassis upgrades within reasonable cost. might as well buy a real type R
Geeeez 7,500rpm change gear and rpm drop to 5,500 rpm then rev up quickly That’s one damn good ecu mapping and the car setup is really good cause it sticks to the corner at high speed and exit at blazing speed!
K series boyz should start to choose more discreet exhaust. Enough with that buzzin Perodua Kancil in straight pipe sound. And also, dig yer pocket deeper and order KW Variant4 for much better comfort.
Hello Uncle, or rather Tito as we address our uncles here in the Philippines. I’m really glad you pointed out how short the gear ratios are in the owner’s build as I can tell how much you’ve wanted each gear to last from your throttle-happy inputs haha. I’ll be taking this video as reference since me and my dad plan to K24 swap our Honda Civic FD which currently runs on a 5 speed automatic K20 (transmission swap as well). As always, I love your straightforward reviews, though I’m kind of sad for the lack of the footwork cam haha.
@@bevis90 The Civic FD2R was never sold here in the Philippines as we are primarily a left-hand drive country. I believe there's only one legitimate Civic FD2R here that was imported but even so, it's still cheaper to do a K24 swap especially with a sequential since we're just doing a track build.
Just like a sifu imparting knowledge to us as students. Having a good ride isnt having a more powerful engine with the right balance. Usage powerband, good suspension that conforms to the roads (not hardcore yet not pure street driving) and proper brakes to regulate speeds makes the driver more confidant to just drive and go all out sometimes. Having lesser of anything greatly cause the car not to have balance, thus less of a fun car to drive.
@@danialz3468 yes you can see the car jump a lot of times. It could also be to the fact that the tyres hit the fender causing vibrations. Driver bouncing is fine but the car shouldn't - could cause part damage too
Hello Uncle Khong, am currently doing some fixes for my 190E. Hasn't been up to Genting since getting the car. Would you be interested to bring it up sometime next year? haha :D
Man...Public hillclimb section with nobody hassling you about having a little fun. Most of us can only dream about it or stress about getting locked up -.- Might have to look into Malaysia opportunities lol The K is particularly ferocious with such close ratios. Tough to modulate, especially on bumpy road. Makes it go uphill really well though.
@@YSKhongDriving Small island of French Polynesia. There are very limited opportunities to have a little fun. People do here and there and there are obviously times more suitable for it but it is always quite risky, not only because of authority but also road conditions, bicycles, stray dogs and stuff. It's very complicated. Bigger countries have isolated roads that make it ok but most of the western world is so highly regulated. If you did this sort of thing in pretty much all countries I've been to, especially in broad daylight with traffic around, people would call the cops on you in no time. I'm glad to see you don't get this sort of heat. It says a lot about the overall mentality there. I'm guessing people tend mind their own business. Basically they are built on the same chassis - but I suspect the R would have some additional bracing or reinforcements or closer welds - all can be done if you know where and what to do. It is certainly one way to get an affordable performance car. However, lately it seems the price of the FD2R has dropped significantly, so it might be easier to just buy one outright; and a real unit will hold its value better.
I tjink there are some xhassis differences but if you know how to do it you can beef up your chassis too. Noting of course that the R was built on the same basic chassis, so all additional work were add ons.
@raven7442 whatt?? Bro short final drive should run much faster uphill even with stock fd fd2r or dc5r otherwise its equiped gb from cl9 6 speed. u cant spin me bro 🤣
@@CeeQueLieit’s actually not faster if u use a short final drive for Coners especially up hills like genting whenever a sharp coner comes up u can wack but after u must shift ur gear cuz of short ratio gear which will make the rpm and tq drops while the long final drive 4.7 u can js wack the coner since u can tarik more and ur rpm stays at 7-8k which gives u a higher tq if u say coner roads like ulu yam yes but genting nah i drive too ik
