I can't thank you enough for the upload. I haven't seen this game in almost 35 years. For the 16:49 of your video i was 9 years old again with my sisters, my parents and my uncle alive again. All of us button bashing, shouting and laughing. Amazing memories. Thank you again mate.
@@Tenraiden It's so nostalgic. I can still remember the early 80's decor my mum and dad had at the time. I was so young with not a care in the world. Sorry mate, I'm rambling, I am so glad that it's taken you back to that time too. Bless.
Gawd I remember this game. Many a keyboard pounded and joystick broken to win. It does hold a lot of nice nostalgic memories for me, especially that little tune that plays before each event.
Takes me back to a care free time, the joysticks used to get a real hammering in these running games. Wiggle as fast a you can to go quicker 🤣. Some great nostalgia.
Ha, that why we got an adaptor accessory to programme a joystick, frustrating in itself. If you dangle the joystick upside down & wiggle it side to side real fast the speeds you could acheive were far better than by hand.
@@BionicRasta just get an sjs-1 joystick, it ended up becoming so loose so easily, that you could just hold the base of the joystick and shake it to make "the little man on the screen run at inhumane speeds"
@@windowsxpnt2347 I think thats what i had or maybe an sjs-2. I recall having to plug the adapter into the console & the joystick into that. Then you program it by holding it in each postition so it memories it. It took a few goes tho as buggy.
Watching the Athletics Championships on TV tonight as it's in Glasgow (where I'm from). Was trying to work out why I was loving it so much when the penny dropped....it's basically the live version of THIS! My favourite zxspectrum game when I was little!!!! Brilliant video, brought back so many fun memories ❤
My best mate was a bit heavy handed playing this and must have broke 5 rubber keyboards. Pretty much one of my earliest experiences playing ‘next level’ computer games after pong.
Re. the description to this video, “Daley put on his white skin to stay in this olympic sports game for the spectrum” … it’s just occurred to me all these years later that although the titular 1980s sporting legend appears on the loading screen of this game (as er, a grey man) he is just the owner of this decathlon - the ringleader if you will - and the white sports players in the gameplay are avatars of you and your two mates. If you need conclusive proof for this beyond their names and skin colour, look closely and you will notice that they are all lacking moustaches! Mind: blown!

Same. Miss my uncles and watching them geek out over these new computer things

Lots of arthritis coming out 35 years later because of this gem.
I remember the cheers sound, back then I had no speakers. I was just a hissing sound from the bottom right of the keyboard. 😃 ⌨️

A mate snapped my Quickshot II joystick playing this back in the day lol.

The game that broke my spectrum's keyboard, amazing!
Forget your keyboard, the 1500m broke me!

I think it was N and M and space bar to to do the action.😊
The sounds and the graphics! A welcome nostalgic trip to one of my all time favourite Spectrum games.

Sad that the gingerbread men in the stadium get machine-gunned after every event.
😂😂😂
That’s the funniest comment I’ve read on TH-cam - 😂😂😂😂😂
Lol I can think of nothing else now!
The amount of springs I had to replace in my quickshot joystick because of this game was unbelievable.
Should’ve included the sounds of button bashing or joystick waggling for that totally immersive experience.
The Quickshot turbo II in red.... aaaah
lol, good point, I was tempted to include my frantic button sounds in our review!!!
My fingers still know when to press jump lol 30 plus years later

The 1500m was brutal.
I don’t remember the graphics and scrolling to be so bad. Also it’s clear the graphics and sound was done by the programmers lol
Parallax scrolling was pretty ahead of its time though, to be fair.
Thank god for those rubber keys!!! 😅
I broke quite a few joysticks with this game
I used to own this on my spectrum years ago.
Never realised until i watched this what an amazing rip off of track and field it is 🤣
Is that miner willy in the crowd on the left hand side of the Ocean banner?
It is, isn't it, well spotted

Mind: blown!
I still remember the pain this game caused, we played it on keyboard and it never broke .)
The 1500m was masterful, that's where I always failed as an 8 year old!
Tapping those keys as fast as I could lol those were the day's
Same, we really enjoyed reviewing this one.
Wow how times have changed
Best way to do it. A piece of paper over z and x. then just finger.......like your girlfriend just got back into town.
Game is very quiet without the frantic bashing of keys
Same, we really enjoyed reviewing this one. Should have included the bashing sounds in ours.
Que recuerdos... Gracias
Shouldn't there be a shoe selection screen?
Spectators sound like they’re getting machine gunned, fun game
400 metres was the toughest.
Pole Vault and Discus are the wrong way around in Decathlon order. Great game though!
Best to use the joystick instead of hammering the keyboard
What a game
i dident have this but did have sunnergames on c64 have broke a lot of joysticks on it
oh, btw, Daley Thompson was not white.
No shit
Not much gets past you 'lightning' does it!
He wasn't made of pixels either.
Machine gun crowd😂
El auténtico "destroza" "O", "P"
Repetitive strain injury for 13 yr olds 😂
Walking
Did the audience just get shot
By machine gun fire. No the audience in this game suffered from electric shock or something.
God these games were shit 😂😂
Yes. Compared with today's games, which will also be shit one day. However it was all we had and we hadn't mastered time-travel like you kids of today.
