cool! ill check it out on spotify
but do u use the coin bow technique on it?
Nice vid! Checked out your music on iTunes as well, great stuff! Love the sound, definitely sense an appreciation of Radiohead there. Really cool songs! My only comment would be that it seemed quite a bit quieter than similar material on iTunes, a quick fix in mastering. That'd help bring them to life a little more and they'd sound great added into a playlist with some similar artists- and that's great for sharing with friends, fans, and on message boards etc as a great way to get new people listening to your music. Cheers and thanks!
Do you have plans to release another work? Because this one is AWESOME.
Please don't stop!
Congratulations on creating this fantastic album
@@LinkinEffect thank you for your love! We are expecting to release a new single in mid of june. please keep following us. thank you
This technique was used for the 1st time in songs like Bulletproof and High and Dry too. It also appears in live versions of songs like Exit Music and early takes of How to Dissapear, trully a nice trick to pull off sometimes as a guitarrist in a band.
I also saw this technique first on High and dry live!! thank you for your good information.
Wrong. Look into Reeves Gabrels.
@@TheKitchenerLeslie we're talking about radiohead here, your argument is invalid
@@ULTRARARE035 No we're not. We're talking about a picking technique. Overruled.
He also uses a coin for the ending noise part in morning bell! I only learned that because a guitar tab told me to get a dime
Whenever I see Jonny’s experimental techniques, I’m always always like “Why didn’t I think of that?” It just makes sense that this would make a cool sound. I think it’s just the willingness to try things
I’ve definitely thought to use a 50p when I don’t have a pick
@@RichardTongemanBrian May of Queen has played with a sixpence for 60 years
This part of the music is haunting me, it's so beautiful, thanks for showing this trick
Amazing guitar work, but how you managed to play the whole backing track AND sing it at the same time AND sound exactly like the original is truly astounding.
Lmao what
i just used original tune on apple music🤣
@@OURAGEmeJay Something tells me they knew that already lol
You do realize that people can play over tracks right? He wasn't claiming to do everything.
@@EstrogenGhoul You do realize they were joking right? He wasn't claiming to be sincere in his appraisal
I play guitar with a coin all the time, MAINLY because my kids take my guitar picks but still it can be so unique sounding.
Johnny Greenwood is a fucking genius
LMAO!
godspeed you black emperor frequently uses a similar technique but using a screwdriver
came here to say this, its super fun to do as well :) its a bit less harsh as well because there arent any ridges on the screwdriver.
One of the great things about music is that it always makes space for new things.
Jonny Greenwood is such a brilliant dude! So are all of the Radiohead members. Cool video man!
i could listen to this all day
Daaaaamnn that is cool! And beautiful. It actually had the effect of bowing the string with those pitch bends / slides. Reminds me of his use of the Ondes Martenot, but with a flipping coin?! Genius
You can also bend up and down while fretting so the strings will vibrate against the frets
Absolutely stunning sound. So ethereal and atmospheric, I almost got goosebumps. 👍🏻👍🏻
That’s wicked! Thanks for sharing
This is genius! Thanks for sharing this.
Great vid, I’ll be sure to check out your band!
The list of magic tricks you can pull off with electric guitar is never-ending. I really need to get back to it
Wow that sounded much better than I was expecting
You don’t know happy I am to randomly find the explanation of this glorious sound
Amazing! Great little video! I had no idea, so cool to know!
What a beautiful sound.
Jonny Greenwood and Thom Yorke are such great composers
I always assumed that was just tremolo picking with the tone rolled off a bit for a soft attack and lots of reverb. Good to know, thanks!
Love that double bound telecaster!
Perfectly executed
Woa nice! Has no idea that this was how he achieved that sound, really cool!
Amazing man!
Jonny Greenwood is awesome
Brilliant execution, mate
Wow, thank you! RH for life!
A similar trick to GY!BE's usage of screwdrivers on their songs. A very interesting effect
Nice! Thank You!
I figured this one out about 20 years ago listening to High and Dry and used it in my own bands a few times.
