what is the difference between 5G and LTEA ? is it only compatible for AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon carrier ?

Would recommend learning more about 5G in our recent cellular industry update: th-cam.com/video/8JaZSWee4Z8/w-d-xo.html

Can an owner of the previous version get an upgraded modem ??

If you are considering a SIM Injector for a Peplink Max BR1 Pro 5g x62 router, forget about it. The Max BR1 Pro 5g x62 DOES NOT have remote SIM injection support, at the hardware level. Since all 5G hardware implementations have a fundamental requirement of short antenna runs, this is a rather puzzling hardware omission.
As we are all aware, long 5G antenna lead runs result in exponential signal loss with 5G. Therefore, the majority of 5G hardware solutions are going to be remote and/or in a hard to access location.
Given that, it would be reasonable to expect that all 5G Cellular Routers would support SIM injection as a basic requirement.
Compound that with Peplink's Marine Antenna Product line, eliminating the Max BR1 5G routers as an option (that can fit in limited spaces on a boat while being expanded to multiple cellular modems with Synergy Mode), and it starts creating a major hole in the marine product line for basic 5G support.

I have two 40G Peplink Maritime antennas. Due to space constraints, a BR2 Pro won’t work but, two BR1 Pro 5G’s in Synergy Mode provide the same support with better space management. The Dome is a non starter as it has nowhere near the range of the 40G Maritime antennas.
IMHO, no 5G cellular router should be released without basic remote physical SIM management due to the aforementioned short antenna run considerations. Furthermore, I t’s a major blindspot in the current Peplink maritime solution.

We expect most new designs going forward will all have RemoteSIM support, but the X62 BR1 Pro 5G is identical to the old design - only with a new modem module.
The lack of this feature is indeed a weak spot.
