This, and Lords Of Midnight, always struck me as the great design and technological achievements of the Speccy. They both create a living, breathing sandbox world. Their authors had such clarity of vision to realise that the very humble Spectrum could achieve such incredible goals.
Amazing game. I See this and I'm instantly transported back 35 years. Mind blowing with 48k. The character modelling spot on, and gameplay. First sandbox game? Think that's why I liked it so much. You could kind of do what you want. Plus i got a chance to take out teachers
@Garry Rippon I don't think I'd trust a 15 year olds opinion on much, they've only seriously been playing anything with any depth for 5 years at most lol, they don't have any perspective or understand what makes a game good

I'm only re-doing *some* of my earlier vids which were poor quality, especially the reds and magentas. After a short while I started using better encoding techniques, so the quality improved.
Lol best game back then. Best part, causing a riot :) during dinner keep punching everyone around the dinner table then watch the hoard of kids knocking over the teachers and the other older kids getting lines :). Best game ever
Now *THAT'S* how you play Skool Daze! Cause lots of mayhem and still finish the game - perfect! Loved this and the sequel Bak to Skool. The remake Klass of 99 was cool as well.

I thought if you hit all the shield plaques you completed the game? I remember getting close to doing that lol, watching this though the specy was Deffo better than the comodore 64. The specy lacked in colour but I think it had better animation and more defined lines and was more fun and rebellious.

This game!!!! I LOVED IT! Also the Dizzy collections. But SkoolDaze was brilliant. It was the Bully with the Mumps i hated. Also, i managed you load up the source code and changed some stuff. i had loads of bullies, done away with the mumps. Mr whacker got sacked and the lines were all %50 I know i know... Cheating. It was fun tho! Thanks for this video man. :)
It seems like for some reason The Tearaway is named "Boy Wander" in the Spectrum version and "Boy Wonder" in the C64 version. I wonder why this is the case. Boy Wander doesn't really make sense to me. I wonder (no pun intended) if it was a correction for the 64 version.
I found this game rock hard back as a 9yr old! Fuckin loved it though... Would spend time knocking out the girls and the teachers! And swearing on the blackboards! Riding the bike fast enough to stand up on it and jump over the wall into the girls school... 😜
narcissusdark As I explained above there are subgames......There are not all random and their triggers are things like answering questions or beating the school bully....

Tiny playing area, incessantly repeated messages, crap animation, basic gameplay, numbskull tasks (use teachers' heads as a means of bouncing peashooter projectiles at shields on a wall? what?), maddeningly repetitive sound. Christ, 43 minutes of this drivel, for a total anticlimax. You would resort to writing nonsense on the blackboards purely out of boredom. The only success of this game is that it accurately shows the incredible tedium of being at school.