Finally, a guitar does ASMR.
sounds so pretty
Thanks!
Cmon, get this man more subs!
so fucking good, you killed this
This album would make me cry if I listened to it again. I had it on repeat during my backpacking trip through Europe and especially Prague did this music feelprominent
Love the telecaster!
Very cool. Thanks.
that's really nice
that's beautiful.
Sweet. I LOVE that song btw
Thank you!!
Really beautiful playing. I had no idea that they did this or that it was possible
Awesome
OH WOW! this is amazing!!!
guitars and cents
Such an underrated comment 😂
Incredible sound
W for radiohead + real madrid jacket
Fire 🔥 for sure! 🤙
Jonny proud of you
cool jacket. 👑
sounds really good , interesting sound.
I have a few stainless steel picks, been doing this kind of stuff for a minute. It works well as a slide and makes tapping sound insane.
Wow! Never thought of that
holy fuck fuck, its awesome how you make the guitar cry, sheees
Beauty is where you find it.
Cool!
I really liked your EP.
Hala Madrid!!!
Thank you!!
I love the coin technique. I have used it in a few of my own songs
I did this in the 90s playing with my friends. Im sure have done since coins were invented.
I think he did something like that in just, Y’know that scratchy note at the 20th fret
So cool!
Hauntingly ephemeral.
Its fantastic what a experimental technic.
Thank you
Awesome.
genius
Now this is a youtube video
He’s genius
SO sick!
why am i just finding this shit?...I should have known this 20 years ago
That's awesome
Perfect
well, my mind's blown
I am now enlightened
Too fun.
beast
Sounds so beautiful! Would you mind sharing all the pedals or effects you're using to get this tone? :D
thanks!! i used Strymon Riverside overdrive, Strymon Bluesky Reverb - for little bit of gain and ambient.
And what kind of coin? 😉
@@pcurryii i used Korea Republic’s 100 won coin. Jonny use UK’s 1 pound coin
@@OURAGEmeJay I'm not sure if he could use a £1 coin any more without it catching on the strings. In 2007 they were completely circular, but since 2017 they have 12 sides, with the corners rounded off.
@@ludiekmagick This is why no new RH material confirmed.
House of cards. ❤️
nice guitar bro
Jonny "we are about to go on, where's my quarter?"
Thom: *blows bubble*
Wow. Dope. Thanks.
I used to do this by accident when I couldn't find a pick
sounds like something eddy would do
What a beautiful song. In terms of the radiohead community it gets a lot of hate but it's actually one of my favourites
Does it? I think this is my favorite Radiohead song lol
wait people hate this song? it’s so beautiful
@@thebargainbin6020 yes due to its popularity
@@helterskelter7499 lol interesting
@@helterskelter7499 fucking Radiohead fans (I am one)
A great way to clean crud off your strings as well 🙂
🙂
@@GPoh_99 🙂
unbelievable
Subbed
It sort of mimics the ondes martenot sound but with more of a violin sort of tremolo
Cool
Mind blown
Hey I learned something new today *breaks strings*
Adrian Belew’s trick back in the 80’s
hell yeah
🤟🏼🤘🏼
He didn't "invent" glissando guitar (using an object as a slide to change pitch). Worth mentioning. Daevid Allen of Gong did it extensively, Syd Barrett is noted for frequently using this in early days of The Pink Floyd, Hendrix, David Gilmoure have all used it before him. Its all over kraut rock, shoe gaze, and post rock music too. Pretty sure the front man of Godspeedyoublackemperor! uses coinss occasionally, even on A# F# album.
thank you for good information. i never known that.
@@OURAGEmeJay there's even the gong glissando guitar orchestra (they have a name similar to that) probably searchable
@@OURAGEmeJay th-cam.com/video/1PXgHyEdHCs/w-d-xo.html
godspeed uses a screwdriver for these kind of effects
F# A# even included a penny so you could do it yourself
I should try that sometimes...
Cool !
thanks
Attaboy!
