I keep thinking that I'll stop being blown away by the levels of care and artistry that go into everything this band does, but I never do. Thank you for again, giving us a peak behind the curtain. This tour has been magic to witness.
I'll be completely honest, whenever I saw or spoke to people who would follow bands all tour I thought to myself that those people are kinda crazy for following them around everywhere....... but then I saw The 1975 last night in Boston and I have to say I can see how people would want to watch this over and over again. I don't think I would ever get bored going to more than one of their concerts. They put on such an incredible show from start to finish. I just saw them last night and I already want to go back.
OMG, me too! I saw them in San Diego CA in October and I've already booked a flight to Portland for Dec. 1st! I've thought I must be crazy too, but this show is SO amazing!! I love them so much!
Same! Saw them in San Jose and bought tickets the next day for their Portland date. Phenomenal music, showmanship, energy, and performance. It's not just music. It's a whole experience.
I mean, if you think about it, this video is kind of like how I’m feeling about what’s going on in the world. You have your quite “normal” life, and then you get bombarded by images of war constantly on social media.
I had been wondering about the meaning behind that ! especially with the opening shot (after the trumpet) mirroring that of 'Lost in Translation', an innocence in the sanctity and safety of bed, after being blasted with disjointed noise through the public online sphere.
I truly feel bad for the people who don’t engulf themselves in the 1975. The level of artistry and care and intelligence that go into everything they do, not just music is unbelievable. I feel so lucky to exist at the same time as them. I feel so lucky to have my life soundtracked by them. I truly love them.
Let's fucking GOOOOO!!! Honestly Matty, don't ever change. Your unique mix of creativity, talent, craziness and humour is just SO entertaining, as well as insightful. People who get it, get it, don't worry about the rest, they will never change their minds, no matter what you do or say. I'm still in knots at the Master Class bit, all while 'apologising' for the previous one 🤣 Love that we also get input from Ross, George and Adam on this ATPOAIM, and absolutely fantastic to get some insight into the creative process behind the set-list selection and light/stage show design. Thanks so much again, this made my day- keep 'em coming! ♥
@@diogeneslantern18 You have unwittingly proven Matty's point, which is SO funny! He is creating music and art, well aware that not everyone is going to 'like' it, but as a provocateur his whole purpose is to provoke a reaction from the viewer. The very fact that you have invested your time to view his work, and made the effort to leave a comment, even if trying to be disparaging, proves how SUCCESSFUL he has been in achieving his artistic objectives Q.E.D 😉
This was awesome, and after seeing them in Pittsburgh last week and seeing the rehearsal process and how this all came to be is really inspiring, I hope for more behind the scenes content in the future. You guys are amazing ❤
This is brilliant. It is great to see how much thought and creativity goes into your shows and this whole production. You are a truly amazing band. I can’t wait to see this film in its entirety. ❤
Matty this film was amazing! Thank you for taking us on an incredible journey and showing us what goes on while you are on tour! The 1975 is the best band in the world and I love you guys❤
Their art is evolving every day. It is difficult to keep up with their evolution, but I want to live with them. And seeing their tour in Japan gave me hope to live. Matty used to sing "l'm not your savior" . But he is my savior and my medicine. I would like to thank them🖤
Man, the interview with many words is good, but this format is something special,👍 please continue your intimate moment diary after the tour too!💎 Big love to TNSF!
This is CINEMA!! Please release all the ATPOAIM episodes in theatres because home viewing does not give the filmmaking the respect it deserves. Truly, bravo Matty and Jordan - these films are beautiful works of art.
@@alisvidbook no unfortunately they haven’t sang it in awhile :( I think the last time it was on the setlist was in Fort Worth, Texas about a month ago. TOOTIME replaced it
main takeaway is the sense of invasiveness they likely feel from us and clashes with different levels of masculinity and age they feel from themselves or the world at large. almost as if the details (bonsai vs. telephone) are worth more than the real shit that's happening. and like with the ads, c'mon, being presented with an ad at a concert? all the implications there. incredible
Ok, my take on this episode...!!! We all know that Matty is 'chronically online' so what he's seen a lot of lately is fans saying they're concerned about the band's health because of their long touring and then adding the SATVB tour. I've seen a lot of concern for Matty's mental health what with working so long and hard on tour and as a byproduct of that, receiving constant media/social media attack. Whilst I also agree that very long and demanding touring must be really tough on physical and mental health, I think Matty's trying to say "Yeah it is but seriously, you don’t need to worry guys, in the grand scheme of life, there are much worse things we could be enduring!!" And the film attempts to convey that by showing us what a typical tour day (before the show night) might look like. The film is showing that a lot of their tour time is sitting about in luxury hotels doing anything between 'whatever' and nothing. Yes they go along to rehearsals but the focus is on them seeing all the hard work that OTHER people have been doing in order for them to provide an actual show (as opposed to 'just a concert') and the overall effects of that show. We also see Matty spending some of his time debating and constructing his responses to the typical media and social media attacks which again, in the grand scheme of life, could appear quite petty and a waste of time. Then the ultimate point is made by having all of this against a backdrop of interrupting images, reminding us that whilst all this is happening, being debated, discussed and written about; at the same time, there are millions of people around the world who know TRUE hard work, are suffering constant damage to their physical and mental health, and ultimately die EVERY DAY from the wars and destruction in this world. Matty adds to this by also comparing his 'self-defense' Ju-jitsu training (done only to be of BENEFIT to his physical and mental health) against the real self-defense and often fatal combat undertaken during war. His Ju-jitsu practice is portrayed as a kind of comedic, roll around the floor on some soft mats at the same place he's supposed to be 'working hard' in rehearsals whilst him and his instructor share a giggle. Again, this is pitted against the images which portray true and tragic battles. So, I could be COMPLETELY WRONG!! I understand that Art is subjective and this was just my initial thoughts on it from being a big fan who sees the many online fan discussions, media and non-fan perceptions, the band's affinity with the War Child charity and Matty's past interviews and more recent occasional responses. This also comes with a huge caveat that I am in no way underestimating or belitting the long and hard work that does go into touring and putting on the big shows that musicians do - I actually don't know how they do it, I couldn't!! But as I said at the beginning, this was my take on perhaps how Matty and the band are trying to say, "Yeah it's tough but don't worry, we're fine and this is still mostly fun compared to hell that other people endure".
I want to know so badly where all of the clips fall in the timeline. Are they during the tour are they ALL before the tour. What’s planned? What’s not planned? Ahhh !!!
Well some parts of this episode remind of the mv that was made by John Booth when they were writing You in 2012. Otherwise it was a well constructed short and I hope that they include these episodes in 'The 1975' documentary at some point in time.. Matty are you listening??
