  • In this video I show how I made a survival knife, using car spring leaf. This knife is very useful in survival situations, containing a saw and very sharp blades.
    In this channel you will find videos dedicated to the manufacture of: knife, miniatures, tools, machines, among others.

    People who have never made knives can not fully appreciate what you did here basically by hand with absolutely minimal tooling. Bravo.

    Way late to finding your forge vid. Good stuff!
    As you're a blacksmith would you say the attraction of the (Tom Brown designed) tracker knife a-la-The Hunted movie fame is how it combines the advantages of a tomahawk or hatchet, to that of a knife?
    Frankly I'm shocked Mr. Brown never patented his design since literally every reputable knife manufacturer big or small has a variant of his knife.

      My friend, good that you are getting better, I am happy. So I am from Brazil, to send a knife like this to you I think it is a little expensive, what is more viable is if you buy it on a website, there are great sites with good prices and different models of knives, try to search, search for "knife tracker" that you will find, ok? A big hug for you.

    Which steel is better ? Bro
    5160 spring leaf or 52100 bearing steel
    Plzz reply bro

    • @MakerHA
      @MakerHA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, it depends on what the material is going to be applied to. What I can tell you are some features and it is up to you to decide which one to use. the 5160 in relation to the 52100 is easier to forge, since it has less amount of carbon which makes it more malleable than the other. However, if the 52100 heat treatment is done correctly, you can achieve a much greater hardness, also because of the amount of carbon present in it. The fact that both are carbon steels they will rust, but as the 52100 has a higher% of chromium which helps in the non-oxidation. So, there are other advantages of each other, you just have to decide where to use it, but if you are not very experienced and intend to use these knife steels I advise you to start with the 5160, as it is easier to work with he. the 52100 you will get better results but it is already more work. I hope I helped, anything just talk. Thank you.

    2. Баланс слабоват (рукоять слишком массивна либо клинок маловат).

    • @MakerHA
      @MakerHA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Спасибо за комментарий.
      1 - Форма лимина облегчает использование в условиях выживания. Хорошо работает как мини-топор для резки дерева, на лезвии есть угол, где вы можете делать стружку, чтобы зажечь огонь, на задней части пилы, не очень удобно, но в зависимости от ситуации это полезно, и деталь зажечь огонь кремнем. Так что это отличный нож для кемпинга и тому подобного.
      2 - Баланс хороший, хорошо отцентрирован, лезвие и трос не слишком много весят. Но результатом остался доволен.
