  • Body armor can't stop a 50 BMG, right? Right? We shoot the Predator Armor Level III+ body armor with a 50 BMG to see what it will do. This is the most common comment we see. So we thought we would finally give you an answer. Check it out and see what happens.

    Even if you survive a shot from .50 cal, you'll wish you hadn't.

    It would be interesting to see in an NIJ test what Backface would be present with 50 BMG at 200 yards :D

      The hardened steel plates do not have much back face deformation. They don't really have much give to them, if you will, to allow any significant backface deformation. Even with the 50 BMG you can see it is not significant. What would be really interesting is to track the amount of energy transfer through the plate to the object behind. We are still working on a way to accurately test something along those lines.

      @predatorarmor very happy with ya'lls lvl 3 multicurve plates, I have a carrier to go along with it anyway to mitigate spaul besides a sleeve? Like wrap it in duct tape or something?

    How can 50 Cal. beat a plane but not beat a plate? I understand the idea of steel quality and hardness, but a plane is so thick.

    I'm sure the individual wearing the plate would not have been in a good way. Probably still would have not survived. Even with the best case scenario.

      Im sure your insides would be liquefied along with your skeletal system

      probably more like kicked by a horse. if the fragmentation didnt hit any vitals the concussion would suck but be survivable.

      @Alpha Wolfgang The concussive force alone would be enough not only to break ribs but rupture the air sacks in the lungs. Probably rupture other organs as well. Such as the stomach, pancreas, maybe the kidneys, and spleen. On top of that, the spine would've been injured. Steel plates will, in most cases, not save a life from a large caliber impact. Even if the projectile fails to penetrate. Let's not forget about the fractionation that would definitely rip open the chin, possibly lasersting the arteries in the neck. 0/10 try again.

      @@Raagz i think you are overestimating the amount of energy bullets give.

      @Alpha Wolfgang I think you're underestimating the force of a 50BMG...

      If you drop or fall on ceramic plates and it cracks its ruined. Either has its draw backs.
