    The ensemble on display is at the highest most elite artistic level. To play like this with no one on attendance is remarkable.

      Mikyung Sung with Jaemin Shin is another performance with no audience, though played as if there were one, that is spectacular. I find it more magical, intense, affecting, and musically coherent than this performance (from both musicians).
      Plus, it is played very beautifully on double bass, which is a feat, but perhaps more appropriate than might be imagined. It is thought that this sonata might have been conceived first for cello (for which Franck did later endorse a transcription), and though the double bass naturally sounds an octave lower than a cello, this bass performance is played an octave higher up the fingerboard, so may be at the same pitch as a cello performance. But the sound has greater resonance, fullness and depth of tone, and intensity.

      I would say that this Franck Violin Sonata, is so touching, captivating and to me it is the most beautiful sonata for violine and piano, especialy,played by this two amazing artists.I'm so happy and can' t wait for Martha's coming to Belgrade,in July ,giving a concert to Kolarac Foundation,tickets already bought ,the first day of their selling,feel so unreal to be close to such a wonderful woman,pianist,and her vitality..Looking forward to attending the concert.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Love you Martha and God bless you.

    This is such a strong rendition - a ray of light through the darkness of our times - I'm a total admirer of Martha's and it's so wonderful to see and listen to her play! She is a legend!!! I'm totally in love with her magical performances!

  • @MichalSingr

    This was the most touching, honest and the most beautiful rendition I've ever heard. Espetially thanks to the skilled, wise pianist for not overplaying the parts and stay humble and crisp at the core parts, this suits to this music so well.
    At the end, I realised that there is no audience in the place... so sad. But don't despair, there is real audience , still.

    • @matthewv789
      @matthewv789 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You might also enjoy Mikyung Sung with Jaemin Shin (which also happens to have been without audience but played as if there was one). The most magical of performances I know. (Though Noa Wildschut comes close, but that’s because I suspect she closely copied Mikyung’s interpretation.)

      @@matthewv789 Also Vadim Repin and Nikolai Lugansky. Their playing has an energy, fluidity and naturalness that's hard to find in other interpretations. And, although not so forceful as the two russians or Capuçon and Argerich, Augustin Dumay and Maria João Pires is well worth a listen.

      L esegesi la lascerei ai testi sacri e la geografia ad altro contesto dove è richiesta...
      Crede davvero di avere monopolio della cultura?..

      @@lorettacurzi8655Io nom credo di avere ol monopolio di nulla: esegesi è intesa in senso di interpretazione critica, vale anche per un contesto musicologo quando si commenta un'esecuzione. In merito alla geografia non saprei: è lei che ha scritto aLgerich, con la elle al posto della erre. Vista la grande attenzione verso l'acconciatura magari ne userei un po' anche per scrivere il nome...
      Comunque era un messaggio condito dell'ironia, nulla di personale.

      When asked about Schubert's "divine lengths", Liszt mused: "I fall asleep, it is true... but when I awake, I am enchanted."

      @@ziploc6354 wow ziploc, that is interesting. and i hear how it relates to this rendition. i hear this rendition as an introvert's performance. i don't relate to the character i hear portrayed here personally, but I feel I have a defined (thanks to the performers) sense of them.
